A.R.Rahman's WARRIORS OF HEAVEN AND EARTH

A.R.Rahman's Chinese film for Columbia Pictures Warriors of Heaven and Earth will release in October 2003. Columbia Pictures is the same company which produced Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Here's a video showing clips from the movie. The music that is played is from the film, composed by ARR.

  In fact, the tune (I mean "manmatha rasa") was a hit in all languages where it debuted. The original malayalam song {"chinga masam vannu chernal" (meaning 'when the month of harvest arrives, I will make you mine")" in the movie "meesa madhavan"} was a super-duper hit and helped to make "meesa madhavan" the supermost hit of last year. The song also launched Jyothirmayi, the actress who danced to the tune as a top actress in malayalam.
  There is a Kannada version of the song which has also become a hit, which you will find is being played endlessly on kannada TV channels. I also understand a Telugu version is already out, and possibly a hindi version too. Kind of, it reminds me of "mukkala muquabala" of kadalan, of which there was a version in every language (even kashmeri!) in the 90's.
  Coming to "Manmatha Rasa", the tune has been made peppier in the tamil version by making the female voice raspy (sexed up?), and basing the song more on rythm than on melody (the original song was fast but melodious).

  If ARR wann break through in Hollywood, I always though a film like Matrix would have been an ideal one for ARR's style of compsoition. But chance kedaikkanume .athu vera kathai.

  I really liked WOHE.
  
  The orchestration of the strings section was very well done. It was clear and smooth-flowing!
  
  The themes in the movie were really effective. But again, like IR's BGM it is not supreme as a stand-alone music. It is enhanced when watched with the visuals (or is it the other way round?)
  
  Anyway congrats to ARR. I want him to do more projects like this which are more meaningful for people like him instead of doing bull crap movies in Tamil with same poor hero falling in love with rich heroine with vivek comedy, 2-3 foriegn duets and all that nonsense!

  I feel the same thing. Why don't indian movie makers spend money on creating something like Lords of the rings..
  we have plenty of stories from mahabharat , ramayan to harshwarden kingdom.
  
  idiots spend millions on just one stupid song sequence. I hate most when they portray church scenes to add glamour to the frame..
