"The album kicks in with the very catchy ye ye ennachu sung by Vasundhara Das in manner that only she can. Next is a beauty of a ballad sonnalum by Unnikrishnan and Harini.
Vaan nila by Srinivas and Karthik is a highly innovative rock-n-roll track that would not let your feet rest. S P Balu is in his usual fantastic form in the heart warming yenthan vanin. Rahman takes off again into a very progressive FTV style track in bailmore with T R Simbu and Tippu doing the vocal honours. And the album ends on a grand note with Mano and Clinton going for the gut with o kadhale, which also sits on an emotional high note in the movie.
Kaadhal Virus has all the ingredients of a typical Kathir-A R Rahman soundtrack. A great mix of upbeat youthful tracks and soulful ballads"

Kadhal virus review
1.Yenthan vanin
it is a very melodious song.i loved the lyrics.i think spb 's voice was a big plus point.it catches on u after some listenings..
orchestration is good.
I would give a 9/10
2.bailaMore
wish i could understand the lyrics..however hard u try,u cant.but rahman has tried something new in this song in the sense that it was techno.the vocals could have been better.very poor pronounciation.
I would give a 7/10
3.o kadhale
i would have preferred spb in this song.mano was good ..the background resembled a song from Bombay and a song from kadhal desam.lyrics are simple .it could have been better.think it missed the azhutham
i would give it a 8/10
4. Sonnalum ..
i would say this is the best song in the album.the lyrics are good.the vocals are good.the tune is excellent.check out the flute
i would give it a 10/10.
5.Ye Ye
Not a bad song.but nothing new about it .
i would give a 7/10
6.vaan nila
again a OK song.i would give it 8/10

4 superb melodies in a single album..worth the wait. Hats off to Rahman.
Except for bailamore every song is good and the lyrics are clearly understandable.

Sorry for posti8ng in a wrong thread ..
Hi friends ,
(I heard all the songs in Kadal virus ...here is the review .........
1.Ye ye yennachu (vasundra Das)
Beat song ...the pace is low ..starts with aypical western beats and blends into a western classical with some wonderfull violin in the end ....but still will take some time to catch ..7.5/10..
2.sonnalum (unni krishnan,Harini)
A veru good melody from AR Rehman Sounds like Poi sollakudathu from RUN movie ....a good melody ...8.5/10
3.Vaan Nila (srinivas ,Karthick)
This reminds of olden illayaraja rock like (meggam kottatum etc ) ,a very good number ......The eefect of bombay dreams is clearly there in the beats and in the violins ..
4.ENthan Vanil (SPB ,Swarnlatha )
A melody from SPB ..Can be compared to Thoda thoda in INDIRA .....a very good, neat melody ..9/10
5.Bilamore (simbu ,tippu)
the song is inspired from western rock and dancing tunes ..AT the first hear i thought it s a crap from AR ,but on repeate dhearings it is not so ..But still not a very good song ......
7/10
6.O kadale (mano ,clinton)
A melody which sound the same as the SPB song and hence the same comment applies ....8.5/10
The effect of Bombay Dreams is there in the whole album ..STill not the ALbum of the year ...will be ahit ,but i doubt if it will make a mark when albums like Abum ,LESA LESA ,run ARE there ...

the first song eey ennachi ennaku first stanza was a direct lift from ghetto vibes the song is"iam ghetto"
the album is good not to the atandards of arr
he should give more quality as he did in rhythm, dilse, lagaan, pp, kannathil muthamital and alaipayuthey, kadhalar dinam, kadhal desam
it 's a stuff which rehman produced when he was a very young music director, now he should give more quality not just hip-hop songs.
but in the current dull picture in music world defintiley it is abetter album worth ur bucks

hi guys
got the mp3s thanks to saravanan and they have been in repeat from yesterday.. I just want to emphasize that this review is based on these mp3 @ 48kbps.
1. Yendhan Vaanil - wonderful start by swarnalatha and she melts into a soothing chorus vaazhgave... and then in comes SPB..he reigns supreme and specially in the charanams. At this quality, i can barely make out any bg and those little stuff that you have come to expect in rahman. second best song in the album in my opinion.. 9/10 (Do u think tis going to suit the Richard guy?)
2. Sonnalum - I am surprised Mumbai Ramki found it similar to Poi Sollakoodathu.. Maybe its me, but i cudnt find any. But, the start sonnalum ketpathillai sounds very close to vendiya varangalai (needhan desiya geetham in PP) but it can be forgiven. Unnikrishnan has sung a sensible song in a very very long time. And he does it in style and it makes me all the more sad, considering his potential, he is being wasted to sing Chil Chil Chillalla and Ovvoru Padalilum types. Unless he wants to follow the footsteps of hari who was finished off by his second-rate songs. perfect is the word. 10/10. (check out harini who is oh so sweet)
3. Ye Ye - Vasundhara in all her glory after her recent misadventures like pokhara and i like u. Probably she is the only singer (maybe anupama.. but only maybe) who cud have sung this song.. I have fallen in love with the opening.. when she says kadhal virus unnai thakkiyadho.. very very grand.. (i am somehow reminded of a 007 movie OST... i think the one with sheryl crow crooning. but cant make it out precisely.) And the Whats-that-effect, ye ye unakku ennachu, indeed sounds like one of those innumerable britney, christina variety but i dont think rahman would care to imitate a particular song. He was only after the effect and the feel of a contemporary r&b plus foraying into mild classical, which after all is not proprietary technology of those abovementioned. A good song, i thought it was something new in tamil.. highly addictive. 9/10
4. Vaan nila - this hasnt caught up with me yet and i, as of now, cant understand why others are so excited..It sure sounds good alright with pianos and sax all over but doesnt sound great. maybe i should get my CD. But a surprising start.. i was expecting a slow song with the melodious start.. then it twists into a rnr.. which i thought is cool. also in this quality cant make out lyrics. so, as of now only 7/10.
6. O Kaadhale - I am not really fond of mano except in certain songs and this song doesnt seem to be one. SPB would have done a better job in my opinions.. The background has been cleverly done which imparts a uyire feel but just stops short. dont like it as of now... 7/10 . I think mano overdoes it when he sings iyakkum kalaignan etc.. it sounds all the more worse at this 48kbps.
7. Bailamore - The song is nice.. but how did this buffoon get to sing.. he sounds like innumerable new breed of tamil singers who happen to know tamil as their, i dont know, 35th language or something..otherwise, cool techno, robot beats and sounds..7.5/10
A very satisfying album definitely has made me forget album, 5 star(which has only one great song. engirunthu.. laysa laysa was a washout even before KV) for the past 24 hours.. and run, well it was never in my great list but was one of those transient albums. Again, I am sure these songs will grow on me and will like all songs in a few more listenings. Kadhal Virus is very addictive and a worthy successor to a great Baba(which still competes for the best of 2002 in my opinion) cant choose which. KM, baba or KV? all 3 r different and all sound good.. What the hell?????..
(*digressing* discovered a good song in en mana vaanil! its called muthu muthu.. a very good one. check it out.)

hello juan pablo ,
If three of ur ratings shows below 8 ,then how come it is the best album of the year ..U have the given the corrct rating ....but wrong conclusion ..But is mucvh better than BABA and definetly has some standards of AR Rehman ..STill i feel ALBUM is a very close competitior to KV ,but since AR Rehman is more popular this album will sell more ...

Here goes my KV review.
1. Ye Ye Enna Aachu Unakku - A song in the mould of 'We want power' from Ratchagan. Truly, it is a Christina type song, I am sure it will a chartbuster, very pop-ish.
2. Yenthan Vaanil - What a welcome return of SPB/ARR! I was one of guys who didn't like people in this forum complaining that ARR is not using SPB enough. Surely, I was wrong. The song is a soft song, but I don't hear the lyrics so clearly - SPB sings it in a dreamy fashion.
3. Vaan Nila - Very jazz-ish sax, piano, I liked this song as soon as I heard it. The melody itself reminds me of some IR song.
4. Sonnalum - Standard ARR trademark soft song. In the line of Kannamoochi Yenada (KK), Uyirum Neeye (Pavithra), Azhage Sugama (Parthale Paravasam) yet another Sahana! Frankly, I want ARR to do better when it comes to such songs.
5. O Kadhaale - Mano, why, why, why. Please ARR - this song cried for SPB, or may be Karthik or someone else - why Mano why? He does not even cough properly in the end :-) The 'Kadhaale' vocal harmony in the second interlude sounded neat - experts any counterpoints, WCM fundas going on here?
6. Bailamore - What the heck does that mean? Yet another song whose lyrics I have no idea about.
All IMHO.
