Vaanavil Talent Quest 2003

Vaanavil Talent Quest is a prestigious talent quest for amateur singers, with the top prize being a Kia make car. VTQ No. 1’s winner was Sheila Raman who got to sing a song under Bharadwaj in the movie Engey Enathu Kavithai. Bharadwaj was one of the judges of the finals.

Last year’s winner was Alinda Alphonse and she is expected to sing under Harris Jeyraj’s music, who was one the judges of the finals. She sang Rukku rukku rukku splendidly and was a good comedienne too.

Who will be the winner of VTQ 2003 and who will be the MD for the finals?
As usual we will have to wait for Tamil new year to know the results. In the meantime, share your thoughts here.

  The first heat was shown just now. The songs sang, the singers and the points they obtained are as follows -

  Some comments -
  
  The host Govind and Sumitha were okay, but I don't understand why Govind needs to laugh at his own jokes.
  
  Surprisingly there were a couple of fast songs sung as opposed to melodies. Helen was very good.
  
  If given a choice I would have picked Evano oruvan as the best song sung.

  Vaanavil is a channel in Malaysian Sattelite TV (similar to cable TV)...
  
  it is a recorder programme...(for most of the legs)...only Final will be LIVE....which, so far being judges by famous Musicians from India...

  Third Year - Any idea guys?
  
  It is the best talen searching competition I have ever seen in this region (South East Asia)....as it involves, in Singing, Acting and/or any other talents.......

  Shantha Kumari has done a great job but no chance for semifinal round. The judges are all O.K except K.J Babu. he is a blady idiot who never like to give chances to new faces but has been announced " puthu muga kalainyargalai nereya arimugam seytha perumai ivarai serum". I dont know why Vaanavil let this stupid bugger to be the judge "enname perusa kilichitta mathiri" He is only a keyboard actor with playing disks on his keyboard and act like playing..

  Bhardwaj is making a guest appearance.

  This years Vaanavil Talent Quest really sucks!! and y'all know what I mean....it's like all the judgements from the beginning till the GRAND FINALS are full of crap. Even the lead judge "thennisai thendral Deva" desicion was backened up...I wonder how the local judges can make Anuradha the winner....She is a good singer...but we all know that there are finalist that were better than her.
  Anuradha was in the 7th rank when she entered final round (6.5 something)....and you can see that Madhan raj, saravana kumar, kavithas....their marks from the beginning was high even in their finals.... hey man.... I can say that most of the songs "Easy" even no "sarigama".My choice was jegathesan.....he was awesome! I disagree with his points from the beginning...he should be the winner if you ask me....look at this one ...easy songs get high marks...tough ones get low marks....c'mmonlah waey....I suggest that we have a public voting next year..coz only public have the power to predict a singer's destiny....only they can create a successful singer....And about our local judges this year...the point giving was disappointing.. PUBLIC VOTING IS THE BEST...2002's VTQ was a good example...this year was totally out...OUT.

  Very very sad this year's PTP coz Deva's rejected choice was announced as the first prize winner. All the audience was shout for Madhan.That should follow the prosedure. The winner from all SMS and local judge must go for the final round with Deva & Deva should pick up the winners. I also think they should tell the viewers how the points are calculated. The sad thing is the best not been selected... Anurada Sriram also sad coz the winners are lost from the list. I think Kavita should be the winner. This year's PTP is really insulating Deva as chief judge. Anurada 's points were low in begining, only 6.598 at 7th place. I THINK DEVA'S FANS MUST BE ANGRY NOWWW. I hope if Vannil wants to do a contest like this again, must think many times.....and give good results

  How could u call someone as high profile as Deva to be Head of Judges...but then he have no final say.....it is insulting...
  
  Astro spoilt the show by humilitaing Deva...
  
  If they want to decide by SMS then just let he judges to select 10 ten that's all
  not to select the winner, but so-called SMS entries superceeds their decision...

  I really agree with u all guys! The final result was really insulting our great tennisai tendral Deva. How can a contestant who was at rank 4 suddenly jump to 1. Unbelieveable, ya! Don't you all agree with me? We are not so stupid ,ya. The prize should go to Kavitha or Shamini. I don't mind if Mathan got it.He is a talented singer. But I don't know how....... WHAT HAPPENED THERE, HA? Anyone know?

  I think Deva was not supposed to tell in public his ranking of the singers. Harris Jeyaraj and Bharadwaj didn't do that. Maybe Deva misunderstood the instructions but it gave us the oppurtunity to see that the results for the 2003 contest is fixed. A music director of Deva's experience had already chosen Kavitha as the winner. What is the point of including SMS votes? Vanavil wants to do a PopStar type of contest. But in PopStar, the final contest is determined 100% percent by public votes - NO JUDGES!!! The 7 judges were puppets.

  Vaanavil sholuld based either on the pannel board of the judges or sms selection .... Anyhow Astro Vaanavil should release their final decision based on the pannel board of the judges & final decision should be ULTIMATELY based on the CHIEF JUSTICE (who is a respectfull person & well experienced in this field steadily for no. of years) ... then what is the point bringing such experts from overseas by incurring heavy costs... i really just cant believe it ... WHO DID THE MISTAKE ... no matter did it ... how VAANAVIL can based on the SMS... who knows that the SMS were forwarded from the RELATED PARTIES (still HOME VIEWERS ARE NOT MUSICAL JARGONS ... only kelvi nganam) ill go for SARAVANA KUMAR, SHARMINI, KAVITHA, MADHAN RAJ / JEGATHESAN ,,, ANYHOW PAST IS PAST i hope so Vaanavil will rectify their mistake asap and will produce WELL STRUCTURED EVENTS & PROGRAMS.
