I would like to get the list of Tamil Films for which Salil Chowdhury has scored the music.His most
memorable films in other language films are also welcome.

  Chemmeen was probably one of his greatest efforts. He scored the music for Azhiyada Kolangal too.

  Salilda scored the music for the Malayalam film "Madanolsavam" (*ing Kamalahasan, Zarina Wahab, Adoor Basi, etc.). The movie has a haunting melody "Maada Praave Vaa" that keeps ringing in your mind after you've heard it.

  Vannakkam. You have stepped on my second most favorite subject. Currently, there are two exmplary creations of God whom I worship as Gods themselves. The second one is Salilda. The first one, I hardly need tell.
  
  Salil is according to me, the Universe's music's greatest melody maker. Almost 99.99% of Salilda's songs are perfect and hits. I have collected his Bengali CD's, where most of his songs originated and they are folk of East India. I understand, he spent most of his childhood in the forests of Assam.
  
  Salilda's Tamil Hits: Dhoorathu Idi Muzhakkam
  Azhiyatha Kolangal and Paruva Mazhai (remake of Madanotsavam). He transcribed almost all his Bengali folk songs for Malayalam films. The orchestration and interludes (and as someone remarked the steel sounding tabla rhythms) only next to the Raja, has Salil achieved perfection and finesse.
  
  I have collected almost all his entire Malayalam works. All the songs are each unique and impossible.
  
  Perhaps, the most famous song that got me to love music in the first place was: The movie: SWAPNAM: Maane, Maane Villi Kelkku (The starting is similar to Raja's Ponmane in Oru Kadhiyin Dairy)

  One of the best CD combination's available is: Salilda's 4 movies in one: Chemmeen, Raagam, Nellu and one more I can't remember.
  
  I will give the other names soon enough.
  
  I would encourage everyone in TFM to listen to Salil Chowdhury's compositions to appreciate the beauty of his rare melody and you will agree according to me: the Trinity of Modern Indian Film Music is: The Raja, MSV and Salilda
  
  I did meet this great man just two weeks before his demise.

  Nithin remake of 'madhanolsavam'is 'mazhai megam' and not paruva mazhai.We use to kindaladuchify the title 'mazhai may com'by saying 'nmazhai may not com'is the opposite of it and also its the only Zarinas tamil film we have. This is the film that started 'blood cancer'culture in iNdian films.

  I suggest you create a page in honour of Salilda, and provide a collection of his songs (Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Hindi, etc.). That would provide an opportunity for his admirers all over the world to enjoy his melodies, and the others to get to know what a gifted composer he was. What says you ? :)

  According to Raju Bharathan's book on Lata Mangeshkar,Raja worked as a guitarist for Salil.

  i am not so convinced about salil chowdhury's being a part of TFM Trinity (if ever there is one) i feel that MDs like KV Mahadevan, G Ramanathan, V Kumar and ARR (last but not the least) have made much more lasting contribution to tfm.

  The parent song is: Na Jeeya Naage Na (I don't know what that means) by Lata Mangeshkar and in the superhit Amitabh/Rajesh Khanna starrer of 1974 movie ANAND. All the four songs in the movie are all time classics.
  
  About Salil being in TFM Trinity, I did not mean that. I meant that the TFM of Indian Film music are the three: IR, Salil and MSV.
  
  I am only making this claim, after hearing almost all the music composers of India, almost all their songs. I also feel confident having listened to Spanish, Western classical and pop that the style and from of music from the three Indian composers are unique and so profound
  
  I would be glad to be challenged so that I can get to know what I have missed.

  Raju Bharathan who used to write about mainly hindi film music and criket in Illustrated weekly has written a book called -Lata Mangeshkar -A Biography.He has devoted an entire chapter to Salilda and S.D Burman.The reference to Raja comes in that chapter.If you are into Hindi music also like me,you should get that book.It is an interesting,anecdotal and gossipy book.
