MS, I have to disagree with you. IR is still giving even better music than before, not like in the Radio ceylon days, of course, but really even more sophisticated tunes. You hear Ponnu Veettukkarana songs: Annan Enna, Thambi Yenna and Illaya Nilave (these I give the highest ratings) The other songs in the album are also really very very good songs.
Now, go to Manam Virumbuthey Unnai, anyday better than any Rahman album. Take Anthapuram (telugu) is also I would say the songs have outdated every album of any other composer (including IRs own, I am afraid. Rahman's Kaadhalar Dhinam pales in comparison to Anthapuram songs' character and melody. Except for Nilave Mugam Kkattu, Rajasthan, Poonthottam, I would say all of IR's post Kadhulukku Mariyadai 1997, 1998 and 1999 are way advanced of listeners' grasp of intelligent music. Listeners are right now drowned by the random and erratic output of Deva, ARR and other over energetic players. My fascination with IR' all kinds of songs are now increasing, like I am hearing even his flop songs that somehow reflect a personality of its own that I did not notice before.
IR's come back, big time, no doubt ANTHAPURAM and earlier YatraMozhi stand testimony to the even more magic that will soon begin to captivate the world. Just wait and see. The fact that I am back listening to IR after a long, long time is anothe proof of what is in store for the music lover who is searching for the best in music.

Dear Friends
As an ardent fan of Ilayaraaja, I feel the strong need to answer this query posed by my friend. So many sites are bringing out the Carnatic content in IR's music and even the rare raagaas IR has used to compose some of his songs (I believe this). But my friend is sceptical as to if IR really is knowledgeable in-depth in Carnatic Music to choose a given raagaa for his song. He feels that IR just brings out a song out of inspiration but that happens to fall into one of the raagaa category. I just do not have any real expertise in Carnatic music to answer this query. Will someone help? But, my personal opinion is that IR is indeed a well informed musician.
Thanx

Dear Rajan k. paranji,
Tell your good friend that the great doyen of Carnatic Classical music , Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and the music critic Mr.Subbudu and many others have openly acknowledged and praised and showered accolades on IR's in-depth knowledge of Carnatic Classical Music !!

Hi Balaji,
Could you please listen to the Abhinandana, Swathimutyam and Nirnayam
songs and comment on the quality of the recording. I did it from a
friend's cassette and have to return it soon. If the quality is good, I
need not do any rerecording. Else I will do the recording once agin.
Thats why. Can you check it out soon.
I have a multimedia system , with good sound equipment, so even poor
recording comes out as good recording!!!
Please help me.

Shibu,
You can use Save As feature in CoolEdit to save wav files as mp3.
RB,
Great effort man! You have really put in a lot of work to make it easy for all to breeze through your collection.

Hey RB
Can you put up
'padaasa chuthi chuthi pOdaduma' from 'poove poo choodava'
BTW RB
I checked out your site yesterday. Really nice format, but still, I suppose you are still working on it.

Vels:
I already have Chinna Chinna Vannakkuyil.
BTW, I strongly appreciate your feeling that the efforts for one stop database for links to all songs should be continued. As you said it would not alone help the listeners, but also will avoid duplication. I myself have faced this problem badly! I have few songs at my site duplicating the wonderful efforts of Rex. Even though I am a regular visitor of Rex's site, I just missed to notice :-(
What can we do for this?

Hi,
Does anyone have 'Riksha Mama' songs, esp 'Vaigai Nadhiyoram' (I happened to listen a piece of it by IR at Shibu's site) and the songs from another Satyaraj movie (which film?), which had excellent songs like 'Paadha Kolusu Paattu Paadi Varum Paadi Varum', 'Kuthalak Kuyile', 'Amman Koyil Vaasalile Vaasalile', etc.
Thanks,
Murali

Can anyone tell me where I can find the song "Pattale Buddhi Sonnar.." by IR. A great song. The second interlude in Guitar is just mesmerising...
