Why ARR ignores established/Senior singers?

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

ARR always promoted new, unheard voices right from the beginning, he always used senior and established singers like PS, SPB,SJ, Yesudass, Mano, Chitra for very less songs. He promoted many new singers. One benefit he got out of this is that we are able to hear fresh voices, but on the other hand he lost the quality of songs by compromising with horrible pronounciation of these singers, lack of experience and definetely missing the punch those experienced singers had.

There are lot of songs, I thought the song would have better if sang by somebody else. Latest BABA too has a wrong selection of singers. Particularly Shankar Mahadevan and Reena Bhardwaj. I would have preferred Sujatha over Reena. What could be the reason?

  Yes you are right NCR. He tries to bring in new talents. Probably because, with his different way of making music based on western composition, and combining with new voice which he thinks is suitable for that, he is trying. No harm. But, whether people like it or not, the business goes well. So, when all goes well, all errors will be tolerated. But, once something flops, which makes business gets stuck, then all these errors will be looked under magnified glass.
  
  Until then it is good for ARR. Let us see how long this could go on. May be 10 years. Time will be the judge here.

  PS had the best voice ever, now she is old, SJ though the most versatile female singer ever, she is also very old & voice sounds very shrill @ high octaves, KJY is still good for sad songs, but SPB is good for any song, his voice has not aged @ all, It is verry irritating when Shankar sings for Rajni, how pathetic ?

  FYI, Mano has sung almost 17000 songs starting from 1979 under several music directors in many languages. He has been around for 23 years now and this doesn't qualify, according to you, as being an established singer? KSC came a few years after Mano did. I'm sure you recognized her as an "established singer". Mano is indeed quite senior to most of the singers in the field now!

  ARR ignored PS right from 1992. How beautiful was kannukku mayi azaghu when PS sang that. The other bit in Duet ( mettu podu ) was really excellent. Mano is a senior singer. Even Chitra is not getting good deal from ARR.

  Anbody who don't use KJY must be a stupid!! He is such a gifted singer who can sing both movie songs and carnatic songs with equal felicity.
  Who can forget that ChitChor song Gori tera.
  Illayaraja used him very very effectively. I really miss KJY's divine voice. But since i happen to know malayalam i can listen to his voice.
  
  Listen to the song Vennilla Chandana Kinnam by KJY from Azagia Ravanan. Vidhya Sagar gave an excellent melody. With green lush field in the backdrop, this song was awesome picturisation. I miss KJY badly in tamil movies.

  Instead of concerned about their own liking, why not they can sense and experiment with only concern for providing best possible song including good lyrics, singer suitable for that situation, and good rhythm.
  
  I think only MDs who did this were MSV and TKR, when they were together. MSV after that did that most of the time. Otherwise, we would not have had many PBSreenivas songs.
  
  IR started that trend of ignoring what people think and using singers of his own interest. But, now when people ignore him, may be he would have thought about this aspect.
  
  ARR continued that trend even more. And in return there are lot of singers who dont even know Tamil and its emotion, try conveying the situation of the movie through their voice. When ARR trends vanishes, it would not even be as smooth as IR's.
  
  Overall it is still good to use TMS(he is still able to sing), for very sad situation in the movie. SPB for good mood and well for any mood.
  
  All I am saying is, it is not good to ignore talents. If correctly used, they will make ever living songs, and in turn, MDs will make their name to stay along with it.
  
  Even today, "Nallavarkkellam Satchigal Rendu Onru Manasatchi..." has effect on people when it plays on radio in the night time. So, will MDs think about this ever in life. Or they will simply be carried away with their own EGO. When is this pathetic situation going to change.

  I dont know whether a change would be in near future because with so called singers only the albums are becoming hit. Since albums are becoming hit, there is no check for MD's. I hear few ARR songs when remade in telugu, where in Tamil original somebody like SHankar, Hariharan would have sang that song, where as in telugu SPB would have sung. There is hell lot of difference between the two. When we listeners know it, why cant MD's realise it? IS there a problem of availabitly of these senior singers that MD's are not giving him a chance?

  Producers, directors and actor, actreses are also there to influence in selecting the singer.
  I have seen that IR has always tried to match the voice and modulation according to his natural voice. Reason he used Kamal's voice to sing in his film and IR's voice for Rajkiran or Naasar etc.
  Well IR never ignored TMS. He has already justified it many times. That TMS would sing many a times as he usually sings going beyond the tune. So he has to take another singer.
  These are the few reason why IR did not use some so called talents.
  Well ARR is doing experiments at the cost od producers money thats all.
  people like Visiri, why ? are there to support ARR to what ever he gives as so called music or melody. Hence he is doing it.

  very true, it's not just ARR, but IR has done the same thing, in tamil "ennai thalata varuvazha" is by hari, but in Telugu, it is by SPB, one song from kannathil muthamital (by jeychandran, very very very good singer), is sung by SPB in the telugu version.

  It is surprising someone say SPB's voice sound no good it used to be. If it is not good which is good? Even if one can accept for argument sake that SPB's voice sound no good it used to be, still it is THE BEST among the available pack.

  Yeah, even today SPB rocks. He stands way out of rest of Singers. Even in this latest BABA.He can lift an ordinary song way UP.. His Mun paniya.. I thought he would get national award for that , but I dont know why he didnt get.
