Why is sadhana the most sought after female singer in TFM? She has become a household singer in Raja and his sons albums. Almost every album of IR,KR and YSR has atleast one song by her.
ARR has avoided her in his past 3 albums(KM,baba and KV) and even when he used her voice, he gave only one song in an album.
Looks like IR and co are infatuated with her voice.
Thangarbachan said in his interview that all the technicians in his next 'solla marandha kathai' are tamilians. I read in dinamalar SS has sung 2 songs in this film. IS she a 'tamil' singer now?

She is popular because hse is an amazing singer.
Maybe ARR does not have the snse to see that.

Is that the same sadna sargam so many of you were criticising for her pronunciation, and accusing ARR of ruining TFM when he started using her from minsara kanavu onwards?!? now, now, one word comes to my mind... hypocritical...

S. Reddy u've got a point there!
It was Rahman who gave her the big break, made her popular in TFM. But then it was "dumb pronunciation, ARR's even dumber to give chances only Hindi ppl" or "spoiling TFM". Now it's "ARR doesnt have the sense to see her talent"!!!!!
excuse me!
and u came up w/ the perfect word too. Hypocrisy it is!

SADHANA SARGAM IS THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER FOR HER SWEET VOICE. OTHERWISE, HOW WOULD A MEDIOCRE SONG LIKE " SENEGITHANE ... SENEGITHANE ... " WOULD HAVE BECOME A HIT?
UNDER IR, THANK GOD , SHE IS SINGING GOOD COMPOSITIONS.

Hi,
I am kinda new , but I guess we must keep TFM as it has been, open to all. Of course singers singing in their non-native language have to polish their pronounciations. In the past, most of our singers were telugu, who intially stumbled a lot (including PBS,Balu, mano,janaki...).I guess Sadhana's got a great voice, as for IR's in fatuation with sweet voices , remember Mithali from Dalapathi?

Anand,
yes, Mithali was a real sweet voice. but how many songs did she sing? SS is in almost every new album of IR. IMO she doesn't have an impressive voice. it looks as if she is being favoured a bit more. In his heydays when IR was releasing about 4 albums a month, this kind of favour would have gone unnoticed.

Simple answer to this Question.
She was always a good singer..however ever since she started singing for AR Rahman..she has improved in leaps and bounds..same can be said for Alka Yagnik.

ARR once said in a concert, Sadhna has the sweetest voice in India... but as we know he is on his own when it comes to selecting singers... Even Sujatha is his favourite singer but he has made albums without using her at all... He tried out Reena bharadhwaj instead of SS in Baba.... May be he wants variety, or he doesnt want SS to get branded under his music...but she is definitely better than the other hindi singers who have sung in tamil.... and has a long way to go...

>>> HOW WOULD A MEDIOCRE SONG LIKE " SENEGITHANE ... SENEGITHANE ... " WOULD HAVE BECOME A HIT? >>>
pls define mediocre....... The song would have been a hit if any leading TFM singer would have sung that song.... I dont think there was any value addition to the song becos of Sadhna singing it....

Karan,
I guess Alka Yagnik did not become famous coz of ARR. she is one of the few singers who is versatile in HFM (this is my opinion).
My question is there nobody in Tamil who can sing, when there is a lot of talent spread all over. This is just an curious thing to notice, i watch this SaReGaMaPa in Zee, but my gut feeling is Sapthaswarangal was a much better program and a very hard one than SaReGaMaPa. Surprisingly there were lot of other state singers like Telugu's and kannadigas who won lot of weeks in this program. I am not against SS, but still i dont accept she is gr8 addition for TFM, but a good singer.

For ur kind info,(Zee) SaReGaMaPa is a follow up on SaReGaMa. Sapthaswarangal prog. concept like most other tamil programs was a copy of this zee program and started about a year after SaReGaMa. SaReGaMa and another similar Mallu program were considered (and voted)the best in their category. Sapthaswarangal was stinking for about a year after it started in terms of the quality of people who appeared. SaRaGaMa hit the top gear (in quality) within a month of starting up. The selection critiria in that program is considered to be the best and it shows even in the first round pariticipants.

I totally agree with ST. Sapswngl. is a very mediocre program.Whereas the singers in SRGMP are far far good than Spwngl.
Selection procedure in Spwngl is no good.Guys pulling strings can get into it easily.

Sadhana Sargam croons the melody of love & life on etc
etc, India’s best known music channel, presents Sadhana Sargam as the Pop Ki Aandhi for the second half of February.
Pop Ki Aandhi on etc is specially designed generic that throws light on a singing star, who has just come out with his/her latest album. Every fortnight etc introduces one musician as Pop Ki Aandhi to discover the real person hidden behind artiste.
Sadhana will appear on etc on Wednesday, February 27 at 8.00 p.m. with repeat on Saturday March 2 at 8.00pm.
Sadhana, a simple and gentle person, happens to one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood. Acting high and mighty may be the rule-of-the-game in Indian Film Industry, but Sadhana Sargam, certainly doesn’t believe that. “I am a musician and I don’t think carrying an attitude would help my music,” explains Sadhana. And, probably, it’s her “simple middle-class background” that inspires such thoughts.
A disciple of eminent classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, Sadhana had got her first lesson of music from her mother. “As a child I told my mother that I want to learn Aaa aaa music, and what I meant was classical music,” she fondly remembers. Born as Sadhana Ghanekar, she becomes Sadhana Sargam with the beginning of her playback career. And the present generation of singers may have problem in giving due credit to seniors but Sadhana feels no hesitation in admitting that it’s the influence of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle that has made her into a better singer.
Of late, Sadhana has come out with her new album “Oh My Love”, which is an eight-track collection of love songs. “There are various kinds of songs in the album – peppy love songs, piano oriented soft romantic songs and songs which are influenced by Rajasthani and Punjabi folk music,” she informs. So what love means to her? “Love is everything. Love is life and life is an echo, what you do it returns to you,” she answers. And what makes her happy? “When people listen to my songs and say that they like it,” says the singer. No wonder, she is called the most humble singer of her generation.

i aceept that sadhana sargam has a very sweet and seducing voice.
at the same time she possess a very worst tamil pronouncation and slang.
she is in the field since 8 years...........atleast she should have utilised some 15 days to learn tamil pronouncation.
s.janaki,p.susheela...are the 2 great nightingales of south india.they had sung in almost all indian languages and in particular janakiamma prolongs to be the isaiarasi of southindia till this moment.though she had limited her songs...each and every song she is singing now are becoming very big hits .both of them learnt tamil from seperate tamil teachers.janakiamma learnt tamil from a tamil teacher janaki who resided nearer to her house for about 6 months.this made her so lingual in tamil and as the unbeatable melody queen till now.
so sadhana too can do like this and can perform much better than now.

Sadhana Sargam is blessed with a very sweet voice, no doubt. I love many of her Hindi songs...favourite being Kuch Mere Dil ne Kaha (Tere Mere Sapne)I used to listen to that song atleast 10 times everyday for her sweet voice.
But just voice is not enough to sing in a language. You need perfection in DICTION. Or atleast something close to that. There is no pride in saying that a singer has sung in all 24 languages. Real justice is done to the song, only when the words in a language are pronounced the way they are supposed to be. Sargam unfortunately fails to do that justice to her Tamil songs. Being an ardent fan of her Hindi songs, I'm sad to say this.
Maybe people who don't listen to the words can enjoy her Tamil songs because of her mellifluous voice, but those like us who listen to the "complete song" it is like watching a very skilled TAILOR work in a BUTCHER shop. Whatever skill may be, it is not fit for Tamil language. Just as I say this, I'd like to mention I was shocked off my underwear to learn she won National award for Paattu Cholli (Azhagi). Man, when I first heard that song, I was mesmerised by the soothing melody, but someone said film Azhagi, and I was like, "What , this is a Tamil song????" Okay, I;m exaggerating, but still, Chitra could have done a classic job out of that song.
I pray that wonderful singers like Sadhana Sargam, Udit N.(another crying shame), Sukhwinder S. remain in Hindi field and give us many more gems. Please don't rape a language if you don't know it properly.
Now the real question in this forum is WHY is she so popular?? It baffles me totally. Have people totally stopped bothering about such a thing as LYRICS??? Do MDs even KNOW what lyrics are being written for their songs, or is it done as a routine exercise? I don't know how a true song lover can enjoy a song completely with such bad pronunciation. And there are umpteen excellent singers here itself - Chitra, Sujatha, Harini Anuradha Sriram.....
Can someone provide an insight. I'm flummoxed.
