Don't have any such expectations...This is a parthipan movie and not KB...and I read there's some dance sequence, where meena clad in some vegetables (!) dancing with parthipan etc...May be a coupla songs could be good...I'm sure this won't be in the leagues of SB (more so after listening to devan)!

Honestly S, I don't have great expectations and then to be only disappointed.

It was Vels (I think) who drew the comparison.
I recall movie with a real fun song where Deivayanai will be clad in fruits and vegetables. :)
I think it was an Ajit movie with IR's music.
So don't give up as yet. :)

Sinthu Bairavi with just two singers, KJJ and Chitra, was so so fantastic that even the kudikkaran song could be enjoyed.

I don't expect Ivan to be another SB, Just because, bringing another SB is not only in the hands of IR ! Do you think another 'Thillaana MohanambaL' can be made with Prashanth and Laila in lead roles ?

If two songs by Sudha Ragunathan are good, that itself is enough for me from 'Ivan', everything else is a Bonus :-)

Thanks for the link Sabesan. I am not good at making immediate judgements. Just some points:

The songs are definitely different from what is currently widely popular.

Sudha's songs takes us back to the 60s. :)
(I hope IR is not making a point with Enakkinge yaar inai isaiyil.) :)

Personally I would have prefered Chitra as Sudha sounds so, so classical and not filmi.
Will appeal to those trained in classical music, but may miss the masses. (Paadariyen is a superb classical song appealing to the masses.)

Singers Kartik, Febi, Sriram, Subha make the album "look" contemporary.

Generally the songs are not immediately impressive, but may catch on after many hearings.

The Isaiyaraaja on the album cover sounds "clever".

Preliminary conclusion: Ivan is not another Sinthu Bairavi, but nevertheless an interesting album.

BTW, why haven't you listened to it yet?

No only IR composed for this film. Originally Partheepan wanted all the family to score for it but due to lack of dates, only IR could agree.

Isaiya Raja
Isaithal means agree to something.
Isai also agrees to do whatever Ilayaraja wants it to do. You can also take it like this. Final verdict is Music obeys to Ilayarajah. Just my thoughts. Don't take it as a universal truth.

isayaraaja i.e. isai-ya-raaja i.e. isaiya? appa raaja (thaan) i.e. if isai(music) then raaja :-)

but i feel just to be sure that he is a man named to give some different titles everytime he gave something like isaiyaraaja. vidhyaasam aengira marudhal illaadha vyaadhiyinaal vandha veLippaadu.
