MSV - Movies with all songs good.

I saw a thread on IR. As a MSV fan, I could not control myself. I am very much sure that I am not alnoe and there are plenty of MVS fans. Please try to keep this thread alive.

  what does it mean to say all songs are good? Or does it mean that all songs are hit? mmm Isn't it subject to listeners perspective? Atleast throw some lights on why they are good. IMO, in Pokiri Raaja, "Vidiya Vidiya Solli Tharuven..." is just great. MV, SJ song is okey, but I'm sure the rest can't be classified as the good song :-))))

  any late 70's or early 80's movies by MSV do not have all good songs (IMO). I'm sure there are great songs in every movie, but not all of them can be classified as great songs :-)))

  GR, very nice observation...in MSV's music, most of the films will have all great songs!(IMO, this list will certainly be l..o..n...g...e...r than any list for IR for all-good-songs in a movie!).

  I rented Ulagam Suttrum Valiban last weekend. Man amazing songs (this would make a person who used to visit this forum, Srikanth happy). All the songs were just great and not even one was sloppy.
  
  Also I was watching "Mannadhi Mannan". For some reason all the songs reminded me of some IR song. Did IR have a strong inspiration from these songs. Another great album from MSV-TKR combo.

  normal man: did you notice that several songs sound different from the tape versions of MM? particularly, kaniya kaniya mazhalai pesum... HMV has chopped interludes, the beginning and the end.

  Lobbying for good songs worked out finally for me
  :) did you note the "grandness" in the score especailly in the song "ulagam" -- the opening violins matches the pan shot which show expo 70s. I have heard Msv took a very short time to compose all the songs, kunakudi vidiyanathan was booked for his movie as the MD, later MGR wanted only MSV to work on this:), how was the recording the boat chase!...scene check it out...

  Re: eden's comment on MSV and MGR movies. I understand MGR had a keen ear for good music. I remember reading what MSV told about this in an interview sometime back..MGR it seems kept asking, "vEra sandham kodunga" so many times, till he was satisfied. MGR extracted the best out of all the artistes that worked with him..that is why it is a 'MGR' movie.
  In case some people mistake this as a 'discredit' for MSV, let me make it clear, no this is not. It is just that MSV had a good judge in MGR for what would make a song popular.

  kiru: in spite of that, i strongly believe msv naurally gave his best for shivaji, eventho' shivaji didn't think so. his music in avanthan manithan, pAttum barathamum, rojavin raja, ... many many movies. to me mgr songs sound more crafted than spontaneous.
