How was the movie?

Incidentally, every tamil magazine was praising KR for his BGM in Vanchinathan (while there were not to pleasant remarks on the actual songs in that movie)...but when I saw the movie, the title credits listed another guy as BGM composer! I think it was Ravindran, the long time associate of Shaji Kailash.
Lucky KR, gets away with good BGM he hasnt composed!

karthik: only the magazines seem to have praised the BGM. Everyone I know who watched the movie couldn't find a single nice word to say about the BGM.

DumDumDum has a very good BGM IMO.,
I liked the violin piece played when Madhavan's father talks to Jyothika like 'en maganai mayakkap paarkkaathee' or something similar. Excellent one., Overall, he has done a good job.,
Only sad thing is, My favourite Song 'Un pearaich chonnaalee' is wasted as a bit song in the background :-(

Even Vanchinathan bgm was very good, I remembered seeing a different name for the BGM (and not KR) and remembered this only when Vikatan had a positive comment on the BGM and credited it to KR.
Thinamani Kadhir (the sunday supplement of Thinamani) had a cover story recently about the proliferation of Malayalam film makers in tamil and a passing note on Shaji Kailash and his 'aasthana' bgm composer!

This review claims KR has come of age after his marriage:-) There's a statement that if any viewer is not enquiring about the MD, then he has problem with his ears:-))

It is not that great. He needs to put in more variety. The scales and the beats are old. Reminds of his father appearing with a jeans and tshirt. It could have been better.

hi all friends,
please tell me the opinion about " dum dum dum ". Is it a good movie ? how is the BGM ? Any one think that it will be " hit movie " or make something in box office ?

Rahul;
I hope you agree that betterness is partly decided by the success of the album among public..On that aspect D^3 is certainly better..
It is good commercial hit..It might go to the top in many top 10 lists..Worty effort by KR..

Fliflo,
"betterness is partly decided by the success of the album among public"
On the flip side,
Does that mean "betterness" of an album is less if it is not popular among public?

on: Tue Apr 17 12:37:30 EDT 2001
Trend! Don't be in a hurry man..read my sentence little more watchfully..a small word "partly" means "not completely"..a good album can be a failure because of other "parts"

Thanks Srk....

Fliflo,
I didn't use "completely" anywhere.OK let me rephrase
Does that mean "betterness" of an album is reduced partly if it is not popular among public?
- From: Fliflo (@ 146.186.113.254)
on: Tue Apr 17 16:13:47 EDT 2001
Well, it goes this way.
However good the album is, it may fail to make a great impact in the public if other parts do not match. However, it still makes a sizeable wave.
Eg; Valli, Moghamul, Avatharam..etc..etc..
(or)
However bad the album is, it still may make an impact even if other parts are good. If other parts are not good and the album by itself also not so impressive, probably it's gone with the Wind.
Eg: Many, many movies..
Does this make any sense?:-)))

Fliflo,
I still don't understand exactly the context in which you used the word "betterness".
If you can, try to give me a yes/no answer to the question:
Does the "betterness" of an album increase/reduce partly if it is popular/not popular among public?
- From: Fliflo (@ 146.186.113.254)
on: Tue Apr 17 17:13:03 EDT 2001
Let me re-direct this arrow towards, "Rahul" who wrote this could have been better and for which I answered "the betterness..." The word "better" in his question reflects which better? Is it music, sales or what? The following "betterness" reflect the same, FYI..Trend, is your thirsty quenched atleast by now???:-)

I saw the movie in the theater. During the song sequences I could see audiences leaving the hall restlessly. The only song appreciated by the audience is "Athiri Puthiri..". There was a pathos song. It was really paining to listen. It didn't match with the situation. The movie is also not good. It is just an average movie. The positive thing in the movie is the "Thekathith Thamiz".
Someone told that the songs will be in no1 position. Yes. Possibilities are there. There are no other movies better than this.
The song "Ragasiyamai" is good. But I felt like hearing IR song.

G.Ragavan - did u really see the movie ?
well, i just came back from NAZ now.... i liked the movie.... the songs, especially lyrics suited the situations very well..... the BGM was good, and the direction was really really good.... its worth the money.....

and the only song when some of them (well, there were really *some* of them only in the theatre :-)) went out was for the "krishna krishna".....
and as some one said it was sad to see "Un Peerai Sonaale" being used as a BG song..... and also the Male voice part of the song was missing ("kaai chudum endralum, theeai thoodum pillai pool, unnaiyee naanum parkeeraeen").....

Sabesan,
Antha pulambal party Naanthaan :-) I missed unni's part of the song totally :-(
I agree with you about the movie, It is a good movie, All Songs are picturised well (Compare this with 'Minnalee', Oh God, I don't even want to think What that director did to 'Vaseegara')., Except 'Desingu Raja', All other songs fit well with the movie., Good BGM., Good story & dialogues (maNi Rathnam/ R. Selvaraj/ Azagam perumaaL)., This movie is really Worth the money.

Sabesan. I saw the movie. Don't doubt. Songs wise this is another minnale.
Naga, Good knot was selected and the screenplay really missed the knot. But I really enjoyed the comedy sequences. At one scene Mathavan pushes Chinni Jeyanth. Chinni immitates Naayakan Velu Nayakar. Aandava......really funny. Same way Vivek hits in the pillar, it goes on.
Sundar.C suits for this type of stories.

Guys,
It is an excellent movie by AlagarPerumal. Jothika simply steels the show. Good screenplay. The major asset of the movie is camera and music. Splendid effort from the Juniors (Jr.PC Sriram, Jr. Masetro). Worth watching movie.
Ragavan, I also watched the movie in the theatre. No body moved out of the theatre as you said. May be it may happen in your 'dream theatre'.

the song krishna krishna should not have appeared at all..it had the same feel of september madham from alaipayuthe.. the presence of madhavan ad similar kind of lyrics only added to the feeling ! and the song un perai chonnale reminded one of en veettu thotathil poovellam kettupar from gentleman ..
