IMO, SJ is the most versatile singer who has done such a variety of humming patterns. Thanks to IR for his imaginations and trust on SJ. Here I primarily target for SJ songs but, other female singers hummings are also welcome.
Pardon my spelling for humming! Is it right?

1. Aayiram Thamarai - Alaigal Ooivadhillai
2. Vaa Vennila - M.T.Kathavu
3. Kaattril Endhan - Johny
Anybody want to describe SJ's effort in these songs?

I'm extremely biased with P.Susheela but have enjoyed many SJ songs when she didn't sing it in a very shrill voice. One of my favorites of hers is, "Konjam Sangeetham Kattruthaa Gnanakuyilae."

special thanks to anban for correcting me.your song number 1 is by vani jeyaram and number 4 is by sj.

Well, I am excited to see you guys listing a huge stack of SJ's great renderings.
When I actually started this topic, I meant those songs where SJ's humming is simply superb and great. Like the humming that comes in the interlude of Vaa Vennila, humming at the beginning of Katril Endhan Geetham(the egs. I quoted in the beginning).
Anyway, please continue to list those songs where SJ made you all to hum forever :-))
Cheers!

so Anban what I guest is correct. So this topic is actually about the humming of SJ. So lets get on the track back before we drift so much.
I always wonder how SJ could do such kind of mesmerising hummings compared to other singers. One the most unforgetable ones are:
in the beginning of katril enthan geetham
in malargale nathaswaranggal in Kilakke pogum rayil
thuratthil nan kanda un mugam in Nizhalgal
beginning of ponvanam panner thuvathu inneram
in agaya ganngai
in mouna mana neram (Salanggai oli with such romantic mood)
in ponmeni uruguthe (Moondram pirai) I think there is no other singer could ever do this one
in ninaivo oru paravai (Sivappu roja)
the beautiful nathiyil adum poovanam(Kathal oviyam)
in the beginning of rasave unnai nambi (muthal mariyathai)
the two other songs I mentioned before
and many more!!!!!!!!!!!

anandan, you are right on target. That's what I expected when I started this topic.
There is one song in Indru poi Nalai vaa by SJ. I think it is a 'Mazhai' song. I just could not get the starting words though I remember the tune and humming.

mfm,
i think hat song is ponvanam panner thoovuthu inneram. the starts with an exellent fast humming which is realy fantastic. the mood of that song is such that you will feel that you playing under the rain with full of passion.

That song (ponwanam paneer thoovathu..) was from Indru nee nalai naan. There's also a similar SJ rain song in the movie -don't remember the name starring Lakshmi, prabhu and radha. I think it was picturised on lakshmi and prabhu.

Another beautiful humming of SJ is in the beginning of Katrukkenna veli from the movie Avargal. I think no one could ever do that fast charanams so beautifully. I wonder why MSV did not use her talant in his earlier movies, instead he used the almost monotonous PS as his main female playback singer. Only after SJ came to the limelight he used her much. What a waste!(Disgression)

Just one question. Been going thro the forums here, and most posts keep saying that IR made SJ do those mukkal munagal songs. IMO, SJ could have refused. Or if she had some debt of gratitude to IR, why did she oblige T Rajender in his songs, with that terrible terrible panting and moaning in 'Raakala Velaiyile' and "pakkathil vandaal yenna dheemthana'?
SJ by then was really on top.
