Tune for Lyrics...

TUNE FOR LYRICS

I just wondered, Whether i can count IR songs in this category. I started counting
one, one, one.... Oh ! God ! I can't count
further. The one song is

" Vizhil Vizhuthu Emayil Nuzhayinthu...".

Is there more songs by IR in this category. Folks please help me out.

What about ARR and MSV?. Any idea?.
I know MSV has done lot. But I only count few.

Folks, One more questions. This arised to me
as i was typing. Here is the question

Q) I know IR does all sorts enhancing things with Ragas and Folk tune for TFM songs.
But has he done GREAT songs without any
RAGAs or FOLKS tunes as base.

A point to Ponder (&*76^*^9@7&9) Isn't it?

  You are probably right in guessing MSV to be the MD with the highest % of tunes composed for lyrics among the three mentioned above. Different eras, different criteria for judging TFM songs, kaNNadhAsan, and so on.
  
  iLayaraja has composed tunes for some of the Bharadhi songs. veeNaiyadi nee enakku from EzhAvadhu manidhan? ninnaiyE radhiyendRu? Also, the melody for kuniththa puruvamum kovvaich chevvAyum from literature which was used in the middle of rAkkammA kaiayaith thattu in thaLapathy. There is an ANdAL pAsuram which he used in some movie too--I forget the pAsuram and the movie now. Also, for the recent TV serial "then pANdi cheemaiyilE" Raja composed music for lyrics written by Mu. Karunanidhi. Surely, there should be a few more?
  
  Rahman has composed "melodies" (not complete music) for the short verse indhiraiyO ivaL sundhariyO written by thirikooda rAsappa kavirAyar, which serves as the pallavi tune for ennavaLE in kaadhalan.

  I thought "Kannukku Mai Azhagu" - Pudhiya Mugham was written before the 'ARR tune' was composed (I mean, like several years before the tune was composed !). Am I right ? I remember seeing the original song on DD. The singer was wearing specs (PS ?). I still remember the original tune though !

  Kanchana, Eazhaavathu Manidhan's MD was L.Vaidhyanaathan. Srinath, you're right about "Kannukku Mai Azhagu", it was one of VM's favorites and he wanted to get it recorded for a movie, somehow IR never took to the song while they worked together.

  Infact this kanuku maiazaku has been used by MSV for a DD program. long time ago
  Sung by Vani Jayram or chitra -- I dont remember....
  The tune is more MSV'ish

  2) In Raja Raja Cholan, the intro song about "raja raja chola" was written by Kannadasan and MSV-TKR thought a lot and came up with that tune it seems. To beat all of them, namma thespian thought for
  even longer and showed 9 different faces while
  coming down from the steps it seems. I remember
  reading this somewhere. May be in the tit bits section.
  
  3) In nAdOi mannan, "thoongAthE song" by pattukottai.
  
  4) In kalangarai viLakkam, "Sange muzhangu" by
  BharathiDasan.
  
  5) Many bharathiyar songs sung by MSS, PUC, MKTB KJY, and KBS. The music directors i remember for these songs are SV Venkatraman, IR and
  G Ramanathan.
  
  6) Many songs from "patinathar". Who is MD?
  
  7) From Iruvar pallavai of "naRu mugiye" taken from puRanAnooRu??. Another line "sembalapuyal
  neer pOl anbudai nenjam thAn kalandhanavE"
