We had a discussion on songs from Sridhar and Bhimsinghs movies.Why dont we do a similar analyis on

  Ramki - A good topic on one of India's best Directors. I am such a fan of his that I would sit through late nights just to complete watching his movies. :-))
  
  Always thought-provoking, most of the time controversial, his movies seldom fail to leave a mark.
  
  I recently watched Arangetram. Many of the present days stars were in the movie: Sivakumar, SV Subbiah, Jayasudha, Jeyachitra, Senthaamarai, etc. Kamal looks like a real chinna payan! Some of the songs in the movie are:

  An interesting topic. KB is one great director. All his movies were a cut above the rest of the movies of his time. He also could picturise the songs well. MSV and IR provided great songs in his movies. Hope to see songs, discussed in this thread, that one can recollect.

  When it comes to KBs film i think its easy to pick out film that didnt have good songs . For example
  I dont remember any good song from 'punnaghai'.
  Punnaghai is one of the best product from KB with
  damn good performance by Sambhar aka Gemini.
  But the song sequences werent that good esp the sung by Jayanthi(SJ is the singer)when she is being raped...very funny. But as far as i remember there arent any duets in this film.
  
  Another film with 'not very good songs'is 'poikaal kudhirai'.'poikkal kudhirai'is film version
  of crazy Mohans 'marriages are made in saloon'.
  Except for mind blowing performance by vaali there
  was nothing awesome in this film.
  
  Apart from these 2 films all other had atleast one good song.
  Usually the songs in KBs film had strong lyrics bcoz of the intense situations.He uses songs
  to solve certain riddles in his 'thiraikadhai'
  examples
  kamal confesses his love for Srividya in 'adhisaya raagam '
  'ippidi oru thalattu paadava'-sujatha describes her entire life to her ex through this song
  'punnagai mannan 'where both the spouses of Gemini
  expresses their rite over him
  'mounathil vilaiyadum manasatchiye'-one of the best song in KBs film depicts the manaporattam
  of all the 3 characters in 'noolveli'
  'sippi irukkudhu muthu irukkudhu'both sridevi and kamal express their feelings for each other
  
  and so on...
  
  So he never wasted a song over unwanted situations

  MSK IMo the standard of his songs never went down.
  Maragadhamani was at his best in Vaanamae ellai and Azhagan.
  Duet is the best album(in my opinion)of ARR.
  'en kaadhalae ','mettu podu','anjali anjali'are real gems.
