Sandiyar renamed as Virumandi and cassette released

The most awaited sandiyar album is released .I heard all the songs.It has totally ten songs out of which 6 songs are sung by kamal himself and two are sung by illayaraja and 2 numbers by shreyaghosal.All the songs are perfect folk and 100% traditional tamil folk songs and the lyrics are excellent in the madurai slang and all are situational songs.I will meet u again with a detailed review.buy the album immediately for die-hard fans of IR

  Watched the Virumaandi special programme on Sun TV ... missed some portions of it though coz of Crazy's Vidaathu Sirippu on Jaya TV! :-)
  
  Kamal-oda Virumaandi get up scene-a irukkupa! ... looks really cool
  
  They showed some bits of 2 songs i guess
  1) ViruVirumaandi
  This was shot in some temple like setting ... looked kinda ... it was like they were gonna make some sacrifice to please the god and requesting him to turn up!
  2) Kombula Poova Suththi
  Initially they were showing Kamal chasing Abirami! .. Abirami was on a TVS 50 or watv and Kamal was in a Van with some 10 ppl ... he did some gymnastics on a pole which was in the van! :-)
  
  and then it was all about how the movie has come out, the effort of all the actors, their involvement etc etc
  
  one good thing which Kamal did for the movie was to introduce many new faces...people who were acting in stage dramas in Madurai were given a chance and that is a good move
  
  Then they showed some scenes from the cassette release function ... the two bulls which were used for the shooting were there on the stage ... Kamal even mentioned their names - Raja and Surya! :-)
  
  There was this big KB advice to Kamal...he wanted Kamal to slow down a bit...wanted him to get someone relaible who wud speak up and correct him if he was wrong...dunno y he made such a statement, but he sed he wanted to say this for a long long time! ... He was all praises for Kamal's Anbe Sivam and kept mentioning that there is no one the world who is as talented as Kamal...Kamal looked to have taken the criticism in the right spirit though
  
  Kamal finally introduced the cast and crew on stage ... this was when he mentioned about Raja and Surya! ... made a special mention about IR ... talked about how much a genious he is and perhaps he is the person that can assist Kamal (with reference to KB's advice) ... he sed that this was no IR comeback as IR never made an exit!
  
  Ended his stuff by saying 'Mannin Mainthan intha Virumaandi' ... that was just about it!

  To add to the above post,
  Periya KaRupa Thevar, a character artist was very emotional talking about the opportunity given by Kamal to so many struggling drama artists from villages including himself.. He plays the role of the Kovil Pusari.
  He also was all praise for IR and his deeply-rooted -in-folk music. IR has made him sing a song in the movie, which he sang in the interview.
  
  Rohini plays the role of a lawer-journalist named Angela Kaatahmuthu, making a documentary on the jail system and inmates, who has also been a victim of the capital punishment system. (perhaps a bit different from Juhi's role in Nagesh Kukunoor's Teen Deewarein).
  
  They of course did not show even for a millisecond, the mindblowing song, "Onna Vida", which probably is reserved for the big screen :)
  
  PS: It remains to be seen whether Sun TV extends the same "enthusiasm" to this film as they are extending to Pithamagan since the 2nd week of its release. It's so painful to see them aggressively promoting the hopeless movie, "Thirumalai" at every given opportunity. As far as I know, they haven't shown any song from Pithamagan for the last so many weeks.

  The only slack thing was the loops "Viru Virumandi" doesn't really re-starts well...
  
  but the Viru Virumandi itself is too good...who cares abt the loop anyway....
  
  looking at Kamal's face throughout the Audio release function i thot he might be thinking

  It is already hyped a lot. I believe Kamal himself made lot of noise. First, he arranged his inauguration in Madurai with a big bang festivity. Then came political paint to the picture. Shooting of the pic stopped afterwards. Finally Kamal finished his movie and then a big release of film songs. I guess all these contributed a big hype and this helped an indirect marketing of the film...
  Kamal himself always hypes his movies.. eg. Alavandhan, Hey Ram .....
  So,we do not have to hype the movie. it was already done

  The virumandi casette album shows kamal expecting something good from the audience. Wait until the movie release. Then only we can start arguing about hit direction. Wait for the day. Until then it's bad upon things to talk gossip. I pray to god for a good move.
  
  Kamal interview in suntv is very fine . he speaks pacca practical. the way he saaid the things is good. i like u macho man

  And that old man KB kept on talking - I felt sorry for those sitting there (and myself) to be watching it.

  You are correct. KB might have given advice personally to Kamal.
  
  'Kombulla Poove Chutthi' is totally wasted in picturisation. It's usual eve-teasing song. Kamal could not match with Ilyaraja's Adi..My expectation of Sandiyar is becoming low..

  Kamal did exactly what he needs to do...he lowered ur expectation before it's release and once u watched the movie..u feel it's super good.

  Those drama people acted in 'virumaandi' are from Karumaathur near Madhurai. Their troop is called as "Thisaigal" kalai kuzhu. And they used to perfom in 'Kalai ilakkiya iravu' conducted by "Thamizhnadu murpokku EzhuthaLar Sangam" all over TamilNadu. I have watched their performance many times. Their songs and their acting bring tears in our eyes. They have one excellent singer Mr. karunanidhi called 'karisal karunanidhi' who has sung two songs in Virumandi.Another lady Mrs. Prema latha also is acting in virumandi. Mr. Thiruvudaiyan who has sung in virumandi also belongs to Thamizh nadu murpokku ezhuthaalar sangam and he also is a great singer,musician(Mirudhangam and tabla are his favourites).

  Are the trailors of 'Virumandi' out on the T.V.channels?Apart from the special function on 'sun T.V.',I have not come across any promo of the movie.As for hype,i feel despite the elaborate inagural function in Madurai&a grand audio release,Kamal has down played the movie.Not many stills,no continous info about the movie to the print media etc.I think people won't go to the movie with sky high expections
