Is Ilayaraaja an E.T.?

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

One song's preludes and interludes bewilders me to this day. There has not a day in the last 23 years that this song has not come in my mind. To tell you what I feel about it. The prelude (leave aside those equally intriguing interludes) alone knocks out Bach's Tocatto and Fugue in D Minor (which is a piece that got me attracted to IR's music in the first place. I was always a baching before that.) in every facet of impossibility of creating such dizzy music! That is why at times I think IR is probably an ET! Anyone feels like expressing some similar feelings about IR (I tell you I can't think of any other human being as E.T. as IR. Sorry, ARR you don't qualify. KR and YSR? In due course, we will know!) let us freak out here, what do ya all say, folks?

  Of course ARR does not qualify. He is human after all, unlike your Ilayaraja who is an alien.

  I think i got this topic of to a good start! thanks to X-Files. (I tell you I am tired of these FBI idiots, hey, but they are welcome.) Right now, as per TLC Aliens have extraordinary technologies and humans are still only just grapplying with sound engineers turned composers... Please, please keep it coming. i am right now watching Emeril Live... responses from X-Files will be like side dishes... i tell you, i am enjoying this. there is a bunch of alien haters 'out there'.

  I first thought that this guy was making fun of IR's looks.( I had seen the movie ET).I had seen in the threads-TR ARR being called Karadis..
  
  Please UFO ,there is a limit to the use of superlatives.Otherwise you will end up getting responses like "Engeyo Tholanjitaru".

  But please put up somewhere BIG and in Bold your second last statement: "There is a limit on the use of superlatives." :)

  I was really angry on seeing such a heading.On seeing UFO's text i too had a hearty laugh;not at the content, for sure, but at my deadly imagination.
  
  I am sure, UFO, like all other HCIRF,is out to degrade IR by making baffling comparisons and ourageous use of superlatives.

  It takes an ET to know another ET. i don't hate aliens i'll tell you why... so far my evaluation is one thing: that ARR fans have a monotheistic mind-set... (can't wait for the BD eh.. pity you guys have to wait for the blue moon to get one album from this composer.) more about this, after I finish with Rao' Kitchen on Food Network, who by the way happens to be Italien!!!!! There are many songs which make feel that IR is the greatest ever MD: just listen to " Innarul Tharum anna poorani" from Aathma. "IR'i padaitha Brahmane IR-i paarthu Anguvaan."
  
  Many of the younger generation would not even heard of song like this. Not to bale them. they are too engrossed in viewing what sat TV channels claim as "super hits". See, WhyNot is crying that somebody stop the TV!

My idea is make this forum interesting. why discuss IR only in so many boring ways that has been going on for several years now, eventually ARR is brought in and discussion takes twists and turns. okay, here is the catch. most of the agonizers and spoil sports (yennamma kannu, sowkyama?) just jumped the gun. very jumpin to concludings... yennada pollada vazhkai, ada yennada... Did I say anything about ET or UFO in the opening para of this thread? only X-Files and a couple of others probably missing a good ARR album in the last so many years were responding angrily. Come on, this is for healthy and fun discussion. what is wrong in somebody being creative and havingin interlligent fun. After all, IR is not enjoyed just by plain folks, but also by mediocre guys and many successful people. Okay, so we get to the ET.
  
  I cleared the UFO thing. ET, I meant extra-ordinary talent. This is a phrase used by Kamal Haasan himself. I mean, we all say IR is genius and so on, but I wanted to discuss IR in terms of ET...

  Dnt you think the praises being showered on Ilayaraja are getting a little too much?? Everyday a thread is opened which says the same old thing - IR is the best, IR is the best. We all understand and accept that IR is one of India's (or the world's)most immeasurable treasures, so we dont need people to remind us about that every hour. Or we dont need to raise him to the status of God, or demean every other worthy MD's work as being insignificant in comparison to IR's.
  
  Praises on IR (AND on SPB) have become CLOYING. Its like forcing people to eat 200 chocolates in one day!!
