  I am in a jiffy...so let me answer your question quickly....
  
  I always try to encode a single song under various categories...MONO, STEREO, 16 Kbps, 20.7 Kbps, 32 Kbps,etc.....
  
  Most of the times STEREO files sound really bad when you compare its MONO counterparts. Voice rendition is poor in stereo files. So what I used to do is to see whether that is the case. If not, I will encode it as STEREO file (refer to ENGENGO SELLUM (refurbished), ILAMAI KAALANGAL song....these songs are great examples of good encoding).
  
  Sometimes what happens, is that distortion occurs, when you convert a STEREO wave file to MONO RA file. Logically you would question me --"Rex....then why don't you encode it as STEREO RA file itself?". My answer to this question would be:"Srinath...it is because, if I encode it as STEREO RA file, then voice rendition is very very poor...". So what do I do??? I make a compromise....Most of the time it works....sometimes it isn't.
  
  EXAMPLE: Listen to this great great number MY 100TH ADDITION...Thulli Thirindathu...
  
  Or even listen to the latest OTHA ROOPA THAAREN...These songs had great distortion problems while encoding....so what I just encoded them by producing a MONO wave file and then converted into MONO RM file which gave me a great quality audio file. But this strategy failed in GV. That is exactly what you are pointing out now.
  
  But listen to VIKRAM...VIKRAM... This song was recorded as STEREO wave file and encoded as MONO RM file and there was no distortion.
  
  Most of the times, MONO files capture BASS more effectively than STEREO files. Having this in mind, take a new voyage into my site to check this out for yourself.
  
  As I am telling you guys....this field is like an ocean....AAzha nEEndha nEEndha thAAn muthu edukka mudiyum.....
  
  I want to produce ONLY high quality files and I will do down to any depth to bring out that....in the songs that I have.
  
  That is the tribute that I can pay to Isaignani Dr.Ilaiyaraaja and to his thousands of fans, pervading all through the globe.
  
  I have listened to Raaja's songs under different modes, sound characteristics...etc. How much IR has paid attention even to the minute detail, amazes me. Without knowing all these things, when some `fan' criticizes Raaja as WORST....or he can only give more numbers with poor quality, etc....I really lose my `cool'....Better ask those fans to sit like me and do what they can....and then they can criticize IR and glorify some other `R'.

  UPLOADS UPDATE (Attention: "Bass of Raaja Tunes" thread visitors)
  
  The mega hit song of TFM, "Ponvaanam Panneer Thoovuthu", has motivated you guys to start a separate thread to ponder on Raaja's skills in providing good bass to his songs....That is good.
  
  Therefore, I have uploaded the song under 3 different playback modes for you guys to enjoy and appreciate more of Raaja's bass....
  
  1. Song #6 (Song # 258.B) - ORIGINAL STEREO FILE that was uploaded around February 10th. This file plays in STEREO Mode and 20 KBPS and was encoded using RealAudio encoder. NO G2 NEEDED.
  
  2. Song # 258.A - MONO FILE uploaded today. Plays in 20.7 Kbps. Loaded specially for 28 K Modem users to enjoy the high quality content.G2 NEEDED.
  
  3. Song # 258.C - STEREO FILE uploaded today. Plays in 32 Kbps mode. Uploaded specially for 56 K and higher speed connections to enjoy high quality content. G2 NEEDED.

  I had no problems with my ISP (Netzero).....I could hear the 32.5 KBPS file without any problem. Try when the network is not too busy.

  Problem was with my connection, sorry ! I could hear it after disconnecting and reconnecting again. The recording is simply wonderful !!! I wish I could have had this kind of a help when I was actively playing :-) it would have made so much difference :-) What I really appreciate in your recording is that though the bass sounds much clearer and prominent now, it has not reduced the rest of the song in any way ! Usually, when the bass is increased the voice quality suffers ! But with your recording I could easily switch my attention between the bass and the whole song and enjoy them both :-) thanks a lot !

  Thanks for the compliments.....by your accolades you are still pushing me (indirectly) for more encoding.....which I might do as soon as I get rid of one of the projects tonight....
  
  So here is the deal....As part of the ongoing GUJAAL songs upload, I will upload Isaignani's "Oorarorama Athupakkam" from IDAYA KOIL, which I had recorded on Sunday....but could not upload because of my pre-occupation with stuff. I just need to encode it....

  Maaman voodu machi voodu is a delightful number. Makes you really take part in the song. It also has funny lyrics and sung very well by MV. LIkewise there are so many such songs composed by Raja that it is difficult to cover them so easily in this forum. I would say there are about 200 such super group gujaal songs. Best in this category of IR is the Vango Anna, Vango Anna; Engengum Kandenamma pengal; Suraangani, Suraangani; two songs in Jappanil Kalyanaraman. By MSV, it is the unparalleled Adi Ennadi Raakku!!!!
