Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  Sony Music returns to southern films
  
  CHENNAI: After a near-disastrous entry 18 months ago, Sony Music is re-visiting southern film industry. It has picked up the audio rights for ace director Maniratnam’s latest Tamil flick Ayutha Ezhutthu (also being made in Hindi as Yuva), which has A R Rahman’s music score.

  The film is being produced by Madras Talkies and is set for May 21 release. The audio of the movie will be launched on March 15. It may be recalled that Sony Music entered the Tamil film music market by acquiring the rights for Kaadhal Virus, which also had A R Rahman’s music. Though it had a couple of peppy numbers from Rahman, the film was a complete flop show and bombed at the box office.
  
  Even though Sony then planned to slowly spread to other regional language markets in the south, the disaster of its maiden venture forced it to go slow on its plans. Having had a good year 2003-04 so far in Hindi, Sony has once again ventured into the southern territory. However, it wants to focus on Tamil for some time before entering other markets in the region.
