Lyrics - The Golden 70s

The 70s is a special period for me and holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately it is a period overlooked by many people and we hardly hear songs from this period nowadays.

Whenever, I have the time, I would like to share the lyrics of some of my favourites and have discussions of this period.

  Talking about marupiravi, I am reminded of a beautiful solo sung by Ms. Sulamangalam Rajalakshmi in the movie Marupiravi. Kanadhasan writes for the music of TR Paappa. TR Ramana was the director.

  Hi Gowri,
  Praptham was a remake of the super hit film MoogaManasulu in Telugu.It created records in box office.Even today it is remembered as a classic in Telugu Cinema.Sad that it was a failure in Tamil.

  Not only Gowri's experience but many others too...
  
  Why is it so?? was it because latter day movies were unrealistic? something most of us couldnt relate too? or was it like 70s was something like a "thulli thirintha kaalam"?? or was it, there was a simplicity in those songs?? skill of lyricists in conveying feelings??

  It is true that the 70s is a largely ignored era in TFM. When people talk about "old songs" it is usually the 60's. The 80s has a huge following and the current songs are popular currently. That leaves the 40s, 50s and 70s without much discussion or appreciation.
  
  Before IR came into the field, it was considered a dry period in TFM - here I am refering to the period when TMS were hanging up their clothes and most songs were given to KJJ, Vani Jeyram and some new faces.
  
  IR's arrival was a breath of fresh air in the scene and even that did not take off stronngly until after 16 Vayathinile.
