This 'so-called' film critic from REDIFF.COM says 'ABHAY' (Hindi Version of ALAVANDHAAN' is a crap movie. The link is given below...
http://www.rediff.com/entertai/2001/nov/13abhay.htm
How crucial was 'music' a crucial factor for a film like ALAVANDHAAN?

Watched the movie - looks very artificial - I think Kamal has tried to copy some scenes from Silence of the lambs (Dr.Hannibal)..... He fails miserably - The romance scenes are totally unnecessary - here he tries to ape Basic instinct- I guess. The film keeps u irritating thru out and the problem with it is that u cant sit patiently watching the movie - since it keeps draggingggggg - Sigappu Rojakkal was 100 times better. The songs are crappy- background looks OK.

Eventhough there has been general resentment from kamal fans and bad reviews about this movie, theathres in chennai playing this movie is still drawing crowds. Not sure how it is faring in B and C circles.

WHYNOT...ahh..oh dear...oh dear....do i see the AQUARIAN turning green with envy, watching me display ingenius calibre in "editing"? ;-) Catch you later my friend, i have some serious talking to do ;-) with this excellent reviewer/critic called VEM....
------------------------------------------------
dear VEM, what the heck yaar...do you know what PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA means (atleast the definition of the disorder). Go read what a PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA behaves like, then you MIGHT (yes, a possibility) understand the film ALAVANDHAAN better, and you MIGHT inderstand to what extent KAMAL has researched for the effective & gripping potrayal of NANDHU...
You have given the following opinion.....
:-)i shudder to consider these as opinions though...IMHO
1)>>>..Watched the movie - looks very artificial...<<< - Nanba, tell something concretely, what the hell does this sentence supposed to mean?
2)>>>>...I think Kamal has tried to copy some scenes from Silence of the lambs (Dr.Hannibal). He fails miserably ..<<<< - This only shows you neither understood HANNIBAL nor did you undertstand ALAVANDHAAN...Did You, Nanba?
3)>>>...The romance scenes are totally unnecessary - here he tries to ape Basic instinct-I guess...<<< That was really vague you dumbo. Where on earth does BASIC INSTINCT get any resemblence in ALAVANDHAAN...pray tell me...did they show a different version in your town?
4)>>>...The film keeps u irritating thru out and the problem with it is that u cant sit patiently watching the movie - since it keeps draggingggggg..<<<< - That is because your head is simply not capable enough to register all the minute details that KAMAL plugs in every other moment throughout the movie. For instance, did u know that "positive" PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENICS think & believe that they are "SUPERMAN" variety. This is why there is a small dialogue when VIJAY (Commando Kamal) & RAVEENA meet NANDHU...If u had watched carefully, NANDHU says,"Vallavanukku Pullum AAyutham"
5)<<...Sigappu Rojakkal was 100 times better. The songs are crappy- background looks OK...>>> There you go again...first it was BASIC INSTINCT and now SIGAPPU ROJAKKAL yeah? Have your head examined Nanba, these are totally different storylines. Sigappu rojakkal kamal was a psychopath killer, whereas ALAVANDHAAN is a pathetic ill treated adolescent child who develops PARANOID SCHIZOPHRENIA...And regarding the songs, SHANKAR-ESAAN-LOY have done a fitting justice to the plot of the film. In fact SHANKAR MAHADEVAN in an interview said," it is really asking too much to plug in songs into an action packed movie..."
dear VEM, think twice before reviewing someone's work...If you have further doubts, feel free to talk to me...

yes vem, feel free to ask neutral fan.
He knows it all. And if you run out of ideas to make personal attacks and call names, ask neutral fan. His capricornian arrogance has a huge vocabulary instore, believe me.

when someone can talk rubbish about some personality without any basis, i deem it fit that they should get re-paid with their own currency...WHYNOT, u wud know this better than anyone else does....after all, we have been into this art of war quite a long long time now...
<<..His capricornian arrogance has a huge vocabulary instore, believe me...>> Thanks for that compliment dearest & loveable WHYNOT...(atleast interactions with me wud help your WORDPOWER, good for you guys)...May i once again qoute LINDA GOODMAN here (oops, this is getting to be a habit)....
"A capricorn personality behaves as if he knows everything. Fact is, he does." Some good words to say on the MEAN & GRUMPY aint't it dearest & loveable? Capri will win over even an Aries female. AQUARIANS ain't much of trouble, are they?

>>when someone can talk rubbish about some personality without any basis, i deem it fit that they should get re-paid with their own currency...<<
neutral fan, vem was just sharing his personal opinions on what he thought of the movie. When he mentioned kamal (only in 1 sentence), he added 'I think'. He is entitled to his opinions, ok. Either way, it had nothing to do with u. So why do u need to 'repay' anything?
Maybe u should stop taking criticism on kamal and IR or whoever else so personally.
May I quote ;-) Voiltaire:
"I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
>>he knows everything. Fact is, he does.<<
No, u don't. To start off with, I know more about you than you know about me. ;-)
>>Capri will win over even an Aries female<<
ahem..may I know what our capricornian highness means by 'win over'????

>>...When he mentioned kamal (only in 1 sentence), he added 'I think'. He is entitled to his opinions, ok..<< Yes dearest & loveable WHYNOT, but he cannot end the statement with some rubbish like "he fails miserably"...when he just "thinks" that KAMAL has "tried" to copy, why end the sentence with something as spitefull as "he fails miserably"?? Opinions do not merit a place if there is not a valid logical locus standi. Do they :-)
<<...Either way, it had nothing to do with u. So why do u need to 'repay' anything?...>> God bless me, i had always thought this was a discussion forum. Loveable Ynot, you seem to consider this as "PERSONAL OPINIONS FORUM, WHATSOEVER"...
<<...Maybe u should stop taking criticism on kamal and IR or whoever else so personally...>> ha ha ha..my friend, when u can scream for blood when some stupid anti ARR comments are posted, why can't your poor CAPRICORN friend do so? When people defy logic and post unwarranted personal opinions without the backing of any analytical reasons, i will be there dearest (as u r found wherever ARR is illogically cornered)..
<<...No, u don't. To start off with, I know more about you than you know about me. ;-) ..>>> Well, to be frank, after that spooky guess from you on my qualification, i too have that nagging doubt
:-)
<<...ahem..may I know what our capricornian highness means by 'win over'????..>>
:-)Hey, do not read between lines dearest & loveable WHYNOT...Capri goats never flirt during office hours..definetly not on a Monday. Not sure about AQUARIANS though....
:-)Anyways, "WIN OVER" just implied ...well...forget it ;-)

>>when u can scream for blood<<
I have done that before, but still do not cross the line to name-calling and mud-slinging. If i did, I truly repent my outbirst rather than think of it as my birthright to do so, unlike some goats, I mean.. people.
May I quote astrologycom.com on Capricornians:
"You hold grudges and will take revenge for perceived slights."
Ah, that may explain it all.
>>you seem to consider this as "PERSONAL OPINIONS FORUM<<
But alas, it is, isn't it?
>>i too have that nagging doubt<<
Nice to see the capricornian almighty lose his bearings now and then..
;-))
>>Not sure about AQUARIANS though....<<
