  Sreedhar, I too saw this film on TV long back and remember liking this song very much. But I don't think Sarangapani sang it. It was sung by the actor who played the cook- I have a feeling it may be either Kali N Rathnam or Natarajan.

  oh? Towards the end of the song, the lady of the house comes and sees him singing (and ignoring the cooking). I thought that is his wife. I guess I don't remember the face of that actor-cook-singer very well.
  
  Is the K.Sarangapany (hero?) of En Manaivi [42] the same as the Dol-thaatha of Missiamma [55]? The pic at http://www.avmindia.com/1935-45.html certainly suggests that. I did not see En Manaivi (except for the song), but I saw Missiamma.

  Sreedhar, yes it is the same Sarangapani. He also sings the song 'Ayyayyo paarkka kannu koosuthey'in Vedala Ulagam.
  
  K R Ramaswami (Kudanthai Ramabadhra Ramaswami) was known as 'Nadippisai Pulavar'-As the name suggests, he was an actor who sang his songs as well. his voice might not have been great, but it was earthy and natural.
  
  Some of his other good songs:

  Saravanan, thanks for telling me about KRR. 'uLLam thEdAdhE' is a good song, I like it very much. That is the only time I heard KRR.
  
  I would like to hear his rendition of the Bharathiar song 'Vettri yettu Thikkum yetta Kottum Murase', in Ore Iravu [51] which had dialogues by C.N.Annadurai, and was the first film directed by Pa.Neelakantan. I have that same Bharathiar song sung by DK Pattammal, with different tune, in Naam Iruvar [47], for which Baby Kamala danced. That is also a great song.
  
  Baby Kamala has many dances (to patriotic songs) in Naam Iruvar. By the way, did she marry (and later divorce) R.K.Laxman?

  Saravanan, I feel it would be appropriate to list KRR among the TFM line-up of singers. There are so many songs you have enumerated. please do so.
  
  Then, is 'baby Kamala' of Naam Iruvar different from 'Kumari Kamala' who acted 'O rasikkum seemaanE vaa' in Parasakthi? Who married R.K.Laxman? Manisegaran tells me that the Naam Iruvar Kamala married and divorced an army person.

  'Ullam thedaathe endru solluthe, enna sonnaalum kann theduthey'-KRR-SJ, is a magical duet from the film 'Ethayum Thaangum Idhayam'-1962. MD-TR Papa. Another duet by KRR-SJ from the same film is 'Kannun kannum kalandhadhu thaan kaadhalu'
  
  Baby Kamala, Kumari Kamala and Kamala Laxman are one and the same. I don't know about an army officer, but she was married to RK Laxman and they are now divorced. She lives in the U.S. She was an excellent dancer, though her career as an actress never really took off. Nevertheless, her roles in Sivangangai Seemai-1959, Paavai Vilakku-1960 and Konjum Salangai-1962 are memorable.

  Saravanan, thanks!! After Kumari Kamala, R.K.Laxman divorced, each married another person with the same name as their first spouse! R.K.Laxman's second wife Kamala writes children's stories.
  
  If Manisegaran is right, then "baby/Kumari" Kamala got married and divorced twice
  -- first R.K.Laxman and then the army Laxman.
