KR is most likely to sound like IR as he has worked with IR on so many projects. He did the song Eh Vanjikodi in Ponnumani even though it was an IR movie. IR has given ample opportunity for KR in his projects and due to this, KR has IR's influence heavily in his music. Whereas YSR as far as I know has not worked with IR on any projects (Can somebody verify this?)
This is why YSR has hardly any IR influence in his music.
Paran I too saw the interview on Singapore TV and did you not find that it seemed to be IR and KR were very close but YSR was not.

KR does sound like iR only in few songs .But if u listen to Ullasam ,Naan Iruvaar Namakku Iruvar ,Grahan ,Kadhala Kadhla ,16 December ..They are very different ..I think he does not use loops as YSR does ( AM i right ????)

Mumbai Ramki, KR uses a lot of inspiration from Michael Jackson and has done more blatant lifts that YSR. YSR has only copied IR's Rhim Jhim, but KR copied colours of the wind disgracefully!
Paran I am not in Singapore now but I can send it you if you want?

As far as i know YSR is streets ahead of KR, KR's album Grahan had 2-3 numbers lifted from IR's old songs... YSR hasn't done anything so blatanlty as yet.. and also YSR seems to be a nice guy... he speaks nice things abt other MD's and especially abt ARR( whom IR has criticised to the hilt)... while KR was very critical of ANU Malik in an B4U channel interview 2 years back.... it doesnt look gud when one MD trades charges on another... YSR has all the ingredients to become another ARR....

Maddy I agree with you totally. It is a well know fact that KR is unpopular in TFM due to his arrogance and behaviour, but YSR is dwon to earth and gives credit where it is due no matter who he is talking about.

maddy i stand corrected on puthiya geeethai.and iam astonished too on the facts u people are pouring in over KR. i dunno maybe ive got to be keen on watching who is who betn KR and YSR. on aravindhan iam still doubtful. pls check on that maddy i still think it was frm KR.
but i still cant agree on u peopel trying to make YSR the nxt superstar. he has a long way to go.but looking back at the history: whenh IR ruled this place there were SG, CB, SAR, DEVA,MM, etc., who were too making good music at times but it took one ARR to break the rules to be at the top. if ARR too had adopted IRs style then he wud hav been jus another musician. so as far as i think some one has to hav immense talent to be brave enuff to be a pioneer only they can become superstars. and YSR is not a scuh one.......
we can only wait for someone out there who is expecting a break to enter into films with a new style of music. till then its IR and ARR only..

Rajasaranam,
it was me (V) who made the corrections.
And yes SAM YSR is the MD of Aravindhan.
We are just saying that among the ARR-like clones YSR seems to be very impressive and he continually surprises me with his songs in every album

I like KR a lot too!
However I have heard frequent comments from my friend that HR is very arogant!
Can someone explain to me what he did??
MADDY, as a friend can I give you one serious advice??? Why dont you just ignore the expletives dished out by some really stupid IR fans on ARR??? I know you feel like you want to retaliate and show them that ARR fans are not dormant but it seriously hurts the scope for decent discussions like the ones we have been having on YSR.

I pretty much doubt your statement that "IR has criticised ARR to the hilt", this is the first time I am hearing this. Can you please quote or post some source link to this statement.

Hi guys,
Just a note. I think Maddy probably wanted to say that KR has criticized ARR to the hilt. It was in one of those interviews where KR said "AR Rahman is a good sound engineer and not a good music composer" when asked about ARR. I am not sure if these were the exact words, but it was atleast on the same tone.

MADDY ..you are probably confusing aspects of indian music with 'carnatic classical music'. Folk and carnatic are one and the same. But when people refer to the 'classical' music they are referring to a system of 72 mElakartha rAgams and its derivatives (janyams) and the krithis/kirthanas (whose structure influenced film music) composed with these rAgams. IR's expertise lies in composing songs with a rAgam as the base and maintaining the nature/feel of the rAgam throughout the song. He also does lots of scales changes etc (sruthi bEdham) etc to move from one rAgam to another and back. He is also known for mixing rAgams with Western classical music to show the similarities. The approach of IR is more basic and has fine subtleties. The songs of IR may not 'sound' very different - strings, tabla or drums, flute etc..But once you get over the sound and start following the notes you will appreciate the nuances.
Listen to 'indha maan ..undha sondha maan' - see how in the first interlude the string parts play out and hand it off to the flute..similarly the beginning parts of charanams are simple (with few chords) ..then when IR sings 'annamE ' see how the strings join, stop before starting again for the second line and ending with the cello flourishes !!! Nowadays, I dont see these kind of string playing in new MDs..even ARR seems to subcontract this out to other people !!

YSR is the best MD now and never failed in his albums.
Manadai Thirudivittai movie is a flop but the song are hit apart from the movie.
He takes very less time to finish it.

Jag, sorry man i dunt have links for this.. as these were all in TV interviews... but dunt worry it wunt be long b4 IR comes up with a derogatory statement against ARR... i'll post u the video even if it is an TV interview....
previous instnaces ::In an interview to SUN TV some 6 years back... when asked to comment on ARR he said..."No comments".... now if that is not bad, then while doing "Hey Ram" he used some Hungarian violins or some stuff( i dunt remember)and his comment on that was " naan garvathodu solren indha muraya yaarum, endha kombannum edhu varaikum payan padithiathillai" he was referrring to ARR of course bcos he said the so called good-technical MD's have not used it so far..... and on numereous interviews for Kumudam,Vikadan... he has told that ARR has spoiled TFM.....

While u guys see what ARR has to say abt. ARR::
in an interview to Saturday suplement of HINDU : ARR told the interviwer that IR is a towering proof of "AANMIGAM" in TFM.... he also told that IR showed to the world that MD's can live without drinks and other vices....
and in an interview to "Malai malar" he quoted as saying that " IR is an uncomparable stalwart in TFM... so dunt compare that gr8 man with a small man like me....
guys i wud love to get some proof behind my evidences but i was not NET-ACCESIBLE those days so u take it if u beleive it otherwise sorry if anything is false in this.....

Maybe IR has been arrogant about ARR.I am not making excuses for it, but at least he has the knowledge to be arrogant. Whereas KR has nothing to be arrogant about any others MD not even Anu Malik. YSR always has good to say about people, even ARR who is his competition right now.
As for the statement that KR gave about YSR copying his tunes, I found it to be offensive. It is mighty arrogant of KR to make a statement like that on TV, and for IR to agree. YSR showed that he is the bigger person by laughing it off and not replying.
If anything, KR has miles to go before he has the sort of talent that YSR has. KR may have worked with IR on many albums and he may have studied music, but YSR at this young age, without working with IR, or having any formal music training or guidance has done a great job and still continues to do so.

so Ranj ,
A guy who says good about everything is the best person even if it means what he says is false!!!!!
For ur record IR never said anything bad about ARR ..He referred to computer music ....It is only we who refer ARR to computer music ...
What do u know about KR ,YSR and their relationship unless u are their neighbour or their cousin or etc !!!Infac No body knows !!!Infact KR does BGM for some of YSR's works and it was prominent in Geethai...
How do u measure the talent of YSR ,KR ??To judge that u have to be a master in music ..Just hearing alone will not be sufficent ...I can accept if you say YSR music is more youthful ,but to comment on talent, somebody should knwo more !!!!!
How do you YSR has not worked with IR ???
