Madhu Balakrishnan a brimming talent is now getting some songs in Tamil Nadu. Hope all knows the IR song "Edhilum ingu Irruppan avan Yaaro" From Bharathi.
Yesudas has grown old and his voice is not the same as before. We can feel the old voice in "Thandana thandana thai maasam " song in that vijay kanth's film.
A feel has come that Yesudas has to retire and now the place will be empty. Can Madhu Balakrishnan fill his Place....???

Yes, I feel Yesudoss should retire.
Though Madhu's voice is similar and he is talented, I do not think he can replace Yesudoss. I can still remember how mellifluous Yesudoss's voice was in his early days, I do not thinmk anyone can compare yet to that voice.

See this kind of "replacement" debate erupts as and when I new singer coming in. I don't know the exact purpose of it. Experienced is always experienced. No one can replace anybody in this music field. Every individual has their own talent. Due to aging KJY might be away from active singing in Films. On the other side, due to talent, new artists come in.
If we compare then it is a dishonor to the renowned experienced artists like KJY. I don't know whether Madhu himself will be happy looking at this kind of comparisons.
In mu opinion, let us continue to listen to KJY's golden music at the same welcoming new talents.

Hmm..and nobody will talk about Vijaykanth's retirement:-(
KJY has his place in the hearts of musiclovers. I don't think anyone can replace that. And Madhu and Sadhu can come and go but KJY's fame will not diminish.

Sorry friends due to popularity I am not revealing my name let us assume my name is as "SINGER" .I am a malayalam film singer and also sings for albums and mappilai songs in malayalam. In my early days I used to imitate K.J Yesudas and I am totally failed AND LOST ALL THE CHANCES IN MALAYALM FILM INDUSRIES and then I started singing in my own style even then I am not getting any chances in films. But I get lot of mappilai songs (muslim songs). From my bitter experience I feel that people still like Yesudas voice only and they cannot imagine anybody in place of Yesudas. But I believe the perfect replacer for yesudas is no one else other than Madhu balakrishnan, because he is not imitating Yesudas , actually his voice is very melodious like Yesudas and he can be the only person who can replce the voice of yesudas at present in malayalam film industry. Therefore in my opinion any music director who love yesudas voice can very well try with madhu balakrishnan and I hope it won't be a failure at all. Madhu balakrishnan is also a gem in classical songs that is why he has got kerala state award for "amme..amme..amme "song from the Film Valkannadi and the music director was M. Jayachandran. Thanks for Jayachandran giving Madhu a very good break in malayalm film industry. Also I heard that Madhu is getting a lot of chances in Kannada and tamil film industry I really appreciate the music directors who all are giving chances to this new comer and it won't be a disappoint at all. I wish madhu balakrishnan sucess for all his hit songs and may almighty bless him in each and every walk of his life. For time being I am not interested to reveal about me sorry...

A feel has come that Yesudas has to retire
================================================
Certainly, this statement is absolutely true. KJY has lost his voice control and his once golden voice has now incredibly deteriorated. It has been in a sorry state for nearly a decade now, IMO. KJY sounds awful these days in the higher notes where he literally shouts. In the lower notes, I feel he tries to bring out some Kumar-Sanu kind of vibratos. But the worst part is that he doesn't sound at ease even in the middle octave. I recently heard some of his Carnatic songs from the late 90s. They were rather poorly rendered by KJY. Being a singer of such high achievement, Yesudas should retire gracefully now. He has accomplished a lot, but it is over now. It is age after all and he is human. Nothing can last for ever.

Hello Mr. Singer,
I wish you must be either malayalam film play back singer Marcose or Idava Basheer . Whoever may be, in your response whatever you had mentioned was absolutely correct and 100% agreeing with your statement. At present among all the new singers Madhu balakrishnan has got a very distinct and melodious voice and for the grace of god his voice has resemblance with K.J.Yesudas, but I am quite sure that Madhu is not imitating anybody instead his voice is so sweet as yesudas's voice. Today there was an interview with Madhu bala Krishnan in Kairali TV and I realised that he had sung around 30 Kannada films, 14 malayalam films, 10 Tamil films and lot of Albums, Ona Pattukal, Tulu language Cassette albums etc. His latest Tamil film is "Pitha Mahan" starring Soorya and another hero. Madhu will certainly get mor e and more chances for his rendering ability especially for classical touch songs.

Madhu balakrishnan is a good singer. Can he become another KJY is to be answered by only one - almighty! His songs are really laudable and He is the one who is singing most of the 'track' for KJY in malayalam. One biggest hit track was "Maane.." a very tough song.
He won best singer state award(Kerala) recently for rendering "Amme Amme..." but ironically this song is not a hit in kerala.

We all know that Yesudas is great..But we need some one new who can come up to half of his talent and popularity. I see Madhu as teh closest one in the cards,Parthibhan Kanavu song was superb,.I have seen him singing "Harimuraleeravam" and "Maaane" songs of Yesudas live. You won't see any one else in Malayalam who is capable of singing those songs live in India. That was one of the best live program I have ever seen

Dont ordinary singers become gr8 at some point in time? If they prove their talent with the opportunities.
I dont know about Madhu.. but Surely KJY being my all time fav, i would say nobody would replace, as time transitions, somebody will fill the spot with their own charm

I resent this whole idea of replacing someone. Why should anyone replace anyone? Whatever happened to making one's own legacy? The world is too big to be catered by a select few or to require the few to be replaced. There's room enough for hundreds more, which is exactly what India needs in every field, especially the arts which are largely controlled by insiders, nepotism, and dynasties.

Madhu's voice is really wonderful. For a long time i had been thinking it was KJY who sang "kanaa kandaen thozhi" from Parthiban Kanavu. But a doubt kept nagging my mind as KJY had lost his original melodious voice in recent times. Only yesterday i came to know it was madhu balakrishnan. Madhu may not replace the evergreen voice of KJY, but definitely, his voice is definitely worth the comparison. I request all music composers who read this forum to encourage such genuine talents who do not just try to imitate some one else. Thanks.

There was this incident during a performance of Marcose. As usual he imitated Yesudas in one show, after the song there was demand that it be rendered once more. He sung the same again. Again there was demand "once more". He obliged again. Even after 3rd rendition there came strong demand "once again". Marcose politely said "I understand the attachment to this song, but pardon me, i have to move on to other songs". There came the response from the audience "First you sing this properly, then you can move to other items"

Guys, lets be fare to these new singers. No body is going to have the sway like KJy or SPD had in south indian film field. Lots of new singers are coming and all of them are sharing the booty so no one singer will get recognition over others. wrt madhu replacing kjy it would be next to impossible, as madhi himself put it in a recent telecast interview. even if he reaches 30-40% of what kjy has done in his illustrous career on should term him as a grand success. one only prays that he does not go the way of unni menon(in malayalam) or as somebody rightly pointed out markose. what madhu laks in my opinion is the sentiments/ feelings which kjy used and still effortlessly parts to the song. i have heard madhu sing old kjy songs live mny times and feel he def has to put in efforts to this.
for those who want kjy to retire, as long as his fans want him to sing he should sing. i for one would like to hear him sing for ever.
i am giving a list of songs new worth listening which may tempt some of you to change opinion on his old voice:
innale ente film: baletan
aroral film: pattalam
kolamayil: keralahouse vilpannakku
ada ada: pithamagan
anuragamananda: anyar
