Kamal, MR and ARR Team in the next MN venture!

Vikatan Source says Next Kamal movie is by MR and next MR movie has Kamal (of is it the same..:) ). No Doubt the MD is ARR i betcha!

  If the movie is produced by Rajkamal or GV, it will be IR. If it is produced by PL Thenappan, it may be KR. But if it is produced by Madras Talkies or Aalayam, then it will be ARR.
  
  But both Mani and Kamal are in desperate need for a hit. Mani is badly in need of hit after the debacle Kannaththil.....

  If you call Kannathil a debacle your source of news and taste are so unreliable. That is one of the best movies ever made in tamil. It was hit both nationwide and in northamerica. For examble in canada and usa it was in theatres for like 3 months and even a hit movie stays in theatre for 2-3 weeks in canada n usa.(tamil movies)

  Its possible that Shankar Ehsaan Loy would be the composer trio of this venture. A very very reliable (!!!) source told me that Mani talked to SEL for the music of Alai Payuthey and they had even composed a song (which they used later as the title song of the Hindi film, Shool) to showcase their range to Mani. But Mani went to ARR finally since he felt more comfortable with him. Then he also worked with ARR for KM.
  
  Now knowing Kamal's excessive interest in his projects and the fact that he worked with SEL in Aalavanthaan, I feel SEL might land this film! Lets wait and watch!
  
  Personally I'd want every Mani movie to go to ARR, of course!

  Britney Spears kind of film music.
  
  I think if MR decides not to go for ARR, he should chose Vishal rather than SEL.
  IMO he is by far the only MD not to fall in the commercial trap yet and still making honest music.

  It may be a hit in Canada because they were showing LTTE and Srilanka in that movie, it is an ok movie but not the best from MR. Is it better than Azhagi?
  
  But I don't think IR will do the music for MR even though if they ask him to do.

  this MR, today's Kamal haasan are all jaded. I would not personally wish IR to go back to people with stagnant ideas. IR needs new energies and not fading lights.

  I think Ilayaraaha is so overpowering, that directors like mani rathnam feel insecure, for their work get shadowed by the genious Ilayraaja.
  
  Mind you, the BGM of the movies is the most important part of the movie. What if mani decided to make a movie with no songs ?

  sankar, I feel "Kannathil Muthamittal" is a very good movie. I dont want to compare "Azahi" with it. Because both are with different concepts. Both are good movies in all aspects. I feel, still TN people (or thamiz people in TN) are not mentally matured enough to understand the problem discussed in KM.

  I agree KM was a nice movie - defenitely ahead of its times, I fully enjoyed it !
  
  But I believe MR didn't make any attempts to help the 'mentally immatured' people to come up to the level of understanding he has ... that way he failed as a creator, I believe That was the main reason the movie failed.
  
  You can't blame the people always, MR should know his audience and talk accordingly, (or atleast try to bring them upt to his level of thinking), If he wants to make a commercial movie with a strong message (Which he successfully managed in Roja and Bombay, I would also add Anjali to this list !), then you should make sure that there is a correct mixture of both and people who see the movie are able to understand it properly, Otherwise there is no point in making it a commercial and expect people to increase their rasanai themselves and then watch the movie (Remember 'terrorist' by Santosh Sivan ? that was better than KM with very less (or NO) compromises)
  
  Same is applicable for HeyRam's failure also ...
  
  Namma Baashaiyila sollaNumnnaa, You can't publish 'VishNuPuram' or 'JJ Sila kuRippukaL' as a thodar in kumudam or as a mega serial in SunTV and then complain about people not watching / reading it ;-))))

  After the success of Roja, MR developed some kind of addiction to stories related to politics.
  Roja(Kashmir), Iruvar(MGR,MK), Bombay(bomb blast), Uyire(terrorism), KM(LTTE).. The kind of skill he showed in the movies like Anjali, Mouna Raagam, Nayagan, Dalapathi, Idhyathai Thirudathe, Pagal Nilavu is not conspicous in his recent works. Even most of his works earliers works were heavily influenced by Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather Trioloy it was neatly done.
  I guess Revathy was a terrific actress in all her MR movies. Mouna Raagam, Anjali and Pagal Nilavu.
  Infact she is the only actress who have acted in the movies of great directors like Bharathi Raja, Balachander, Mahendran, BaluMahendra, Maniratnam.Revathy developed a huge fan base from all level in the late 80s.After 1992 she casted Madhubala, Manisha, Aishwarya, Heera, Shalini and Simran. These actresses have fan base only from select groups.While watching KM in a theater when simran comes with his children one guy shouted "Irundha ore figaraiyum mavakkitngaleda". Manisha and Aish lack complete nativity. That may be one of the problem. Some times his stories are close to unreality these days. The adamance of child that lead Madhavan and Simran to go to Srilanka which is an improbable situation. By going there the hero risks the lives of everybody including his wife and step daughter, a story not many people will like. Second thing is disclosing the truth to her exactly after 10 years. Well not many people will tell that. After 10 years a true parent even if it is adopted will treat her like their own kid. Not many people will like that logic. Rasu kutti movie was a great success. I am sure it would have made more money than KM.It was also about a movie adopted son who is careless with his life. He gave it in a language that people can understand not with oneliners and unusual tamil phrases and sentences. Bhagyaraj is best known for his fantastic screenplay. MR is losing ground in this area. MR has forgotten the art of reaching people. Last decent movie i saw from him was Bombay and before that Roja. Music has def. been a setback for him in the last few movies to compound problems.

  I too believe MR is yet to make another 'Mauna Raagam', even in movies like Roja, Bombay or KM, I love the way he handles the relationships and emotions, thats his strength and unfortunately he is not really concentrating on it these days !
  
  If you talk abt AlaiPayuthaey, I felt it was overdose, I couldn't see the movie second time ... (But I know many of my friends did so :-)

  Upto to your usual tricks, are you? Far from being a setback for Mani the music for his last few films has been far more successful than the films themselves. Think Chaiyya Chaiyya or Dil Se Re or Sneghidane etc. Your efforts to pull down ARR every time you see an opportunity reveal a mind warped with envy and self-delusion.

  Naga, I still disagree slightly. The problems and concepts covered in Azahi are of everyone's and everydays. The main concepts of KM are "Ceylon Problem" and "Child Adoption Problem". Unfortunately nowadays Ceylon problem has become the problem of another country people even for TN Thamizs. My friend from ceylon was describing the scenario inside the theater where KM was running. During the "Vidai Kodu Engkal Naade" song, everyone in the theater was crying. They know the pain. Obviously they'll feel it. That is why the movie was hit in Ceylon and Canada. They could understand the problem. But surely not TN people. I would like to quote one incident during my childhood days. With my family I had watched "Bommukutti Ammavuku" in Karur. For a festivel, v had been to our village. There are two tent talkies even now. In one of the talkies over there that movie was running. With some of our village relatives and neighbours, v went to see the movie. In another tent, "Per Chollum Pillai" was running. The comment from them was like "enna padam, eppap paathalum pilla pillanukittu. pesama per chollum pillai padathukup poyirukalam". The one who gave this comment has 5 children. That person couldn't even understand the problems of ( or couldn't get in to the shoes of ) couples without children. The same thing did happen with KM also. Basically the average intellectual level of Thamiz people in TN should improve much. I meant about CM to CM (Common Man to Chief Minister). First they should come out from pocket novels like "Cholamal Kolvean" and "Thirumarana Azaipithaz".
