AL Ragavan doesnt seem to be a popular singer though many of his songs are worth listening to. He had a voice that was easy on the ears and was quite suitable for light songs.

I hv listed some of my favorites here:

RV - ALR was the preferred choice to sing for Nagesh, so many of his songs couldn't be taken seriously (joke-ppa!) He has indeed proven his worth in moving songs such as Yengirunthaalum vaazhga.
Add his last number: Naan paartha rathi devi yengey from Kannil Theiriyum Kathaigal in your list.

I used to wonder where and how did the lyricist came up with such a phrases. But found out later that the seemingly "meaningless" phrases sung in the middle of the song is in actuality from the "Sowraastra" language and coincidently( or not ) the two singers, TMS & ALR are both Sowraastrians.

So, my question is did the lyricist come up with these phrases knowing the singers or the singers suggested these as changes to whatever the lyricist originally came up with for the song or the combination? But, it is interesting!!!

In a Jai Shankar movie, "Naan Yaar Theriyuma?"( a James Bond movie ) with music by Veda, there is a song, where the Secret Agent, Jai Shankar goes to a hotel in search of something and finds an "Afro-American" singer( Jai Shankar in dual role ) singing and dancing with the Heroine( L.Vijayalakshmi ) and the Hero joins them.

I used to like this song a lot for its good lyrics, nice music and some great western interludes with ALR singing the portion for the Singer and TMS for the Hero.

The song goes like this:

Are you sure about the Vettaikkaran song ? I remember seeing the movie but this song doesnt ring a bell.

Also, could anyone confirm whether this song
"Uravinil Fifty Fifty" was song by ALR and LRE ? I think the movie was Galatta Kalyanam.

I hvnt heard of many of these songs you hv listed and I thought I am a bigtime ALR fan! I should buy that CD. Among all the ones that hvnt been listed so far, the only one I hv heard is "Pakkitthile Kanni Ponnirukku" in Padikaadha Medhai - picturised on TR Ramachandran.

I plan to make a list in a couple of days.
