Shankar-Ehsan-Loy...maybe the only other MD with Bollywood roots also composing for TF....I was listening to their "Dil Chahta Hai"..except for the title track, all the other songs seem to meander around...but they are the only ones around in Bollywood who give a original techno touch to their music apart from ARR.
"Aalavandhaan" is their next big TF release...would like to hear your opinions on this trio.

//Yes, I 2 can't stand vijay's, ajit's and ESPECIALLY vijayakanth's movies!!!//
yeah ofcourse after seeing Narashimma. Oh Dear... What a horrible movie.
As for the other two, I like Vijay, but two movies where Ajith and Vijay played Anti Hero - Vaali, Priyamudan - were nice
Anyway I think it is better to con
tinue with TFM than TM here.

Situational Songs
All the songs in Aalavanthaan seems very situational...unlike standard TFM songs......
I think they should fit extremely well in the movie..
Music sounds fresh as well ..unlike other new comers who are hell bent on trying to recreate ARR's Style of music ;-)

Aalavandaan's songs are OK..may be below average. not so bad. But you can notice one thing in all the 5 or 6 songs. He mentions about "MIRUGAM"... In someway, KADAVUL paathi, MIRUGAM paathi. then Africa Kaattupuli song. Siri siri, sirikaavittal mirugam...and them the other song. I don't know why Kamal is so into Mirugam.. may be be'coz of the VILLAIN Kamal..But even for a regular song.. he mentiones about MIRUGAM.

The songs are good. These guys are a welcome addition to TFM (IMO). Especially, people who want to hear different rhythms in each and every song will like these guys. Harris Jeyaraj is a 'pretender'. These guys seem more genuine/sincere.

siri siri...reminds NSK songs.....kamal is just wonderful. good use of vocal laugh loops as background but should have limited...i am enjoying...:)

yup ..siri siri reminds me of an old song..actually the whole album reminds me of 'vikram'.. I went back to listen to vikram on raaga.com..hmm..the vikram song has 'electronica' kind of sounds (??). the african song is the equivalent of en jOdi manja kuruvi. the mirugam pAdhi song I guess is the vikram song..maybe not..anyways what I suspect is Kamal made these guys listen to vikram.

One thing I felt when I heard this album, I did not see a "discrete" new style being established or some call it "fresh music".
yes I too suspect Kamal made these guys listen to Vikram. We can hear lots of "kamal" influence, paduthee irupar manushan.:)
for me the African song reminds of few lion king tracks. very well laid track..however.

I find the album interesting, better than same formula tunes we hear from other mds.
Kamals vocal ability displayed in the Kadavul pathi song
but i feel Shankar,Eashan,Loy could have done even better but defintively not a loser
Hope they will given more oppurtnts..
I also like the Aalavandhan songs

Though Africa kind of backing vocals coming for a short while, it reminds me of Paul simon's Graceland. Kamal's vasana kavithai is really irritating, certainly he has overdone it. Somehow 'unazhalagu' has Karthik Raja flavor. An ok album and a nice try by SEL.

Saw "Aks" yesterday. It has a very similar treatment of the psychopath killer...very similar to Aalavandan....
In A, "Kadavul paathi, Mirugam paathi" is the refrain that runs throughout I guess...Aks has Manoj Bajpai mouthing at the fly "Na Koi marta hai, na koi maarta hai"...and the theme also is there is good in bad and bad in good...I hope this doesn't affect Aalavandaan aka Abhay in Hindi !!!

The circus-like psychopath music featured in the trailer....reminds me of another music from an English movie. Its called the "Link". Anybody heard of it? The movie is abt a psychopath pet monkey gone loose. The theme is very alike!
Could Alavandhan's theme been modelled after this or could it be coincidence? I suspect it is the former because both Link and Alavandhan involves psyhcopaths on the loose and creating havoc. Besides, its music is by Jerry Goldsmith. I don't think anybody involved in film music(any language or country) can be unfamiliar abt this globally influential person.

A very long digression :
Ambleen...
I think it is a coincidence..specially in the world of commercial cinema and arts....lots of ideas can occur to different people at the same time. And Kamal has already mentioned that Aalavandhan is the picturization of his published story that he had written long back.
I always get hurt when specially we Indians think that we cant think of our own ideas. As I had mentioned before in the commercial world of film same ideas can occur to different people. It is not so difficult.
Would you believe me if I told you that I had thought of the concept of uploading and downloading of files into the human brain that was used in the Matrix a year before Matrix was made ? I had even publlished that essay I wrote on a website. Can I claim that Wachowski Brothers took that idea from me ?
Shaker Suman was interviewing "KUnal" in his show when "Kadhlar Dinam" was released in Hindi.
When told the story..SS caustically remarked that it sounded similar to a Hollywood film (he meant "You've got mail"). Kunal replied that Qadir had the idea for quite a long time. "Yeah, Yeah..Holywwod Directors lack ideas so they see our Indian films and lift the story !" was SS's acerbic retort.
The point is Bollywood is famous for these lifts but does that mean we Indians have no originality of our own ?
When Kamal made Avvai Shanmugi...the fact is that it looked like an Indian version of "Mrs. Doubtfire"...but Kamal said in an interview that he has had that idea for 10 years.
People not in the creative arts will dismiss this claims as preposterous. But the fact is that ideas can occur to anybody and the first person to execute it publicly and successfully gets the credit.
Remember wireless transmission was first executed by Jagadish Chandra Bose..but Macaroni in Italy got the credit..the West has the technology and money power to do the same.
So I think we Indians should give ourselves more credit !

Wow, good Music - You get the Kick the Very First Time
The Music fits well in the Story. You can almost SEE in front of your eyes, Mottai KAMAL Murdering Manisha.
I am sure the film will run for 300 Days.
I wonder how the Hindi Version of the SONGS are ?
