Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  Yeah,even after climbing the popularity ladders to enviable heights,Rahman still remains the same old lively Rahman,it's his spontaneity and non-pretentious interview that he gave in SunTV,amazed me once again,Rahman as a personality too amazes me,ofcourse his music is one that has captured me long back.

  wat is this???is there some sort of OOP class going on???? yuva has slipped to no.3 in the planetm countdown.......the promos are not good and frequent enuf on tv......Meenaxi had xcellent promos and look at the results.... mani will never understand this.....he thinks, his name and ARR's name will make ppl. go crazy.....in hindi u need good promos even for a SRK movie...

  Understanding bollywood music is tough, though ARR has created a niche for himself, the same old pooja songs, wedding songs all the la la la kinda songs which SAR makes in tamil sells there like hot cakes.
  
  Hindi film is ruled by stupids like Karan johar and sooraj bharjatya, add aditya chopra to the list.
  Same old themes, same old songs, karwa chok, laksmi pooja, durga pooja, bhai bhen love, Bhabi devar sentiments everything sells again and again.

  I dont agree to this.. as long as it is better than the just now released stuff, it could still be getting to the top of the charts. but if it is not, then it does not, though some marketing helps i dont disagree

  no MIL, i have personally seen not-so-good movies like K3G,Kal ho Na ho etc.. become super hit with unbelivably frequent promos on TV..... i remember one day when kal ho na ho song appeared almost 100 times on MTV.....ppl. here believe a lot in reviews, so directors need to be in good books of critics.......my frnds told me that they never knew wat was DilSe.....it is a big thing nowadays to attract ppl. to theatres... Yuva's promos are not big enuf,they are not self-xplanatory enuf, they are also not frequent enuf....

  mr.thiru, that is the illusion created by the pro-johars,pro-chopras mediamen...... K3G struggled to become a hit.....devdas was considered a flop in many centres, kal ho na ho was thrashed by Munnabhai MBBS, saathiya was a bigger hit than Kaante...can u believe these things? but they are true....here the ppl. are sensible to a gr8 extent......it is the media who are masking it...... a gr8 example of how advanced the mumbaiites are: Humdum suniyo re was the biggest hit of 2003 whereas Enrenrum punnagai was one among 100 songs in 2000 for tamil...

  I think you live in mumbai and i must accept what you say but to us if we tune on the tv say channel V or MTV
  K3g, hum sath sath hai, kal ho na ho, mohabaten all are portrayed as big hits, both audio wise and the movie.
  Just check out box office india, the music of taal is 2nd to one of such films, that reveals the basic taste difference.
  Besides Yuva is no less to meenaxi when compared to quality though it is of different genre.

  it is true that ARR's movies dunt beat SRK's movies.....that is a very big weak-point for ARR.....it is a sad thing....but ppl. know in their heart that ARR's music is way ahead of others....it is all those stupid girls who buy srk's cd's.......nowadays even that insignificant girls's population that is counting in sales.....
  mr.c~p, i gave that example cos i wanted to tell mr.thiru mumbaiites do listen to good western numbers and lively songs..... i was really disappointed with "Enrenrum punnagai's treatment in chennai.....it did not feature in any countdown....

  I seriously dont think ppl "listening" to music up North ever give a thought to the song as something to be relished rather than something to be danced to. I mean... There are MDs actually churning out the same tune over and over and over again.. and these ppl too listen. how desperate can the situation get?
