Sun Tvyil Ilayaraajavin interview paarthen. About the music, in His own words, " Indhiya thirai isai ulaga varalaatrile migapperiya thuvakkam, idhai pola yaarum panniyadhum illai, pannapovadhum illai" enru solli irukkkirar. Eppadi irukka poginradhu endru ninaithaale manadhil nadukkam pirakkindradhu...
The BGM, as we all know, has been played by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. IR talked proudly about how much He enjoyed working with them, and how the conductor appreciated His work. He talked about how this was the first time a symphony orchestra has played for a film in Indian history, and how superior he felt the quality of sound and feel would be.
Later, He became sentimental about how people in India do not respect the artists we have. He felt really sad that while every small town in Europe had a symphony orchestra, there was nothing here.. One could detect even a touch of anger, when He said - " Bombayil Tata Opera Hall katti irukkanga. Yaaru vasikkappora? Adhukkum velinaattu aalungala dhan kooppiduveenga... Yenna maadhiri aalunga ellam edhukku irukkirom? naan oru film music director, yennaala symphony orchestrakkaga ellam ezhudha mudiyadhu paarunga..."
I am dying to see and listen to the movie ....

Dear Mr. Hariprasad and Friends,
I listened to the program online at Numrv.com (test run by sun TV online) with lot of interruption, IR has done it again, the great genious has done a great job (based on the BGM scores for the short video clips shown during the program) they are just breath taking ( I would say probably equivalent to 100 devadhai and Mugam kind of movies in just those few clippings, as some body said aptly in the same interview, "narambu vedikkira maadhiriyaana BGM pottirukkar Raja"),
A sincere request to the webmasters from INDIA if any of u have recorded the program it will be a great treat to every music lover if one of you could upload it on the TFM page,
Raja has finally made his mind to treat his fans with the long awaited Symphony music perhaps by effectively adapting the same for this master piece from Kamal,
Long live IR

Actually Raja Sir did not attack anyone as he is not as childish as us:)
He also uses synthesized/computer music at times. But he clarified that music composition by any music director has to be customized to the synthesizer/computer. Whereas in flesh & blood(orchestra!) an orchestra will cuztomize to what the composer composes.
He is so right!! And in that, he also excels beyond anyone!!

I'm sorry, but some negative feeling is coming up within me w.r.t the BGM of HR...the promo seems to be too much, why, to the levels of `hype' IMO! Let's pray it does not turn out to be another `unheard symphony'...

It was an amazing interview i have seen of IR, he spoke about the quality of our music and western music. There was true spirit in him when he spoke about lack of life in few style of music. He was decent enough in criticizing also. Basically when i heard the SYMPHONY piece that is being used for HR's BGM, it was marvellous, wonderful.... no word to describe about that, Thanks to KAMAL for bringing such talent! I am still disappointed for not hearing full fledged SYMPHONY.
HATS OFF RAJA !!!
regards

The movie clip available at MPR's link is indeed a sample of what quality we may expect in the bgm. IMO, it is definitely appreciative.

The music is amazing, but don't you feel he had a bit of arrogance in that speech ?

Dear All, (especially IR Fan)
Do u think that was arrogance which He displayed? I really feel that the genius was just speaking the truth as He felt it. I feel Oru genius unmaiyai sonnal adhu saadhaarana manidharagalukku "Arrogance" aaga theriyum, that means that manidhan has not realized the fact that the genius is a much superior mortal, a unique creation of god. U feel that he is just another fellow human, so he is bound by the constraints of the supposed people who give verdicts on human character - to be humble, to downplay his achievements..
Muhammad Ali said - "I am the greatest" - that was not really interpreted as Arrogance, the world revelled in the fact that he indeed was the greatest and his own statement only increased his charisma. In fact , hearing him say that was an inspiring sight in itself.
I was really inspired when He said that this film's music was going to be one of His great achievements (something to that effect)

hi
it was so great to hear ilaiyaraja express his feelings after a long time. it is a great time for all IR fans as he has been hogging the limelight for the last 3 months, starting with the excellent music for time, followed by the scintillating background score in sethu, melodious songs in kannukkul nilavu, folk songs of tirunelveli and now the smash hit hey ram. we only expect that he continues this run and excels not onlyu in film music but also in all other forms of music

I listened to Ilayaraja's interview on Sun TV.
Personally, I felt that Ilayaraja showed a lot
of energy (some frustration too), but no arrogance.
It was a good interview. The interview was
conducted by Santhana Bharathi, who, I think,
is an Asst Director for Hey Ram. I happened to
record the interview. I have encoded it and put
it in my PPP-RA website..

Thx a lot. It was just as I expected. I thought the songs were Raja's own. He did admit that. The song "nee paarththa" is breath-taking. I wonder how IR composed it for a pre-picturized (which itself is a poem in movement) shot !!
once again thx..

if it happens, its really good Srikanth.... but i doubt it.... that's the feeling I had when he released Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.... but then there was no album last year which was successful (i mean commercially).... well lets see...

Thanx sk for ur recording.
Lets not degrade him with awards (srikanth). We already degraded Sivaji Ganesan with a the "best supporting actor" award.
Nowhere in the world would a genius be so maligned and sidelined by their own people. Look at the way he needs to speak for himself.
Its our duty as Tamilians to expose him to the world to take him to the bigger stage.
Note the way he asks, for the talents like himself,kamal..et al not be wasted. The indian populace needs to go a long way to mature..

sabesan, KM is just thukuda when compared.
I was able to feel the grandness and great width in the score!
oflate, width was lacking in raja's score, ram hey score is really wide!...this width makes a score international. also WC is kaivanda kalai, so pundhu vilai AditAr!..

NURSERY RYHMES :-)) *ROTFL* God ! how long have I been saying this in this forum ! :-)) Glad to see my idol agrees :-)
"Each and every note...is my note". Read my lips ! No CD samples :-)))
Fast Food vs Mother's cooking :-)
Doesn't look like us DFers are very far off the mark with our arguments :-) I always used to wonder if our arguments had little to do with how the composers themselves felt about their compositions !
MS:
"Nee Partha" seems to be a background song. That shouldn't be too tough for any half-decent composer to accomplish. I'd love to hear what L.Sub's version sounded like. I guess "Polladha Madhana Baanam" must have been the toughest in terms of composing for picturized sequences. I am still a little skeptical that they did not re-shoot even a single scene for the songs !
What I didn't understand was, on one hand IR wants to preserve our "kalacharam" and on the other he wants to promote Western Classical Music ! Where do the twain meet ?
Another impression I got was that IR loves to talk music theory. He would make a wonderful Professor or Researcher.

How many 'Srikanths' are there in this DF? One Srikanth praises IR and another doesn't and then another....??
