AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  Well i have this to say abt his movie being inspired by thullavatho illamai. I am quite sure that Boys had started before Thullavatho Illamai. So the stories maybe similair but i highly doubt shankar was inspired by the movie. Also there have been many movies about teenagers aspiring to show their talents, which is what the Boys sight syas the movie is about.....oh wait and Thullavatho Illamai had nothing to do with that if I recall funny huh?people just talk.

  One distributor in Malaysia refused to buy the copyrights for Boys as its not lucrative. It's a movie for youngsters and don't have the market to capture the family audience. Anyway, with the way the industry is - everybody would be waiting for the DVD or the VCD to come out or even on Astro Showcase...

  Tulluvatho ilamai audio cassete released before DHEENA and after Rishi. It was supposed to release before dheena. Due to finincial praoblem it came late. OK.

  xml you are right, Thulluvadho Ilamai was in the making for a long time. If you even look you can see that the original cast which is pictured on the first cd, is not the cast that was in the movie.
  But the songs came out in early 2001 and the movie was in production from 2000.
  
  Also I read some time back that Shankar wanted to change the script as it was so like Thulluvadho Ilamai.

  As for Boys, I found that Ale Ale has the intro of Maya Machindra and then loops into the Taal se Taal mila beat.

  dun care about this lah Naga...as long the movie is enjoyable,then the movie is a hit...
  
  a very embarrasing for Sa Re Ga Ma/HMV or Fivestare coz they didint buy Boys audio rights...same goes to Sony too...atlast Boys is the HIghest selling in this 2 years!!!
