Hi guys,
I am going to india soon.If you want to show your disapproval against ARR's plagiarism please do reply to this new thread which I will eventually print and give it to ARR personally so that he realises that people are not dumb and listen to his fancy copying of music from abroad and boast himself as a musician.
Even his latest much talked "Vande matram" has one songs which has direct lift of a tune from Madonna's latest "FROZEN".
I don't know how he thinks that he can get away with these fancy copying.I think it is time for us to show him that we are not dumb.

What a wonderfully refreshing new topic!

Sathiya Keerthi,
Refreshing indeed!! ARR sure would love to hear which part of his songs "only you"/"musafir" from "Vande Mataram" (Nov '97) that Madonna copied in her "Frozen" from "Ray of Light" (Mar-Apr '98).

Balaji ! may be you should get your chronology of events right. Ray of light wasn't out until a good 6-7 months after the release of Vande Mataram.
So could it be alleged that Madonna was 'inspired' by ARR?

Balaji Sir,
What you are scheming to do is a rather ambitious plot. I mean, tell me who is not going to back you?
I am myself geared up in the 8th (sa, ri, ga, ma, pa, da, ni, sa, arr) and ready to go full throat, er.. throttle, to give Mr. Isai Thendral a piece of my mind. Come to think of it, I feel that piece will do him good, since I, for one, am able to these days compose music in my sleep, which is what ARRR should do, let the tunes come from there and not from some FM radio station or imported CD.
I think nothing can be done with your plan. If ARR does not do what he does, we will not have ARR. Right now, Indian film music is open space like the great Sahara Desert.
The least we can do is encourage this talented Mr. Xerox machine to copy from within his own memory or upgrade his memory by going back to school into some masters program for some time and return with some original thesis like what Ms. Anuradha Sriram produced.
I am not recommending that ARR do a thesis at the Ph.D. level if you see the point I am making, because that will generate pop albums like what Ms. Sriram eventually threw up.
BALAJI, I am just kidding, anything about ARR is really fun topic. Thank you.
(Don't take Indian film music anymore seriously the way we all used to. Everything has a beginning, a peak and an slope.)

To the various "R. Balajis" of this forum:
My friend, Aug '97 comes before March '98. Vande Mataram was released in August '97 and Ray of Light was relesed in March '98.
I guess you are right, probably ARR does have a "Time Machine"(:!!!!!!!!!

Udhaya:
Actually, if you carefully notice this forum,
there is so much advise that we, the forum
participants, give to MDs. A recent example
is someone advising that IR should go on a
road-trip to promote his music. Very soon you
will see someone saying something like: ARR
should wear Michael Jackson type dress/make-up
and dance in stages. Of course, the typical
advises are of a more serious type such as:
For once Deva should give original tunes;
IR should hereafter do only non-filmy albums;
IR should modify his style to suit the recent
changes etc. The disappointing(?) thing about
all these advises is that do the advisers really
make any effort to pass-on the advises to the
respective advisees (MDs)? I haven't seen a single
attempt till now, during this one year! ellaam
veththu pEchchu. appadi irukkum vELaiyil, what stuck
me to be most refreshing was that here is Mr.Balaji
who is all fired-up to actually meet ARR and give
him some advise. I really hope that he does that and
reports the happenings here. Perhaps, after seeing that,
others will also get fired-up to convey their
advises to their respective advisees.
BTW, is there even a single instance in TFM where
fans wrote to an MD giving suggestions for change
in style and the MD followed it?

I think a person who started this thread needs some good knowledge of music...
VM was released before a year then FROZEN.
I think Madonna lifted the tune from VM....
Pl. be sure before you talk some junk.. its not only for you but for all, since i have seen this type of errors in this site very offen. when ever people talk about ARR...

Hi ,
VM is more than 1.5 years old. AR started to record this album long time ago. (I would say the songs in VM are 2 years old)
When Musicians use the same electronic gadgets - they seem to get the same type of Idea - a co-incidence.
(or it can be Maddona copied from AR!....)
Releasing a album for 50th year indenpendence of his country AR would not simply lift the score..
If you hear raja's score he plays around lot of Bach type of note progression.
This does not means Raja has lifted from Bach ..
he uses the same note progression or chord progression..
I can also say - in Ullasam Karthick Raja lifted from Enigma - chanting type of sounds in Konjum Manjal song.
Who spoke about it to him!,
Dont accuse AR just because you know few western score...he has stuff...
Also You cannot meet him India...
(Unless you are his wife...)
I tried my best to meet him I failed.

It is really disappointing that people choose to write things with out actually checking if it is authentic or not. I hope they realise the damage they are doing by providing such incorrect information. I see this happening more in the case of ARR... I hope guys act a bit more responsibly

Just curious: Why is there so much pent-up bile when it comes to ARR? I mean, there are other MDs that also get "inspired"! I am a huge fan of IR's earlier work, but there are times I have listened to ARR songs and enjoyed them too(e.g. the much-maligned abaswaram porion of Sonia Sonia)... I guess that just makes me a dumb Tamilian!!

Mr Balaji,
best of luck on your endeavour. what do you want to prove to ARR . he is a copycat or the other fact (T's are D's). you should know one thing, by bringing the best out from other regions (adopting!), you should appreciate any good as long as they are good. I think ARR is only letting T's the otherside of the the world by doing so. If we can accept it (as long as they are melodious!) , you only prove the second point.
That is T's are D's . ( kundu chattiyile kudhirai oattalama!)

Hi Sri, and others
Sorry, I missed the word 'not' (OOPS!,slip of my fingers) as I was saying ' If we canNOT accept this ...') So I apologize for this. Let me repost correctly to the purpose of all critics!

So instead of KCKO'ing we (T's ) should accept any foreign good(s) (sarakku) as long are they are pleasing! Whether it is ARR or IR or Deva or MSV or others!

Are you alleging that ARR built a time machine? If not, then please explain how March 1998 ("Frozen") came before November 1997 ("Vande Mataram")?
I guess we're not all as smart as you who thinks that time progresses backwards and not forwards

"Frozen" sounds more Indian than "Only You" sounds American!

I think Balaji is pointing
out just ARR's work, no
comparison between Ilaiyaraaja's
and ARR's work. So why do you
bring IR's work to this thread?
