Hi,

I am fan of Anuradha Sriram (Singer). If anybody had information or JPG files of Anuradha Sriram. Please pass it to my email muralidesk@usa.net His famous Songs are :-
- Chennai Girl Tamil POP Album

I too like her. She is an ardent fan of IR and had done a research paper on Ilaiyaraja's composings.

Murali,

How can you forget the song, "Un uthattora chirippe" song from the film "Panchalankurichi". It is a duet sung by Hariharan and AS. This song is one of the few good tunes (I hope it is original) of Deva.

i agree that she is not adroit as chitra, but her voice is not all that bad. She was aptly used for "nalam nalamaRiya aaval.."

I also like AR voice a lot. Plus, she is fun to watch while she's singing. She's always smiling. She's good, but her voice doesn't match with KJY.

if you are talking about KN, yes i must say that either chitra or sujatha would be a good fit in couple of songs. AR is good for some bouncy tunes creating a spirited feeling, not for melodies. She is amazing in some of songs of "gharwali baharwali" :-)

I like some of Anuradha Sriram's song (like 'nalam nalamariya aaval' & 'malligaiyE malligaiyE'). I don't like most of her upbeat numbers (kinda LREsvari-ish :-))

Very good singer. Especially in gejel songs and also in melodious songs.

I have always liked Anu Sriram. I have watched her in Raj TV's antakshari program and shes very lively and full of energy.

There seems to be criticisms on her singing "nilavai kondu vaa". She changed her voice quite a bit to render that number and I think it was one of her experimentations. As a singer, she came out quite well!!

I happened to get an information that Anuradha Sreeram's mother was a singer in Malayalam movies in the sixtees and also that her husband
is an instrumentalist who is currently very famous.
Can somebody throw some light on this?

Yeah her husband has a phd for university of something in USA. They studied together. He's a famous violinist, and also sings hindustani on stage with Anuradha. He just released an album with his brothers and ARadha called 'Three men and a violin' or something in that like. I think his full name is Sreeram parasuraaman.

Anu renders the number un uthatora sivappa antha maruthAni kadana kaetkum ( pAnjAlankurichchi with a semblance of amorousness that comes naturally to her. This degree of expression is hard to find in many of frontline singers with the exception of swarnalatha who comes very close to her next in the list.

I disagree. True that Anu is an expressive singer, especially tamil songs. But that doesn't mean that other singers are not. Many songs of Chithra are extremely expressive, though you may not be aware. Even Sujatha is pretty good, I suppose. It would be doubtful if even Anu could sing 'Kannalanae' the way Chithra sang. AND everyone should realize by now that her version of 'Uyire uyire' in tamil is way better than Kavitha's in Hindi. A musician friend of mine was saying that of the three languages that that the song 'Nenjinile nenjinile' came in, those would be 'jiya jiya' in Hindi and 'inalila' in telugu, the telugu version was his favourite, simply because of Chithra's soulful rendering.

P.S Did you guys hear of this controversy. When Anu and Hariharan were singing this song on stage in Singapore, they had started dancing together. Gangai Amaran made a big fuss about it saying that she put a bad name to stage singing. Anu counter attacked by saying in "Kalki" that GA was taking things too far. They were dancing on stage pretty decently. Then she went on to say that GA is the guy who talks double meaning stuff on stage thinking that it is good entertainment for the audience. She quoted "We usually take everything he says as a joke(lightly)".
