Deva is No.1 in TFM since 1994 to Current Year. Can IR atleast swap Deva's position ?

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

It seems Deva is the No.1 for almost five years now. Since 1994 to Current year Deva is No.1 in scoring maximum no.of movies a year. It was used be IR till 1993.

  There is no chance Deva became No.1 in India.IR is the No.1 MD since 1970 untill now.Nobody can challenge with him.This is sure.IR is the genius.

  I recommend this as the greatst joke of century !
  I prefer IR doing less number of films but all good numbers - in 1997 he gave us 7 albums - 5 of them were excellent (KM, raman abdullah, devadhai , kadhal rojave & Poomani). in 1998 till this Nov. end he MDed 8 films & gave 6 wonderful albums. I like this & wish this trend to continue . If u r so sure in selecting No. 1 MD in tamil by number of films/year. where will u put ARR ??

  Just don't use TFM to kill thetime. Yes u r right, Deva is no:1 in terms of no of films.
  Just getin to more details. what is his originality. If IR and ARR are original books, Deva is only a photocopy(in indian language, Xeroxcopy). If IR and ARR are origianl items, Deva is imitation. IF IR and ARR are leaders, deva is only a follower. Ofcourse, copies of original manuscript will be more, in terms of numbers. But they are still copies.

  Let me say few words here.
  I liked Ilayaraja's songs a lot and later switched to AR rahman, for his good numbers in Roja, kadalan,jeans, bombay etc.
  
  BUT, Mr Deva has given decent numbers also, starting from Asai, Neerukku Ner, Kannedhere Thondrinal, annamalai etc to name a few.
  
  My all time favorite being Konja Nal poru song
  from Asai. I would like to quote an example here, in a sun TV program in which Suppudu was interviewed he has put Deva has the best for his classical blend songs.
  
  Guys, every body is entitled for their individual opinion, no doubt about that.
  
  But please dont call deva as Xerox etc, Infact
  music comes from one form to another and no one on the planet can claim to be the owners of any ragas, etc.
  
  No offense against any body.
  Deva is a great Music conductor if not a Music
  composer.
  
  He is always my favorite.

  making transformations is different from copying.what deva does is exact replication.the most recent ourage was 'akhila akhila' taken off directly from 'buffalo soldier'.its not a surprise that the movie was produced by manirathnam who doesnt think twice before lifting even frames from hollywood movies.(still, he does a good job integrating them into his storyline)you have to think twice before comparing transformation in musical style or adaptation of classicAL ragas with the kind of abject plagiarism that is the hallmark of deva.as for subbudu,its upto you to pick your authority on music. i wld like to point out that even as subbudu was crying hoarse criticising IR, masters like semmangudi were appreciating IR.it doent mean semmangudi is less qualified than subbudu or vise-versa but just a matter of opinion.as you yourself have stated that deva is only a great music conductor(of which also i'm not sure-might be one of his brothers do the job)as for ARR i cant say much but that i often here his background scores and interludes in many english movies.infact i was horrified when i heared the exact starting music of 'mangthat hai kya' from rangeela in a latenight cable movie! cant say that ARR wld have seen such a rotten movie but the blame might have to ba passsed on to the 'softwares'!
  when it comes to originality and versatality, IR stands head and shoulders above the contemporaries.as for this topic, its only purpose wld be to serve the initiater's appetite for some controversy.GREATNESS IS NOT A STATISTICAL VIRTUE!

  Please Ezhimalai, give us a break! Deva!!!.....! you must be kidding! I think even guys like Vidyasagar and S A Rajkumar stand way ahead of him. I just can't imagine how anyone could call deva number one. I' want to know, are you bribed by Deva or one of his brothers?

  In this current world nobody is a perfect composer. Days are gone where muisic used to be composed (May be IR was the last ). All the present guys are only xerox machines. Why single out Deva. ARR is difficult to find out. Its takes long time to get from where he got his tunes. He is intelligent enough to copy( may be inspired) from most unknown sources. So he escapes. Sirpy, SAR are well among others.
  
  Deva is leading numbers. So you find more songs which are not original. But whether he is copying or not, he is definitely giving music pleasing many people. That is obvious by leading numbers. We have to accept this fact.
  
  Only thing we have to pity is that there are no more composers for TFM in the current crop. ( IR is not considered to be a present crop MD, Ir fans need not get offended ).

  Even when IR was scoring atleast 30 films a year, Shankar Ganesh was doing more films than IR at one point of time. Still nobody can compare Deva with SG because they have their own individuality. Any one could easily identify the MDs like MSV,S-G, V.Kumar, Chandrabose, S.A.Rajkumar, Sirpi, Vidhyasagar etc., by listening to their songs. But its very hard to identify the composer by listening Deva's songs. For long period of time he was imitating IR bit by bit for every songs and BGM, after the arrival of ARR, he started using ARR's methodology also. Deva doesn't have any Individuality he can imitate any MDs who are giving popular songs. Only reason he raised upto this level because of some directors(KB,MR,BR etc.,) who wants pull down IR from the throne. Obviously time factor was also helped him very much, films like Aasai, Kadhal Kottai, Kalamellam Kadhal Vaazhga becomes mega hit. Whereas IR couldn't give any successful movie in 1995 and 1996. Rajini also one more factor to building Deva to No.1 position. I think he must have Ego clash with IR. On kamal's part he had also joined with Deva and gave Avvai Shanmugi.
  
  I would like to point out Barathiraja's comment about Deva in one function in 1995. "Devan endru peyar vaithu kondu evallavu sadharanamaga Irukkindrai, Aanal ondrum illadha oruvar thannai devanaga ninaithukkondu irukkirar. Engu ponalum Oorellam un Batsha Padalgal thanaiyya olithu kondirukkiradhu". Deva simply accepted his quote by smiling.
  
  Statement by Chandrabose in SUN TV's Interview "Engal Kalathil ovvoruvarukkum oru thani thanmai irundhadhu. Enakku Copy adipadhu mattum pidikkave pidikadhu. Aanal ondrum mattum Unmai aduthavar paaniyai kadaipidithu kodi katti parapavargal koodiya seekkirathil address illamal poividuvargal. Adhai Neengalum Paarkathan pogireergal"
  
  Statement by IR in Ananda vikatan in 1995, "Andha kalathil Naan, MSV, S-G pondravargal ovvoruvarukkum oru paani irundhadhu. Aanal ippodhu ellorukkum ore paanithan. Adhu Yaruduya Paani endru ungalukke theriyum. Thiramai illadhavargal pichhai edukkirargal. Pichai edupadhu avargal urimai nandraga eduthukkollattum". I think this statement is for Deva only.
  
  As IR stated in his interview in Thamil Thirai Valai, "Namma pangai naama sariya seiyyanum padam vetriperuvadhum, peradhadhum irai arul". I think Irai Arul is now favour for Deva regardless of his performance.
  
  Deva is No.1 in doing lot of movies in a year enbadhu TFM in Thalai vidhi OR Kaalathin Kattayam.

  IR is come back with his magic touch of music.There is nobody can challenge him in music knowledge.Other music director just like Deva,A.R Rahman and Sirpi are copy music.Three of them are rubbish.They must learn many things from our IR(Genius).

  Deva is No.1 in creativity - he copies from animated movies like Lion King ! Ah Ha ! What creative copying ! Can you think of any MD who has done that ?
  
  Deva is No.1 in numbers - Not even Xerox, Canon and all other top photocopiers put together would have copied as many times as Deva has ! Numbers man ! That's where the secret is !
  
  Deva is No.1 in melody - Have you heard any Deva copy that has not been melodious ? Of course man, it takes a special kind of talent to copy melodious numbers !
