6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

the film actually depicts three colours red (abhishek) , blue(vivek), green (ajay devgan)
so the camera also depicts the three colours watch closely

woww!!!! what a time this is... maniratnam movie ready for a release and trailors are out... and rahman's sensational music... a lovely, curious and tantalising time.
first of all the trailors are slick, interesting and most importantly justifies mani's thinking and its resultant effects thro various medium... the music and cinematography.
the best trailor seems to be the abhishek's red one! heard he's got the best role and is sure to go places. and rahman's crunchy fanah - a trance number in the vivek's cool blue trailor is even more interesting. ajay devgan's one is the green respresentation of the rebellious linear mindset and has some fantastic electronic beats with arr's ethnic alaaps of yuvaaa! phew! i am impressed... mani manages to do it again!
i am getting back to times when dil se promos were on air and how excited i felt... nostalgic!
now for the songs....
arr produces so much of new stuff time and again... yuva promises a different spectrum.
loved those bits of anjaane and the aaiytha ezhuthu version of santa kolli, fanah and nanbha song.... rest were to small to comment, but he manages to pull it out in few secong clips..
waiting for the large screen version of this mani creation.... yuvaaa fanahhhhh anbeeee.... nenjeeeee....

only thing that may happen is ppl feel its too western so dont buy the audio (rural areas) but then again BOYS made it so who knows. Usually western songs are picturized bad but i liked wat i saw in the trailors with the trance song. Mani is a director that knows how to picturize songs.
The trance song in Kadhal Virus was used wisely im glad they didnt try dancing to it. But the rest of the songs in that movie were picturized bad.

If nebody can do justice to Rahman's music it's Mani Ratnam. Shankar and Rajiv Menon are up there too, but Mani seems to feel the pulse of ARR's songs like no one else does..
I was fearing how such a beautiful song like "Pachai nirame" was gonna be picturised..
Mani did complete justice to it.. and did that much more. :)

Guys Relax,
I think all of you are over reacting, how can a 20 sec clip tell u that a song is awesome?
Despite being an ardent ARR fan, personally, these clps havent evoked any sort of a response in me! But jus fell one thing though songs sound WESTERN.

Could it be the other way around? just thinking, Mani could provide with infact very good visuals and what he prepares to do with the song, so it gets the best out of ARR!! just a thought?
so ARR could do complete justice to Mani

well , i was there on the first day with my wife,
the audience were mostly asians, including lots of oldies.
most of the crowd would have expected typical arr songs but much to the disappointment of most and to my wife it had a very western classic touch.
the concert started with the theme song of bombay dreams, followed pieces from warriors.. (4 ),meenakshi (2songs),lagaan(so westernised that couldnt even recognise),bombay theme music (sigh of relief from audience)and few others which i couldnt recognise, plus he also sang a verse from dilse re.
he was also interviewed after every song which after some became very irritating as most of the crowd came there to listn to his songs.
he was bald after shaving his head after haj trip,
.he could do with some training in public speaking..he was awkard, spontaneous, mumbly, funny at times.he even said in the beginning that hes surprised that its a sold out concert as no one knew what he was going to play.
one during the show he was conducting the orchestra, and the song has to be stopped and restarted as he was not good at it(as he himself apolegetically said "this is what happens if i do it for the first time without any practise")
birmingham symphony orchestra (atleast 70 of them ) were great and ofcourse the stuff they played sounded great thanx to rehman, but whether the audience came for that kind of music is anyones guess.
during the question time he was asked about his future plans with indian movies..in his own words he said "i cant be in madras, bombay, london newyork, therefore after finishing maniratnam and another movie,he has no immediate plans now.he is going to conduct few more orchestra making new music(not a rehash like this) mostly by nov 2004 there will be another concert.
his next big venture is making music for lord of the rings.. some thing all of us should definetly should be proud of.
ofcourse there was lots of talk about god and how it infleunces his music etc..
came out feeling mixed feelings,on one hand one of the best orchestra(completely white crew) in uk is playing the music of a south indian guy for a packed audience, on the other hand dissappointed that none of the songs were familiar and sounding nothing like indian music.not even one indian instrument, as my wife said she might as well go to western music concert and get bored there.
they played only 10 numbers repeating bombay piece twice and a piece from warriors.. 3 times.

FactFile,
Yes you can tell ALOT from a 20 sec clip. Why else would they release only a 20 sec clip. You can tell alot from a person just one first meeting why not a song?
