my cousin sent me the cd of "little john"
most numbers by sujatha and sreenivas and it's not a bad effort.
again lot of rahmanish sounds lurking in most of the compositions, my personal favourite is
"paadava paadava" god it reminds me of a lot of songs, but can't remember which ones, and the other ones are pretty average, like "hey lady" for example, and some intresting instrumentations and rhythms in the other works.
much better than some scores like "en sakhiye" and "Doubles" where the composers were making their debut.

'hey lady'lyrics are tasteless.
Sujatha sings 'hey mister dont treat me like sister'
and srinivas follows'un aasai ellaam aadai pottu mudadhe'
if he treats her like his sister then why he wants her to get rid of her shyness.
paadavaa is good but sounds like a combination of poo pookum osai and netru illadha maatram.Sujatha has done a decent job.
laila laila would have been better if it had been sung by a diff singer and with decent lyrics.
Praveen Mani tries to sound like ARR but ends up somewhere between Deva and Sirpi

Ramki:
Sounds like this or that does not matter at all. Because I can quote many of ARR's songs sound very much like one or other old song. I support Pravin for his bold attempt. He looks better than Deva and Sirpi.

Fliflo can you explain what you exactly mean by 'bold' attempt?
I was talking about his music and not his looks. So i dont know whether he is better than deva or sipi in that department

Well when I was typing bold I thought such a question would eventually arise. Bold, in this context is referred to a personality, who is attempting something different from present. When I heard Pravin Mani's songs, I felt he was not resembling like any of the present MDs (IR or ARR or YSR or KSR or Deva or others). His songs, I presume, are hit now and that's because something was catchy in his songs. There was a reason to believe that "HR of Minnale", to some extent, was resembling Rahman but I don't see the same thing with this guy, in spite of originating from Rahman's gang. I see lot of hard work in his songs, but yet not all the songs show a total maturity. There is a lot of usage of musical instruments..and the song "Padava..Padava" has a catchy tune too. With the existence of 'n' number of established MDs today and with many new faces are being successful, it is rather difficult for a fresh MD to give something different that is really catchy. I should say Pravin has passed that. Songs are good but yet I am looking the best from him.

I quite agree that Pravin Mani's effort is quite different from all the other MD's includin ARR..
I did hear that PM has been involved in a lot of ARR hit songs including Shakalaka Baby,Oh Maria
and Jumbalaka....
In fact it has got quite a healthy mix of indian and western fusion and the tune "hooks" are catchy
despite Vairamuthu's below average lyrics ...
Infact I did feel that Harris was striving for the arr sound while Pravin stayed away from it..
"Paadava" is one of the best songs I ve heard in a while .....
I like it personally and I m sure he will carve a niche for himself..
We do need more Md's like PM and HJ to give a boost to the tamil industry..

An album not worth buying. Someone here talked about Deva/Sirpi. Sirpi gave hit songs in all films he scored. This album makes me wonder whether a Suresh Peter album or a filmi album. Has no nativity what-so-ever. Minnale is a great album by HJ compared to this.
1) Lady Don't...Saving grace of the album. Don't listen to lyrics. (Who knows the lyricist might get TN govts award this year).
2) Laila Laila...Again a let down by lyricist. Also I don't understand why our MDs are crazy to use Vasundradas. Sounds similar to Sakalaka baby.
3)Baila Re... Resembles like the Suraangani song.
4) Jagamengum... Starts with some vedha(?)s and changes to just like Vathikuchi song from Dheena.
This song is OK
5) Paadava...Slow song not catchy.
6) Gone case... I believe this may the result of this album (not the MD).
I might sound harsh, but that is in my opinion. All the famous MDs (IR/ARR/YSR/KR etc.,) gave excellent songs in their first album. Certainly PM failed to deliver any good with this album. Hopefully he gives his best effort in his next album.
I also beg to differ with some of the postings comparing PM to Deva/Sirpi. Sorry. They all gave super hits in most of their films. I have posted some of them in some threads. I am not supporting this MDs (for me the complete MD is IR), but don't down grade them. If you have some doubts about Sirpi, listen to Kannan Varuvaan, Janaki Raman, Poochoodavaa, etc.,) And for Deva the list is endless.

Ramki :)
How could one write
'hey mister dont treat me like a sister'
what does he mean by that ? cha :(...,
atleast we can pardon, if it had been
'hey mister dont treat me like a visitor' :)
When PM worked with Arr, his so called contribution sounds really good, but once he comes out....and starts doing it all alone, they suck big time...??
This album is just a collection of various kinds of loops/samples with some vocals added,
Praveen mani =new DJ to TFM, thats all.
