Ilaiyaraja and the bass guitar!
Dear All, Im a newbie to this wonderful site. Ive just been going through the old IR threads, especially 'Ilaiyaraja and the guitar' and the like. I was fascniated by the way ppl had discussed these topics (Mux, Kanchana and Kitcha ... hats Off!) I am absolutely bowled out by IRs use of the bass guitar in many many songs, like Ninnukori, POOgatru PudhirAnathu and so on. Im planning to learn the acoustic guitar and I thought Ilaiyaraja's love for the bass guitar shopuld be discussed more in detail. Please post ur comments!

The song 'Neelavana Odaiyil' has an excellent bass guitar piece in the intro to the song, just before SPB starts singing, and the interludes are good too!

Mr. Prabhudas, thanks for your wishes. Of course Maestro's songs have meant more than anything and have helped me to succesfukky cope with stress and depression better than anything or anybody. I have bought a new guitar, and I'm starting my Isai PayaNam from this week - sole motivation being the Maestro and his Music. I hope to play a lot of hos songs.

I was listening to 'Ennamma Kannu' from Mr. Bharath last week. What a bass pattern this song has! just fantastic. The sharp guitar twangs in the beginning and in the middle of the song are so good, and there is this bass peice going in the background is just stupendous!
How does He do it all the time??
