This may be a 'crazy' query,

But whenever some big arguments (related to TFM) are happening in our DF Threads, somebody or other quote an example / uvamai from Cricket ... ARR is tendulkar, IR is gavaskar, MSV is Bradman, Harris Jayaraj is virendar sehwag and latest - our dear friend rajaG is mohandas menon and so on .... :-)

Is my assumption right ? - Most of TFM DFers are interested in cricket too ..... ;-)

To me Baradwaj is Bob Simpson of 1977.( ARR goes for Packer ...er ..er ..Webber )Age was not on his side yet the performance was good.

Sanjay Manjrekar though technically competent in many areas. Had serious flaws in some areas. His weakness is not unidentified.

1) outside the offstump is a problem doesnt know where is off stump is at the start of the innings
2) had a huge bat pad gap for sometime.
3) had mental blocks...much like the way rahul dravid is.. play for long time w/o scoring and gets out when he makes his 1st wicket after looking good.

Yes, the same clown. The guy could never make up his mind what game he was playing - cricket or hockey. His hoick to the leg resembled a penalty strike.

Maybe Karthik Raja and YSR are like Grant and Andy Flower. :-)

Nice to see so many cricket fans here and the analogies are terrific :)

I guess IR of old(with beard) was like Vivian Richards(those composed-in-45min Chinnathambi songs were like Viv's many explosive knocks.)
In that case, Roja's release was like Kapil taking Viv's catch in 83 WC final!!

I have never seen Pele play (except for highlights) so I specifically did not mention him because I have a sneaking suspicion he might be better than Maradona! :)

To me Maradona is/was the greatest, since I saw in 1986 what magic he is capable of.

Laver won the grandslam both as Ame & Pro.
Borg never won the Australian & US open.
Pete never won French.

ARR is the numero uno in Indian Film music today So he should be Rod Laver.From Kutch to Megalaya and from Kashmir to Kanyakumari all the producers want him.This is the case since 1995.Pro or Ametur Laver was the king so is ARR.

IR should be Becker.Pulped by Mecir in 1986 in the US open ,hit by Penfors in the French open IR got the same treatment in HFM from mediocre Bappi,Jaded LP.In that vein Maragathamani with "Azhagan"should be Peter Doohan.But you think of Becker,Wimbledon comes to mind automatically.

MSV should be Pete.Pete knew he can never make it at Roland Garros ,the same for MSV in HFM.Like Pete MSV has more triumphs than anyone in TFM (wimbledon) but the Becker-Wimbledon link ...hmm.

HJ should be Pat Cash..You always wonder How and why he won!

Bardwaj should be Andrez Gomez 1991.He managed to beat a much younger Agassi.

TMS should be Lendl.Remeber "Grass is for Cows".

Sirpy should be Greg Rusdeski and Tim Henman SA Rajkumar.Irritating creatures!
