There had been a forefather of Deva called Veda who started this `import' business much before. IMO, even these two fellows are more tolerable (Deva's singing ofcourse is one of the worst ever, intolerable things to happen) than the hopeless, mediocre, copy/repeat/recycle fellow called SAR:-(
The other worst things to happen are the killing of pronunciation deliberately introduced by ARR and the SJ mukkals pioneered by IR:-((

Siva,
Listen to NETHU RATHIRY YAMMA..... and the orgasmic sounds produced by Janaki at the end and you'll know.
And SJ's fans call it her versatility. Give me her Johny songs any day.
Apart from the ones you've mentioned, I should add SIRPI. For being Unoriginal to the core, and producing mediocre songs that get labelled as HITS.
Last but not the elast, the 'molaga vathal' producers who promote such talent (SAR and Sirpi), where as real good talent like Mahesh (Nammavar fame), V. S. Narasimhan and L. Vaidyanathan (7-vathu Manithan) go unrecognized.

Directors and producers who consider Deva, Sirpi and SAR as an MD ! #:-((
The crazy mad guy who has given the first chance to Deva, Sirpy and SAR ???

hey guys..... it seems that all of you are out to kill D,SAR,Sirpi...... and an endless list that can go on for ever!!. It is fair and agreeable that these so called "M"D are suceeding in the killing of Original TFM.... but we shouldn't take away that very little credit they sometimes deserve(it can even be just one song!!). It is a known fact and even proved by none other than themselves that they are deservedly listed in the HALL OF SHAME. But what worries me the most, at times is the irresponsible attitude exercised by pioneers like IR. No one can deny the contribution made by IR to TFM, however even people with these credentials do make unforgivable mistakes!!!
Then again..... no body's perfect...including IR.
Had IR preserved his originality, than trying to join the bandwagon in the race to make money.... then may be .... and just may be...... we wouldn't have been forced to digest the material from these loonies!!!!!!!!

1. pattukkOttai dying at a relatively young age.
2. IR's unfinished symphony casting a shadow.
3. copying of songs left right and centre by people like deva.
4. the degradation of the standard of lyrics, the reduction in the number of songs set to pre-written lyrics.

The worst thing ever happened to TFM is Udit Narayan singing in Tamil.

i would say that the advent of vijay as a hero, who turned out to be a big success, was the worst thing that has happened to TFM. his movies pioneered the trend of dirty, rotten lyrics combined with atrocious music that is everywhere, which has led to the deterioration of TFM as a whole.

cram.,
You cannot blame Vijay for that., I feel directors are the main reason for this happening, Whenever Vijay acted under his father's direction, we saw all these 'Not so good' lyrics and music., But on the other hand movies like 'Poove Unakkaaga'., 'Kaathalukku Mariyaathai' etc., had good lyrics and music - They had good directors who were not willing to compromise.

The worset thing ever happened to TFM is ignoring TMS and PS for one full decade . They definitely deserve occassional chances in present TFM. Although they are old their voice can be properly recorded with latest technique which is used for Lata Mangeshker.TNS

i think the best thing that happened to TFM was TMS's exit. his voice had become unbearable by the mid-70s, and mercifully, TR ensured his permanent exit with the apt song "naan oru raasiyilla raja".

i am not blaming vijay. he just happened to be there when it all happened, and most of it revolved around him. so the credit does go to him, even though it was not of his making.

let somebody organize a show calling all these copy cats to perform all their mediocre stuffs on stage and bomb the auditorium when these copy cats r performing....
this wud change the night mare which TFM industry is going thru now!!!!
People u missed out on two other persons in the list....

SR.,
Bharathyla 'Nallathoor veeNai' keettirukkeengaLaa ? If you call IR's voice lifeless, I am really interested in knowing what is life according to you., Also, Bhavadharini never became a big hit in TFM, so you can't say she spoiled the whole industry., Her singing was more like a 'kudisaith thozil' (However, I like her voice very much :-)

SR,
i agree with u NAGAS....
the way IR starts off in that song "valamai" its excellent....and will u call "aiya oodu" song in kadhalukku mariyadhai a lifeless song....
leave all that...."engey sellum" in sethu....is a song which makes anyone who listens to it feel good and take the person out to a different world altogether...
and with regards to bavatharani..she is good but her voice is 2 high pitched...it wud be great it IR/YSR/KR reduce the no of songs for her....
IMO.....the song which she had sung in Friends and dheena r really good....but the songs cud hav been a lot more better if people like sadhana sargam or sujatha had sung those songs..

Singers of the 90s are in no way near or comparable to the singers before the 90s. The 90s singers have no uniqueness in their voice. All women sound the same, shrieky. Most men just shout in the name of singing. And then, there are those exotic butchers from HFM.
Musicians of the 90s very rarely compose music. Most of the time it is just disharmonious trash.
Lyrics are the 90s speak for themselves.
90s is the worst thing ever happened to TFM.

Tamil kolaiin lyrics and supportive music was an unwated thing in TFM. When asked who's responsible the MD's point towards lyricists, Lyricists point towards directors and directors towards ignorant people....Poor people.. Movie makers should not pin-pointedly think about only moneymaking....

Your opinion is yours and you are welcome to it. But if you call Deva's and SAR's singing masterpieces - for whatever reason - your opinions are best kept to yourself. :-)

Worst ThingS, I don't know...? However let me list some bad things that happened in TFM!
1. Early death of Pattukottai (somebody said this earlier)
2. AMRaja VS Viswanathan Ladai!
3. Monopolization of TMS/PS
4. SJ ignored in her earlier years
5. Split of MSV and TKR
6. Many wonderful Lyricists like Suradha, Marudhakasi, were sparsely used..
7. Panju learning nothing from his mentor and writes stupid lyrics.. IR uses him as he was either the producer or because of gratitude
8. Shankar-Ganesh first copying MSV, later switching to IR style songs (These duo has given some nice numbers too...)
9. Gangai Amaran's raise as a Lyricist.. IR using him and making write 'Maane/Thene' songs is another disaster
10. Gangai AMaran raise as MD.. Either copied Irs songs from SHelf (may be rejected for other big films) or copying other language songs to satisfy K. Balaji (Vazhve Mayam, Prema Pasam...)!
11. IR's scant respect for singers, claiming he can make hits by making a donkey singing (or something on that effect..). His preference of Mano over SPB in the later years was a real bad thing!
12. IR's scant respect for good lyrics (as evident in using Panju/GA or other no-gooders.. Later he himself started writing them)
13. IR-VM break-up
14. Vaali turning to be a GA, writing all the stupid lyrics
15. Mani - IR break-up (However it also did a good deed in bringing in ARR)
16. Increase in lack of original music by DEVA/SAR/SIRPI and others
17. Lyrics getting more detiorated.. (IR should partly get the blame for that!)
18. Raise of Non-Tamil/Tamil Singers with horrible pronounciation
19. Number 1 singer Hariharan, has scant regards for pronounciation (he once boasted that he trained for some Urdu Ghazal, but it is sad that he cannot pronunce words in his own mother tongue, or is it?)
The worst thing is that the stawarts have never admitted their errors and errors are continously being made...
