  "Kannana poomagane kannurangu sooriyane.." from "ThanNNer ThaNNer" by P.Suseela. In that song, no.of musical instruments, according to MD MSV, are 2 or 3. And there is interlude in between para's. A continuous lullaby song...very apt for the situation in the film.

  caught sight and sound of B VASANTHA on aboorva raagangal last week. she sang a very rare song and surprised to know it is her. PONGUTHE PUNNAGAI from ippadiyum oru penn. also ESU NAADHAR PESINALL.. any idea which film. good show by aboorva raagamgal by bringing such rare singers.

  Esunathar pesinaal...is from the film Thaaye unakkaaga KVM is the composer. Also Vasantha has sung Thamthana namthana (Puthiya Varpugal).

  Can anyone recall a song (a lullaby) from some film (1978-80)which goes like this ( in Anandhabhairavi ragam, perhaps by SJ and by some MD other than MSV and IR):
  
  "Kanne, kannaana kanna ponne, poomeni vannaa unnaal en vaazhvil inbam pera vendum".
  
  In one stanza, Surulirajan features as an eunuch and sings
  " Pullayaay naanum porakkura podhu pala peru vandhu paaththaanga! Ponnaa aanaannu kettaanga ! Enakku paavaada daayaru (Drawer) koduththaanga!"
  
  Arasarin indha sandhegaththai theerththu vaippavarukku aayiram porkaasugal vazhangappadum!

  'Kanne kannaana kanna' is from Pennukku Yaar Kaaval (1980). Jayachitra was the actress.

  I checked up from knowledgable sources in the Finance Ministry. They're saying porkasugal is no more valid currency! But for this small technical hitch, I would have rewarded you!

  Can you recall the name of the film (with Singer, Lyricist, MD, year etc.,) (Sripriya starrer) in which the following song features?:
  "Raaththiri naan thoongaamathaan muzhichirundhene, adhu aaraale oru aalaale! Aanazhagan enna solla tholirandum thulla thulla paartha vizhi aedho mayakkam" etc.,
  
  Can you also recall the 1984 film (with singer, MD, lyricist, starcast etc.,)in which Mu. Mehta wrote the following song?: (I think he wrote for very few films only with his famous quip " I would rather be in Munnani rather than in pinnani")

  Other songs: Karumbu murikka pona ponnu-SJ

  A few queries (if you have the patience to rack yor brain!):
  
  In 1980, there was one 'Anbe Sangeetha' which had the song 'Geetha! Sangeetha! Sangeethame Sowbhagyame, kuzhalosai konjum un mohanam!' etc., by SPB+???. I am not sure if the MD was IR or GA.
  
  I think the same film had three other songs:
  
  
  1. Adi aatha aatha aatha, rendu pondaati naan katti paaththaa... by JC???
  
  2. Peththaalum peththenadaa, oru pokkiri paiyanathaan.... Kaala vachchaan, rendu kaiya vachchaan , vaala mattum vittu vachchaan....
  PaLLikkoodam unnai anuppa pal udainju pogudhada!
  Ooruchanda thaan onnaa rendaa pozhuthu vidinjaa! badavaa payale nalla pera vaangu! by JC
  
  3. Some 'kabaddi' song: Naanthaan ongoppandaa, nalla muthu pErandaa, thangap pirambeduththu thaali katta vaarendaa, vellip pirambeduththu vilayaada vaarendaa, vaarendaa, vaarendaaa.......
  tending to infinity!

  Anbe Sangeetha came in 1979. It starred Jaiganesh, Sumitra, Radhika and Thengai Srinivasan. Music by Illayaraja. I remember only 3 songs and all of them are great songs:
  
  1.Geetha Sangeetha- JC and Jency
  2.Peththaalum peththenada- JC and SPS
  3.Sinnappura ondru -SPB, with SPS humming.
  
  While Geetha Sangeetha is a melodious duet, with a memorable opening humming by Jency, the bigger hit was SPB's pathos filled, haunting Sinnappura ondru--it remains to this day as among his best songs. However the picturisation was ghastly- Thengai gets to sing it- and his overacting and terrible expressions, especially in the interlude make a disaster of this lovely song.
  SPS' humming too is remarkable.
  
  Reg. the JC solo you have mentioned-perhaps it is also from Anbe Sangeetha- I don't remember.
  
  However 'Nallamuthu peranda' does ring a bell- I am trying to recollect--
  
  C V, in VJ's thread, please fill in details of starcast of 'Maharaasi vaazhga' and 'Veedu varai uravu'- Also, any details reg. the storyline of both.

  I think it is a song where Kamal fights. It goes
  Nandhan ungoppanda, nalla muththu peranda...vada... puliyada mugamadhaliyada..

  I think I have a different number in mind! I heard it only once in some 'Vilambaradharar Nigazhchi' around Apr-May 1980 and never thereafter! In any case, these lines seem to be very original tamil folk, common in many TFM 'kabaddi'songs.

  Cinema Virumbi: I think i discovered that song of PJ (also TLMaharajan, you won't recognize the difference in the voices, it is a duet!) Ada aaththa is kind of a prelude, but the main song is: Adi Maaney Nee Roja Chedi, Vandhu Nillu Edi, Kazhuthiley Thaali Keturendi (that is my line) or Katturambu koochum ennnadi or something, Mayiley Kuyiley Maalaye Tharava.
  
  What a fantastic dappanguthu / rhythm song. Another one i discovered 2 years ago is: Podhum Podhum Un Vesham fro the film Oru Iravu Oru Paravai, again fanstastic rhythm puts rahman to shame. The same movie there is another fantastic SPB disco type number. S_Ganesh must have modeled their superhit Ketthadu Kidaithidhu on that IR disco number

  I am more or less convinced that is the number! I also faintly recall " Maane theney ..... Mayiley Kuyiley Maalaye Tharava". Who's PJ by the way? Is the film "Pornami Nilavil" ( a snake film in which Vijayan turns into a snake on and off!), by any chance? (It had a beautiful song "Muzhu Nilavu saayum neram, thaazhai madal poovin vaasanai, manadhil oru kaadhal vedhanai , idhu maarumo etc.,")
