AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  The 'oh oh oh ...' part at the end of Secrets of Success song sounds like the Aslam Mustafa number 'Ho Gayi Hai Mohabbat...'.
  
  And the 'Ale Ale...' number reminds me of some old TFM song. The stanzas somehow remind me of Nayagan's 'Anthi Mazhai Megam...' . Does anyone else felt the same way ?
  
  But, without doubt ...'Girlfriend' is my pick of the album. Karthik has sung this one fabulously.
  
  The good thing about him is he sounds as sophisticated as you want to be in a western number like this and at the same time sing Tamil in such a way without having an artificial accent (which many people would have singing western tunes) which keeps the lyrics intact.

  I found this page recently and was hoping to see what people feel about the music from boys. But it seems to me that this page has nothing to do with music. It's just a few honest reviews in the middle of a lot of mindless gibbering of imbeciles who are hell bent on saying unkind things about Rahman. To these people - nobody is saying you have to like Rahman's music and nobody is saying that the music you like is bad music. If you never liked any of Rahman's music, you have no business in this page. Rahman is a humble man with a good heart who works hard to please his fans. It is extremely unfair to abuse him just because you like someone else's music.

  I already summed up previously that the Boys album is juz a rehash. So many ppl are now reporting that each song is so familiar and they have heard it somewhere.
  
  All those mindless ppl saying the album is superb or great are only trying to create hype. These same ppl previoulsy said Parasuram was superb. But these morons now come back and say things like "....Parasuram was a disappointment but this album is great!" just to create hype.
  
  It is sad but it has been like that since day 1.

  The "chewing gum akkadhaey" chant is EXTREMELY gooooood !! Just want to kiss Vasu as she is singing this song ;) But it is repeated only two times in the whole sing - disappointing.
  
  Also I very much liked the "muganaga natpadhu natpalla" line. PUNCH !
  
  In "Sari ga maey" - there is some backstreet boys sections as well - "NEVER NEVER GIVE IT UP" piece.
  
  Whatever one says, I am hearing the album for the 10th time in the day.
