AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  A music director should give his best irrespective of the movie he is working for... (IMHO).

  And, can we take like this... It is only because of the script, the movie is a hit and hence, the music also is a hit..??
  So, No movie by ARR is a hit, just because of music..

  i dunno whether a movie's soundtrack will be a hit just becoz the movie is a hit. but i do know that the music plays a big role in making the movie into a hit. try listening to some of ARR songs. you would know.'Kangalal kaidhu sei' was a disappointment. not for me only i guess. Maybe for the maestro too. all of us expected sumthin better from bharathiraja. but the music was superb and crossed all the boundaries that had been there. but just look at movies like 'Star' and 'Alli Arjuna'. its so obvious ARR didnt even make an effort to twist his brain in coming out with great music. he just took his Hindi hits and then adjusted them according to the southern liking. dun get me wrong. i think ARR is the greatest artist i have ever seen and i basically worship him. He's one indian artist or may i say tamilian , who is being recognised world wide for his talent and his brain. and i beg and plead all of you to give him all the support we have.

  hey I belong to your party...Good that thru ARR non Tamils especially Northies look into Tamil...but man , you should believe that we have some great talents in this part of the world unrecognised by the majority..
  
  All the northies now see is Mani, Kamal and ARR...but we have IR, Bala, Cheran and many more....but the fact is the former three were intelligent enough to make themself seen by all of India...the others wre either reluctant to do so or too staunch with their regional identity and phillosophy.

  thanks for your support. i'm crazy of ilaiyaraja too. ARR and IR are the best and i have never known anybody else who could churn music like that. and you are rite when u said that ARR, IR, Manirathnam and Kamal knows how to publicise themselves. if we indians want to be known at the global stage, we should learn how manipulate our talent and make it recognised world wide. but then the problem is most of the tamil directors are stuck in making stereotype movies. look at cheran's 'Autograph'. Dun get me wrong. i love the movie as it is beautifully taken. but its a love story which has the basic indian movie elements; love, family, break up, tears and so on. its a enjoyable movie but when i watch the western movies or other critically acclaimed movies, they have a very futuristic atmosphere and their stories are always mind blowing. just take a look at the Matrix trilogy. why cant we indians come up with that kind of story when we have so many of our own people working in the technology sector? Until now, there's only one indian movie that blew mind with its story which 'Mundru Mudichu', starring Rajini, Kamal and Sri Devi. Credits for K.Balachander for daring to come out with such impressive story. Balu Mahendra's 90's movies are good too. Forgive me guys if u think i'm talking nonsense but i'm only letting out my feelings. en nelamai................
