A Big Thank You to admin for cleaning up this thread.
This has been a problem for ARR fans for such a long time yet no one cared till Are Yaar gave a taste of how it cud feel like. Some people simply butt into every ARR thread, totally Unprovoked and will copy and paste comments which are a month old, choosing to do so only when there is peace & some good discussion in the ARR threads.
I hope we can maintain this peace for some time.
Good work Are Yaar. Looks like at least a part of ur "Are Yaar" mission has been fulfilled.
Adding to the article above, ARR was also the highest tax paying music director in India last year...meaning the highest paid MD as well I spose. And wasnt it a joke that I had lengthy arguments in this DF with some people who insisted that ARR was no longer the commercially no1 MD anymore and tat his time was over.

I will be posting translations I did of ARR's Deepavali interview on KTV (Sun Network). I have split it into 10 parts and will be posting them in a few different threads. The interview was conducted by the girl who hosts Sun TV's Ilamai Puthumai show. This interview was part of the Kadhalar Virus Kannottam and the focus was on the musical score of the film. ARR was interviewed first, afterwhich Director Kadhir was interviewed.
Here goes...

PART 1: INTRODUCTION
Opening statement by Interviewer:
Before, during & after Deepavali, many new movies are released. Alongside, many audio releases occur. If Tamil film songs have a good reachout throughout the world, an important reason behind this is IsaiPuyal AR Rahman.
[Taal Se Taal Mila music]
Among the many directors who combine with him to give hit movies, director Kadir is a key figure. In the making, as a result of the alliance of this duo, is Kadhal Virus.
[Vaan Nila opening music]
The recently released Kadhal Virus audio cassette has been enthralling audience.
For this Deepavali, let us quiz Director Kadir and Isai Puyal AR Rahman.
Interview with AR Rahman begins.
Interviewer: Vanakkam (Greetings) Sir. How are you doing?
ARR: I am ok.
Interviewer: Has it been a long time since you came to Madras?
ARR: No, it's been a month since I came.
Interviewer: How's the place?
ARR: Nice...as usual.

PART 3: ON ARR'S MOVIE SELECTION
Interviewer: You work with big banners and big directors like Shanker, Mani Ratnam and Kadhir. What is the particular reason for this?
ARR: If you take Mani Sir, he gave me my first break. We have shared a good relationship and so far and hope we will share in future. If you look at Shanker, his first movie was Gentleman. Then, we never knew whether he was big or small. Only a person's work will determine if he is big or small. That's what I believe. Nowadays, the time factor is becoming less as I am travelling. I'd quite like to work with experienced directors. As a commitment to my Tamil industry fans, I want to do some which has quality. And as the time factor is less, I prefer to do very few films.

PART 5: ARR ON NEW MUSIC DIRECTORS
Interviewer: For each time period, there was a Music Director. First, it was MS Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy. Then came Illayaraja. Then you came. Now, there are many youngsters adventing. In fact, there are even movies with five Music Directors. What is your opinion about this?
ARR: I think it is a very good thing. People get to hear different kinds of music. They all have an outlet. And they all have an encouragement and support from people. And each person has a particular following and that's what we need actually. Once they get an encouragement, we as a whole team, can go break into the international market. Which is my dream. If you look at the world, our place is out there. We can go and assume that place. I think we should do that.

PART 7: ON ARR'S TRENDS
Interviewer: In Kanathil Muthammital and Baba, the songs were very emotional, melody based songs. And all the songs were situational based for the movies. But what we, the general public expect from AR Rahman is peppy music like Humma Humma, Oorvasi or Shakalaka Baby. What do you think about that?
ARR: If we look at young films, Kadhalan, Kadhal Desam, Kadhalar Dinam are all young films. The songs will also be like that. Prabhu Deva featured in alot of those films. After that, I consciously decided to do some emotional subjects. It was a journey. But now, in Kadhal Virus, Boys, Jyothi Sir's movie...title is Enaku 18 or something...(laughs), everything has this young feel back again.
PART 8: ABOUT HIMSELF
Interviewer: Are you a very emotional person?
ARR: Everybody is emotional. If you look at musicians, we have all kinds of emotions.
Interviewer: But what is that emotion that is around the background?
ARR: When I am working on a song, I try to knock off all the emotions. It is difficult and we cannot have one emotion and compose a different kind of tune. So be neutral rather.
