I'm a new visitor to this website. I couldn't see anyone discussing about Vani Jayaram's songs.
Let me start this one.(It had been there previously pls. forgive me!)

  I think G ragavan had created that group...but I think continuing discussions on this thread itself is better...I mean we can get help from the admin and also many more people can visit this thread/site. The yahoogroups is somewhat an isolated thing, requiring you to sign in and all that. Moreover when I visit this thread, I also do look at other threads on this website. I feel continuing discussions here is a better idea. Lets see what others feel. I have a gut feeling the admin is observing this thread closley and thats why Neels site has been mentioned in the prelude.
  
  This thread has surely been one of the best threads on this site, thanks to Naaz, Neel, Balaji, G ragavan and many more, who know lots and lots about VJ and her songs. There has been maximum emphasis on music here, unlike personal attacks/stupid jokes that are all too rampant (and continuously so) in so many other threads. But I guess this thread had been dormant for a long time - and more discussions on Vani were really needed badly. And then it was reopened by Naaz.
  
  As far as uploading songs are concerned, all you need to do is:
  
  1)Create a yahoo account
  2)sign up for a free 30MB yahoo briefcase at http://briefcase.yahoo.com
  3)Upload your songs there and mark them public for everyone to download. And suppose my yahoo id is XYZ, my briefcase link becomes

  My interest in the newtfmpage continues to grow, and this thread is one of the main reasons. Its been fun, I must say ever since November...barring a few skirmishes I got into ( :-))... which I shall strictly avoid now. :-)

  This thread is the jewel in TFM page's crown. The wealth of information, sharing, recollecting and rejoicing that goes on here is heartening and thrilling at the same time. I am happy I chanced on this forum when I did. It is a blessing.
  
  Neel D: I cannot commend your webpage of VJs songs more. It is a fine effort, and I urge you to continue hosting the site. If I can be of any help, I will be glad to contribute to your collection.
  Sometime this weekend I will fish out my VJ interview clipping from the attic and see if it is good enough to scan and send your way. Your song collection on the page is rare and rewarding. I am sure VJ will applaud your good taste! Keep it going!

  Neel D, here is a small suggestion (if it works for you...): Keep the songs on the page within the "seldom" heard range. The other VJ classics are available at 3-4 (raaga, swara, dhool etc) sites. I think your site could become a resource for rare VJ hits/classical/lost gems.
  Your selection thus far is UNIQUE in its content. You should consolidate this niche!

  I just posted some rare (?) VJ songs to this briefcase thing and set it to be open to the public.
  
  Check the directory songs 2 and tell me whether you can access them and whether the sound quality is ok - I used Music Match Jukebox to convert to mp3 (set to 48).
  
  The songs are -

  aanaa kaanaa (the uyir mei ezhuthu song requested by GR ages ago)

  Music is by MSV for all movies - there are several more songs by VJ in NN that I've already recorded and converted into mp3. Will post as I have time if this thing works.
  
  In case you are wondering, all 3 of the movies are out on vcd which makes it easier to record since you can put the discs in the dvd drive.
  
  I have baala naagammaa etc on video tape and will post that in the distant future since this takes a lot longer to record - you literally have to watch the movie in fast forward to get to the songs.

  OISG - I have been looking for Idhu Undhan Veetu Kilithaan - for a long time. Would you happen to know if there is a link to this song? Or a Mp3. (Also, the UR song "Dhagam Yedukkura Neram" from Enakkaga Kaaththiru - that would be good too!)

  I am also searching for Idhu unthan...The mp3 guys at chennai near Gemini were having that.So someone from chennai must be able to post.
  
  UR's song is a recital but a ok one.Enakkaga kaathiru songs were just ordinary.But Nivas s work was good as a cameraman.The movie was unsittable."Otti malai Kaatile pootu veitha rotile" - great lyric !!!!

  "Pani Mazhai Vizhum, Paruvakkulir Yezhum..." by SPS was also in the same film, right? I did not see the film...It was gone from the theatres before you could say: yenakkaga kaaththiru!! :-)

  aaradhanai was a similar one when we said "AA Rodhanai" .It had some good numbers

  OISG: There's a BMK VJ duet in deiva thirumanagaL? I have the tape, but haven't watched it yet. Will check it out. This is the movie w/ 3 MDs - MSV, KVM, and IR if I remember right for each of the 3 divine episodes.
  
  It's interesting to note that NN is almost completely a VJ score. Perhaps, VJ was identified with these devotional/mythologicals so much that MDs' didn't invite her for other songs??
