  i think its an average album by ARR....from what i could make out in Raaga....

  I think this one has 3 songs everyone will enjoy(Sakkarai,Thotaal Poo Malarum, Kaalayil Thinamum) they sound alot better (especially spider man) at cd quality.i personally enjoyed 6/7 songs so i would say its worth the buy.

  Really surprised that there was no mention about tha "Amma" song. I thought that was the best melody I've heard in a long time - Unnikrishnan with Rahman sure does create magic. Din you guys like it?

  Don't rate in comparison with Aayidha Ezhuththu. NEW is a good album by itself. Atleast 4-5 songs are just mindblowing in my opinion.
  
  And btw...The Markandaeya song...I don't think is any old song. May be u felt that only coz of the instrument used. I dunno what that's called though! :-) I remember songs from Kasedhan Kadavulada and Chandrodhayam with that "thing" in them. But I dunno if that's what made you think that way.

  i mentioned Kaalayil Thinamum(otherwise known as the amma song) =P the song needs no mention it can stand by itself

  Whats with the "if u want song"
  It would have been much better if the lyrics were in tamizh. In the released telugu version, the lyrics are in telugu not english. Even if english adds flavour to certain type of songs, this is a overkill.
  These days in most tamizh songs, either we can't understand what the singer is saying or the lyrics are predominantly in english.
  I am not attacking any MD or their music...I am just saying MDs should give us more "tamizh" songs.

  i dont find the amma song to be so special as hyped here... the amma song by the same combo rahman-unni-vairamuthu from Pavithra ("uyirum neeye") certainly is way ahead of this one in my opinion

  I expected a lot from ARR. I was only too excited waiting for NEW to release. It was stated to release 20 MArch. Then came AAyitha Ezhuthu. It was such a mind-blowing album. ALL 6 SONGS ROCK!!!!!!!!! Posts said New will be "pakka commercial hits". I am disappointed. Perhaps they made him rush into releasing it.
  My perception b4 AE release was NEW would be greater than AE. AE came, I was surprised. I expected NEW to be likewise. Luckily, AE released first. IF not ARR bashers would start more threads like "IS this fall of ARR" or wadeva..
  
  Only few songs from this movie might attract ppl are:
  -new new
  -amma song
  -thottal poo malarum (harini sang in her childish voice)
  -Manikka V song
  
  I FEEL this album cant even make as much as KKS

  I guess all the songs from NEW are by Vairamuthu except the "Thottal Poo Malarum" song. Vaali must have written it in Padagotti and they used it here. So Vaali is given the credits?
  
  Btw...isn't NEW available for download anywhere?? Thanks to my sound card, I don't get them in proper quality if i rip them :-(
