Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  So when Naatamai says
  "Yes, I have a great sense of humour. But jokes apart, those two albums are flops. I believe the streak continues for New and AE too."
  
  he means
  "No, U haven't bad of seriosuness. And preaches togethere, those two albums are hits. U don't believe the inconsistency discontinues for Old and AE too."

  yes paran u r correct. I only fear if nattamai says KKS, E20U18 are hits which will mean those are actually flops. I think even nattamai feels AE and New will be super hits as he says the streak will continue. Thanks nattamai for saying in advance that AE and New will be hits.

  Naattamai has a good sense of humour. Whenver he wants to say something about ARR he says that in the opposite way. We should understand that he is praising not degrading ARR. He says KKS, E20U18 etc are flops, that means those are successful

  A MESSAGE TO ALL IR FANS.
  
  ARR destroyed IR's career is a fact, in the last 10 years how many albums of IR beat ARR in the sales.
  Kadulu mariyathai sold well. So was Sethu.
  How many songs in friends were good?
  Remember the Kumudam article by Kalaipuli thanu he said Kamal wanted to sell the music of Abhay to a particular company because they paid for Hey ram and it didn't sell well, he even showed the 500 rs advance that the music company gave Thanu.
  
  Poor IR couldnt do well in a period film but ARR gave a similar period film Laagan soul stirring music that sold like hot cakes all over India and the world.
  
  
  After a brilliant Thalapathy, IR should have been offered hindi film music, i don't know why nobody offered IR a decent good budget hindi film.
  probably they thought he cant do it.
  
  Water finds its own level, similarly Talent cant be contained.
  IR can never give hindi music with authenticity that ARR gave.
  
  ARR graduated from TFM to HFM and now world music.
  IR is still here in TFM.
  
  IR did earn a lot of money till 92, so after that he should have done less work, make sure each song is heard everywhere, he should please both the masses and classes.
  He didnt he was self obsessed with his music, that proved so bad to his career.
  
  Manirathnam dropped him off after a great album like Thalapathy, Balachander doesnt work with him and so is his dear buddy Bharitiraja.
  All the regulars with IR dumped him and his music, so after thalapathy a possible uprising graph went downwards, its going down every day which spoils his reputation.
  
  Take an exaple of balu mahendra, his previous films like mundram pirai and eratai val kuruvi has good music but why did IR gave tunes like he did for raman abdullah and julee ganapathy.
  Weren't the tunes of these two films show any class?
  
  Why isn't IR unable to give the music he did in the past to Balu mahendra?
  he lost his pace and creativity is for sure.
  IR fans : dont talk about the few songs he gave in 10 years, if IR made 150 films in last ten years for example that is about 700-800 songs just citing 10-15 songs doesnt make any sense - realise.
  
  IR has become a kanathu thavalai, all IR fans realise this but they are unable to bear it.
  I feel sorry for them.
  
  Kamal says IR is the best but why did Kamal invite ARR to do the unity of light concert in chennai to raise funds for cancer institute? he could have asked IR to do the same but kamal being a good business man realises that IR hasnt given a great deal of superb tunes in the recent times and he is not a crowd puller. IR fans think about it.
  This will show the true position of how IR is in TFM.
  
  I read a post if society doesnt accept IR's music then they are missing something, let me tell you music is beyond any religion, even an uneducated man can tap his foot or hum to a good tune so if IR cannot produce great tunes in regular frequency people will forget him.
  for example:
  Remember the Titanic song - every night in my dreams, even uneducated persons were whistling that song - IR fans your reasons are just funny.
  
  Talent finds its level - it can never be contained.
  IR fans dont find lame excuses - your brains will accept it but not your heart.

  The 'Article like' stuff by Srinivas....
  ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. What was in my mind was exactly put down by him. Its an unaccepted fact by many that IR is losing his class.
  Only Kadallukku Mariyathai had IRs magic. IR should have beaten ARR in these 10 years if he his really the best among the best since ARR's age almost IR's exp in Music and films. But ARR has repeatedly proved his stature. All the instruments and tech that IR and other mds use now were first introduced by Rehman. He introduced DItial Music in INDIA. This is an undenyable fact. No one in India ever heared music like ROJA before 1991. It sounded different.
  
  But one thing, everybody is number one in their time. Everbody will be overtaken. Ir was the best in 80s. Rahman in the 90s and now. It is inevitable that someone will surely catch his place. Though I would say none of the present MDs like Yuvan or Harris could outsmart Rehman. Yuvan is much better than Harris. Harris is just trying to copy Rehmans style.
  
  MSV had his own style. IR's music was different. ARR who came from IR has an amazingly varied style. But Harris, Yuvan for that matter any md now follow the style of Rehman. Only when genunity and originality is present, Music and the music dir stand out.
  That is why MSV,IR,ARR are legends.
  Personally I would say Karthik Raja possessed the capacity to produce better music than the present mds. I donno why he isn't being used. Last seen for re-recording 'GEETHAI'.

  Your comparision is meaningless and lacks with context.
  
  Its not the lack of creativity from Ilayaraja, but the lack of it from the mediocre directors and poor lyricist.
  
  So, We should see the whole picture! and not the sounds (sales) alone :-)
  
  IR has always maintained a style of his own and no one has ever done a musical piece as simpler than him.
