I saw Ullam kollai poguthe song from sirappu puthu paadal in SUN TV. Guess the cassette was released on 27th Jan '01. There are the 10 songs. I saw "Puyale Puyale" Song.
Puyaleh Puyaleh - Udith Narayanan
Anbe Anbe - Unnikrishnan
Kavithaikal Sollava - Hariharan
Anjala Anjala - Devan, Harini
Kingudaa Annan - Mano, Prabhu Deva
Kavithaigal Sollava - Hariharan, Sujatha
Kathavai Naan - Hariharan, Karthik Raja
Oru Palaivanathai - Hariharan
Uyire En Uyire - Hariharan
Adadaa Adaddaa Yaar - Hariharan
Looks like a score board with hariharan bagging 6 wickets sorry songs. More info. welcome!
Raja kalakku raaja nee! Yuvanum Karthikkum Veluthu Vaangaraanga!

Each and every song by Hariharan is wonderful and extremely melodious. Something of different beat by KR. Not his usual way but entire album is a melody, melody and melody!
I would like correct the list above, 'Kavithaigal Sollava' is by SPB & Sujatha. This song is excellent and probably the top in the album.
Again, the touch of the song is something unique given so far by KR. They are not simply to the current trend (in terms of those unnecessary 'polishing' with mega-drums and high pitch shoutings) but I bet they're new! They are soft...comparable to the one given by ARR in 'DUET' in which ARR promotes melody rather than heavy beats.
Three songs ie. Puyaleh, Kingguda and Anjala-anjala are some kind of Prabhu Deva's stuff and largely resembles our Deva (MD) but indeed good recording. Can see 'KasuMeley' (KaAthala K.) style in Kingguda. The best of these 3 is Anjala-anjala. Good drums. Partly resembles one song from Naam Iruvar N.I. but different concept.
I am a layman in music. This brief might be insufficient. Please share more. Thanx.

nvd is right.
Uyire Uyire is beautiful song and it will haunt you for sometime. HH sang very well especially the carnatic style interlude.
Uyire Uyire, Adada Adada by HH? (sounds like IR), Kathavai Naan, En Paalaivana are small and beautiful songs. I wish they all are full songs. They all last between half a minute to one and half minute.
Kavithai Naan Solla (Solo version is Slow and duet version is fast) is a full length beautiful song.
Kingudaa is another 'Kaasumele..' type song and I believe this will be a chart buster. (This song can easily mistaken as Deva's song.) I like this one.
Overall a different album with many melody tunes (not sure whether that will suit PrabuDeva). I am not sure whether it is intentional. I will say this is an IR style album with ARR type recording.

S T S.,
'Adada Adada' is by Karthik Raja and Hariharan.,
IMO, this is a pretty average album by KR, Ofcourse 'KavithaikaL sollava' is a wonderful song and 'Anbe En Anbe..' has all the emotions that the song needs., Other than these two songs and HH's excellent work on all the Short songs, I don't find anything extraordinary here.,

I think that this is a very good album by KR...
much much better than Vanchinathan... the emphasis
on melody is very apparent...
And I could'nt recall any other movie which had
two top singers singing the same song.. (ie not
together.. each singing solo)... Whose would u
vote is better... SPB or Hariharan ??
:-)

kumar.,
Yes, I agree - it is better than Vanchi :-)
Reg., the other one, My vote goes to HariHaran - SPB' Duet version is also good, But as Hari Sings the Sogap paattu very well, he deserves some kaithattal !
However, I am not able to guess why KR went for HariHaran to sing that version., why not SPB again ?

For those who want to listen KR's latest, go to www.tamilbeat.com
You can find mp3 version of the songs and aslo from other new movies like Dheena, Vanchinathan, Minnale,... But there are some problems on some links (dead). You have also some movie previews and reviews.
A part from this discussion, can any 1 help me to find the MP3 songs from "En Jeevan Paduthu" (starring Kartick and ? (the girl in Nayagan)), music scored by Ilayaraja ?

Its an average album nothing special about it.
Better than Vanchinathan
May be we can give another chance in Dum Dum for KR
that also made me think what kind of review he will get here is a sample. Its just an imagination
Kumudam - Padathin titlel KR podaranga athoda seri matrapadi onnum sollum padi illai.
Vikatan-Kavithai sollava padalil KR jolikirar
Dinakaran,Dinamalar,Thinabhoomi they always write same comments about songs so here goes -Padalgal anaithum inimai kulumai.

I can tell that KR has got some new synthesizers and mixing gear. So the quality of the mix is very good. Earlier he used to have high levels of bass with reverb which muddied the midrange(vocals). Now I dont see that mistake. The choice of synth drum kit is also good (more hard sounding). He has also used more natural instruments (guitar etc - flute is synth) and the recording is not 'rolled off' so that it sounds smooth like ARR's.
Re: KR and YSR. IMHO, YSR does more rhytmic/pacy numbers. KR is into melody just like IR. Pure melody is not 'catchy' immediately. So we will have to keep this in mind while judging albums. YSR is more POPish KR is less and more of the classical kind. You can say he follows IR's style.
Now my hope and wish - IR also will get to use the equipment and we have better sounding (sonic wise) albums from IR now on. (Note, my suspicion is YSR uses his computer to mix so does not have to use the reverb/mixing gear in the studio which IR and KR have been using).

Just returned from Bangalore,KR's new (First) kannada movie "hoo anthiya... hoo ..hooo anthiya" was released 2 weeks ago, average to OK album, 2 songs are good, the Cassette /Cd releasing ceremony apparently had a solo concert by KR on the stage, local media gave a good review of the album.IMHO, much better than "Vaanji...", the sales of Dheena and Friends cassettes and CD's were great in TN during my visit. "Dheena' , songs are really good, good job by YSR

About KR's music it says:
The film would be a youthful feast. Music would be its other strength. Karthik Raja seems to know the pulse of the audience. He has scored a lilting music so as to suit the emotions of love and the exuberance of youth.
