  O_IS_G, 'poovarayum ...' is in 'idayaththil nee'. The maNappanthal song by PBS is 'udalukku uyir kAval'.

  athenna 'best of Dr. PBS'? Every song he sang was good - at least 90% is great. I don't think any other singer in indian films has such a track record.

  Almost every song of PBS is great. For starters
  Enthan Paruvathin Kelvikku (policekaran magal)
  Neelave ennidam mayangathe (Ramu)
  Nenjam marapathillai(N M)
  Ponenben siru poo enben (PM again)
  Roja malare (Veera thirumagan)
  Parthen sirithen (veera abhimanyu)
  Thennankeetrin unjalile (Paadai theriyudu Paar)
  Almost all these songs give me goose pimples.
  This thread can go on & on & on.(In fact it should!) PBS is simply astounding. His voice had the best mix of softness & masculinity.

  Raj, In policekaran magan balaji plays a playboy there is a song right at the start of the movie with some female in the then newly constructed marina swimming pool. What is that number ( i thought Enthan paruvathin was the song)Neelavukku en mel is later when balaji is trying to patao Sheela. Or am i mistaken? dunno
  how about the great Sharada no " oruthi oruvannai ninaithu vittal " & the simple Chitti duet" santhippoma inru santhippoma"
  I think elsewhere in the forum I had stated what kik mentions that is nearly 90% of his songs were very good. In fact I can remember only one song "Pothigai Malai ucchiyile" which I do not like. I don't know why but this song gives me the creeps.
  "Azhagiya mithilai nagarinile yaarukku " & " mathura nagaril tamizh sangam" are also two lovely duets. PBS_PS were truly amazing as a team.

  O_IS_G, 'chittukkuruvi pAduthu' was composed by M.B. Srinivasan. Another surprise by MSV-TKR, 'neeyO nAnO yAr nilavE' by PBS for MGR in 'mannAthi mannan' a superb number. Other singers were Jamuna Rani and PS.
  'engum thunbam illai' was sung by PBS for Sivaji, composer Chalapathi Rao

  PBS sang 'thendralE nee pEsu' from 'kadavuL amaiththa mEdai' (yes, the movie that had 'mayilE mayilE') for IR. Unfortunately, his voice had thickened by that time and he faltered in one of the charanams.

  He is apparently to be found daily at the Woodlands Drive in restaurant in the evenings composing new songs. There was an article in the Hindu that he had composed about 10,000 songs in the different languages - he wrote and composed a hindi bhajan album for SJ, wrote and composed the first tamil ghazal album (singer: OS Arun/Mudhra/couple years back), discovered a new raagam much appreciated by carnatic musicians....
  
  Heard a lovely number in mangayar ullam mangaatha selvam (mus: P Adinarayana Rao)- ithuve vaazhvil vasantham totally hindustani tune.

  PBS wrote the song "tu ha Raja" in Varumayin Niram sigappu in hindi.The last lines will go like

  kik, that is a wonderful songs close following the heels of another Adi Narayana Rao beauty of a Ragamalika , 'thEsulAvuthE ...' by Gantasala and PS. The song, I guess starts with Tilang and ends with Kalyani.

  Mr.Anjali Devi was an underrated composer!The PBS "Vanitha Maniye" in Adutha veetu penn is a classic.Inthe movie As soon as the servant maid enters the room the master would switch to "Vathapi Ganapthim" in Hamsadhwani.PBS at his best.

  kaNNAlE pEsi pEsi kollAthE and
  mAlayil malar sOlayil are great songs, both by PBS.
  Listen to 'iLamai koluvirukkum' (the PBS version, there is a PS version too) from 'Hello Mr. Zamindar', superb singing !!!!
