I don't know about the others, but I can share with you what I know about a few MDs...
1) Deva
He has two assistants - Sabesh and Murali who identify the chartbusters after enquiring about the sales at MusicWorld, Spencer Plaza. New Tamil film, Old Tamil Film, English Album, Hindi Album, Britney Spears, Shania Twain, Michael Jackson. Artiste no bar! Emmadhamum sammadhamnu dhesiya ottrumayaikaaga poraadaraanga. Actually, they take it to international level. Yeah, after this is done, they buy this CD. Then they play it in Winamp and get some Voice Removal Software and intergrate it with Winamp. (Wow, what a technology!) They then choose a proper singer, play them another cassette that has the "finalised tune". And then they finally mix it and record it. This, they call fusion.
2) S.A.Rajkumar
Deva does a lot of hardowrk. SAR doesn't need to, that's the difference. He doesn't enquire about the cassette sales or anything as he doesn't have any assistants. Cho Chad! So he actually plays his own cassette. Any of his previous films actually, it's all the same. So he has the tune and the music. What else is needed? Kai-la mic onnu koduththu pakkathula nadakkara Kalyaana Ooravalathula record pannuvaaru.
3) Harris Jeyaraj
He is narrowed down version of Deva. He doesn't give a damn to national integrity and stuff. Takes the help of his "fellow" citizsens alone. I even heard he's gonna shave of his head, so that would give you some idea as to who inspires him. The beats are usually inspired from his "inspiration". Nothing wrong actually, only if you get inspired, the other person is an inspiration!! But then he adds his own stamp to the music. How? He usually asks people to get into a deep well and sing, so that it sounds ghostly. Makes sure people concentrate on this part to find out what they are singing so that the focus is taken of the beats. Chinna vayasilirundhae ippadi thaan, romba brilliant ivaru. Adhaan, as usual ellarayum kaththa vittu, side-la appadiye low volume-la ARR cassette poattu, digitally remaste pannuvaaru songs-a.
P.S. : NOM and Sorry for the disgression!! :-)

continues where C~P left off...
4) Sirpi -
His funda is keeping all things simple. romba complicate pannikka maataaru. mandaya pottu udachikka maataaru.
a) He doesn't go too far in geography. He sticks only to those Arabic hits, Middle eastern songs that includes Khaleed, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and hit qawwali here and there.
b) All he does is pick 'em up, polish it off
c) find a Tamil singer (Mano...more often) to sing it
d) asks the lyricist to write the song exactly to the same original tune and records it.
e)Repeat steps a-d for other songs in the film.
Result: Musical blockbuster

Unique technique. Enndhaan adikkardhu copy-a irundhaalum, adhilum ivar thozhil dharmam paarpaaru. Manasukku thripthi-a irundha dhaan proceed pannuvaaru. Idhunaaldhaan Telugu directors ellam ivara padathukku book panraangannu pona varusham Ananda Vikatan-la padichaen.
