why IRcan't achieve national awards?

IR is a music genius.still today he is unbeatable in BGMs.eventhough he done saga musics in some films like SIRSICHALAI,HEY RAM,SETHU.AZHAGI,
he cannot achieve national awards frequently,
shall we discuss why it happens?

  Unless and until somebody talks bad about ARR or his talent, I feel you guys needn't use this years' national award as a sadistic veapon against IR fans !

  National Award is no more based on true performance. You need to be blessed with contacts of big guys. IR has won more enemies. MR, BR, BC, VM.... etc. IR may have fallen out of favor from some "sotta thalais". They incredibly gave award to Raveena Tandon joke of that year. That explains what kind of standard in these awards. You know why Russell Crowe didn't win Oscar this year. Russell Crowe is not well liked by many. He is arrogant in person. It affected his chances. I don't make it up. But in the oscar ceremony commentary they discussed about it. So don't feel let down. When Minsara Kanavu wins an award you can well imagine what kind of standard it must be having.

  This is the inside scoop I have. Do'nt ask me the source.
  After IR recived 3 awards in 4 years(84,86,87), he has personally requested the National awards commitee that he should not be considered for any awards in future.
  Hence the reason for not getting Padma awards and et all.

  No doubt IR is a Genius. He is the only Genius.
  Scoop sayer you may be true. But the truth can also be that IR have not done a Great Work as he had done before in the past 10 years. I'm not saying he is doing bad these days. His work until today is far superior than most of the TFM MDs.

  IR doesn't care for awards. All he wanted was recognition by our government. He has mentioned that many times (www.raajangahm.com). A lot of IR's movies deserved awards. I can name atleast a 100 movie but they were never became famous outside tamil nadu. How can we blame IR for that? His movies (not songs) didn't have a wider scope to attract people outside TM. You couldn't dub movies like nizhalgal, johny etc in hindi and make the northies to watch them. Could you? But you could do that for bombay and kadalan. If you are not famous in north india, you cannot expect awards. That's the fact (fate?). Despite this IR got 3 awards and I would say that's equivalant to 30 awards under this situation

  after giving so many hits IR has also promised that he will not give any more. he is bored by giving anymore hits.
  
  IR 1 award vangina adhu 10 award ku samam, hence he has got about 30 awards now.
  
  some IR fans always comes up with nizalgal and johnny as examples, when there are tons of great songs from him.

  the so called IR fan - JJ when cornered, changes his name to something and begins abusing everyyone with words that define JJ's birth problems.

  ARR is gnansunyam enough not to be able to score something like Enna Yennai from IVAN. Can he score something like that? impossible. I was disappointed with whoever did that. Now i am disappointed he didn't do enough to you guys scoop.

  See, IR had been given this years award, then the very same people who say that award committee is currupt and IR never wishes any award will start singing different song. IR did not score anything worth for years to claim an award from an independent panel. Yes, his hey ram and few others had good music in them. But I could not say that they were the best that year. In that sense if you see, ARR's Dil Se, Iruvar, Taal and Zubeida should have got awards. Why, Duet should have really got him one.
  Its like univ. exams. We all know how Madras univ corrects paper. You might have done really well, but you will only just pass. Some other wouldn't have even answered half the questions, he would have got the good marks. But, those who top mostly and many times deserve that position. It happens every where. ARR got this time. Not sure when will he get next. But, am sure there will be more films which would have deswerved awards for him.

  I agree to most of your things, except that IR hasn't scored anything worth for years, Have you seen Bharathi, Do you mean to say it doesn't deserve an award and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam had better music than that ?

  Yes I agree with Barathy. Sure contender. No doubt. But, there was also KKKK and Zubeida. Now, am I not entitled to feel that injustice been done to ARR. What a composition was KKKK and have you heard zubeida. I have seen the film in Delhi. Wonderful touching film with a soothing undisturbing BGM. When DDCS came, ARR's Taal was the contender. Now tell me as an independed judge, what will you rank the bast taal or DDCS. But DDCS got best MD award, inspite of the fact that Ismail Darbar didn't do the BGM.
  
  If you see, both IR and ARR should have got many of the awards with went the other way. Infact if there was a competion then , it should have been with these two only. But, IR was not the Ir atleast I used to know some 15 yars agao. Only now, I think IR has started giving some public friendly as well as classic combo scores. That too only from last year. If this is just an illusion or a mirrage then I can't help it.

  I feel 'Duet' is one of Rahman's best albums till date (includes little bit of nice BGM as well !!)
  
  Duet should have got one if Minsarak kanavu deserves an award (NOM to MK album :-)

  NagaS - i like the song "Anjaali Aaaanjaali" in DUET very much..... other than this song, no other song was so great in this album.... the song "venilaavin theril erri" or something like that by KJY and another singer was also good.... but was the album worth getting an award - certainly no....

  Another album that can be considered on par with Duet is Pudhiya Mugam...these were a few albums that were out and out masterpieces. But sadly ARR isnt giving us music like that these days..

  you ARR idiots will always say he should have got that award. raja should have got atleast 10 awards by this time if not for idiotic and unfriendly panel. dont compare arr with raja. raja is the best and noone can match him. sivaji also didnt get national award for acting though every one knew noone can match him.
  sivaji,raja are artists who are recognised outside india but indian govt doesnt understand what type of talent these have
