Hi Guys:
Listen to this Telugu Song composed by IR ( I am not sure if this was dubbed in Tamil ) - it's from Surya IPS. This came in 1990
http://64.81.35.203/songs/SuryaIPS_Hattiri.ram
Listen to the Kadhalan Song by ARR ( I am giving the link to telugu version of it - check the tamil one if you want )
http://64.81.35.203/songs/Premikudu_Andamaina.ram
Let the song start, wait and relax to enjoy the similarities.
If there are any such inspirations - let's discuss.
BTW, this thread is not intended to prove that everybody copies from IR. But just curious...

Most of the songs ARR composed till date have not only been inspired but blatantly copied from IR.
ARR is just a sound engineer for IR's tunes.
That too, he takes a hell a lot of time for composing each song.
He is not fit enough to be a MD let alone the fact he is being compared with IR.
All the above my opinion and not anybody else's

Actually, the topic heading says has ARR ""ever"" been inspired? I think answers of mine and Trend fit nicely for that.

Well; ARR is not only inspired by IR, but by MSV too;
Example:
Kattre en vasal vandhay tune of "Rythm" is an inspiration of Aagaya Pandhalile Ponnunjal Aaduthamma from Ponnunjal.
I give the sites just check from there

kAtrE en vAsal vanthAi is a typical IR santham, you could feel it the very first time you heard the song. There is actually a Telugu number sung by Chitra & SPB (composed by IR) in the very same metre.

I felt, as Trend pointed out, the starting beats were looking almost the same except that ARR's is technically more engineered. May fall in inspiration category but not heavily, I suspect.

Flifo,
You have mentined that "konjam copy adichchalum copy....copy thaan.
Paalile oru thuli visham kalandhaalum athu vishamthaan..Paalille..."
I have been taking to you in ARR vs IR and I find you here too. "Yengum Nirainthavan(val)".
Okay, if what you said is true then the same applies to IR too. See my example is in that conversation http://www.newtfmpage.com/forum/24640.09.06.29.html
Regarding Roja...Roja song. Let me tell you what ever my little brain has thought.
The Song of MSV "Sippy irukkudhu muththum irukkudhu" starts in a completely different note and ends in a totally different note from the starting note. Right. ARR's song (Roja ..Roja) starts with the note with which the previous song ended and this song blossoms like anything and it is actually a very good song. For this song again, the start is some thing and the middle portions is very different from the start as the MSV's song which I have mentioned. The similarity is that the end of MSV's song is the start of ARR's song. Both have a completely different body all together.
When I listened to ARR song, I felt astonished to see how he has taken the end portion of a great song and made it a start portion of a new very good song, which I think was a hit all thru the year. I felt happy to see the small thread of link between these two songs. This is what I call it a s improvisation. You take a exsisting piece put your 80% into it and make it new. Every creator creates in this way (including IR -- hope I am not offending)
How about "YErumayil YEriviLaiyadum Mugam Ondru" and "ManKuile Poonkuile sedhi onnu kelu". You might call this a copy, I will say that it is an improvisation (I am a IR fan too).

Well; Many times a MD has lots of struggle in bringing out a totally different tune from their great brains and just pluck a bit from somewhere.
As I argued earlier, different people call that in different ways. But if the song resembles the already exisiting song, it loses its originality (whether it is IR or anybody else). FYI, top MD's don't copy altogether as then they would go down to Deva.

Roja Roja song is a copy of 'Poove Poove Soalai poove' in Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu'. This is a Hindi Song Sridevi Sings in a stage, originally it starts with hindi at the end she will finish with Tamil words.

The rOjA rOjA rOja is a direct lift of
ennai vittAl yArumillai kaNmaNiyE un kai aNaikka from nALai namadhE.
This is the same tune as 'poovE poovE sOlai poovE' from v.n.s (both by MSV).

There's a thin line between inspiration and copying. It's not coincidence. I have some good examples of how MDs takes an existing song and just play/ochestrate it in different raaga to churn out a new tune but the notes were same.
Go and listen to a PurandaraDas keerthana composed in behag raag "dhooruma"...you will understand from where the Kannamoochi charanam and Kandukonde pallavi comes...I will give you the links...in my next posting till then you need not agree on this point - OK:-))
No offense, even IR gets inspired. Listen to the following song in Hindi:
Singer : Rafi
Movie : ChitraLekha
Song : Man Re Tu Kahe Na
YOu can find this song at
http://www.hindigeet.com/rafi.htm
Listen to Bharathi Song
Nitpadhuve - Harish Raghavendar
The flute and violin runs have good similarities.
It's not the inspiration as to what other MDs gets. But IR imported the mood. But the tempo and notes are different. But still you can find the similarities. Listen to the orchestration of the hindi song specially the interludes of both.
What do you Say? What's the authenticity? I say your ears and how clearly you catch the mood.
Again I am just curious.
Anyway who cares so long the music is melodious and good - isn't it?

RC,
We have deviated a lot.Let's stick to this thread's topic which reads "Has ARR been inspired by IR?".
If you want to talk about IR getting inspired by anybody else I think it should be discussed in a separate thread. If I were u,I wouldn't start a new thread!!!
