  Manirathnam is another mediocrity in the intellectual garb who cannot come near Balachander or Sridhar. What about Ayutha Ezhuthu? Even the 80's movie paalaivana rojakkal was a better political film. He is just a fake and people have started seeing thru that hype .

  paran, all that madhavan's software company business was the heights of comedy. I wanted to ask mani which American company was awarding the
  2 billion dollar contract over the phone. lol!
  Iruvar and Anjali were good and sicere attempts.
  Except the eezham scene all the adoption business was artificial, a put on.
  thalapathy compromised for rajini's superstardom and the film fell flat when mamooty, instead of rajini was shown dying. All the pazhi vaangal by rajini after that was unconvincing.Why name the film thalapathi in the first place if mani was scared to kill rajini??
  First let mani's characters speak naturally without that mani affected syndrome. I could hear only mani mumbling and fumbling through all his characters. I dread to think what if sivaji were to mouth mani's monosyllables.
  Though inspired from Godfather, nayagan was easily mani's best.

  MR needs to come out of the psuedo-intellectual shell he has created for himself, follow his heart and make a film that appeals to his conscience
  
  Mouna Ragam, Nayakan and Anjali were the only three films which he had made with genuine heartfelt commitment - Roja came a rung next
  
  the others were just labored endeavors with too much predictability and cashing in on the music director's talents (IR) and popularity (ARR) for the product's success

  This is the right time for MR to realise that his directorial touch alone won't make a blockbuster. His disasters started when he came off from IR. Roja was a hit because it was a different theme and fresh music from ARR. But then, was there a single hit for Mani? don't say bombay - it was a flop (one of my friend bought it and i know how he is now!!!). ask bharathi raja he was not able to give a good movie after he left IR. now it's the right time to get back to a MUSIC DIRECTOR and not a SOUND ENGINEER.

  Sridhar a great director. Yes thats right. There are people like mahendran as well. But you call Balachandar a great director?
  Illicit illegal relationship la padam edukkara aaL avar. If mahendran or sridhar make a movie even today, it will be a hit. Same cant be said of KB

  Totally agree...
  Mani should realize that the great IR is not with him anymore...
  All his films used to have this type of dialogue delivery right from his early stages... Pls go back and grab some old videos and check...
  
  IR would fill the gaps with his outstanding BGMs. So dialogue kammi-aa irundhaalum.. IR vilaiyaadiduvaaru.. difference theriyaadhu....
  But, it is missing nowadays...
  
  Pls dont come back on me harshly...
  just mute your volume and watch some of the scenes in Idhaya koil, mouna raagam, anjali, dalapathi, naayagan, idhayathai thirudaadhe, pagal nilavu...

But I don't support his latest trash like paarthaale paravasam. Enna aachu KBkku nnu thaan naan nenachen PP paarthuttu.
  Cinefan as long as somebody criticizes Mani's work and not Mani as a person I don't think you need to get worked up.

  irfan and Musiclover can anyway stop this,Mani's movies if hit,they are hits for Mani,if they suck,it's again because of Mani..i don't see any role of MD coming in to lift the movie.
  
  Pagal Nilavu was a disaster even with IR's brilliant score.Iruvar collapsed even with Rahman's score.

  Mani IRa use pannalengra kobama ? :-) Compared to trash like Gilli and other movies out there, AE is still a few notches above. Its just a fun-filled entertainer like Agni Nakshathiram with a light message to it. Talking of flops, even Hey Ram was a super duper flop.Anbe Sivam was another dud. Adhukaaga Kamal "fake"nu arthama? Kannaththil Muthamittaal is one of the best movies to come out in the last 3 years. Bala could learn some subtley from watching that film. His over-the-top scenes towards the end of Pithamagan were revolting to say the least. Mani has matured as a filmmaker since the 80s. His forte is style/presentation and in that he has been solid. He is certainly not flawless(those one-word dialogues wear on you sometimes) but he is the best TN has to offer right now.

  Vijay , are you comparing HeyRam with AE???. Hey Ram was a much better film. ANd like wise was Anbe SIvam. But cant really say about AE. Though AE was definetly above the crass movies like Thiruda Thirudi and the likes, but at the same time i wont place it on the likes of Hey Ram and Anbe Sivam. AE, would have been much better if the screen play was refined and more pacy. Comparing Agni Natchathram and AE, the former was absolutely pacy (forget the irritating climax scene, visually paining :) than AE.
  
  I guess Mani, now a days is trying to prove that he is a whizkid in technical innovations but falters badly in screen play. There are moments of excellence in all his recent movies, but those are not enough to sustain the audience.
