We have had n tending to impatience ( not infinity!) threads about IR & ARR. So let us talk primarily about the good output of other MDS.
For starters
1.adityan had a not so bad effort in " Oyila paadum paatu" & vettila potta shokkule". where is he now.
2.Thalai vasal had more than passable music by Ilaya barathi. where is he now.
3.Cheran paandiyan had half an excellent song by sowdaryan. The start of kaadal kaditham was very good but midway it jumps into familar zone.
4.rajan Nagendra recycled " Inti Inti ramayanam" in Veetukku veedu vaasapadi. the music for Iru Nilavugal is also good. where are they now?
5 aslam Musthafa had a great opening bit in" Kicchu kicchu pannuda ' . movie mitta mirasu. is he doing anything now.
6. Maragathamani aka MM Kreem aka Keeravani is also not heard these days. azhagan songs were quite good.
7 Amsaleka was ok in "selai kattum pennukk...'
8.Devenran was quite good in "Vedam Puthithu" But I think he got caught in the crossfire between IR & BR. They came together in Nadodi Thenral & we have not heard anything from devendran have we?
8 Narasimhan started with abang in achamillai2 but hten gradually fizzled out. Amir John gave him acouple of chances I suppose but that is about it barring a weak comeback in a Revathi movie.
Of course we can talk about Bharadwaj, Vidya SagarChirpi (if we have to!), Mani Sharma, et al.
Other one time wonders can also be read if not heard!

  Rajen Nagendra were once No.1 in Kannada movies.I am not sure that they are still around.(Alive??)
  
  Amsalekha won a national award too for a Kannada movie.But variety ...romba sumar..but enough for the present kannada movies!Captain Magal was very ordinary.
  
  Maragathamani had his moments in Teleugu field.But it seems he spends more time to decide his name for oriya,thulu,bhojpuri,rajasthani movies which he is going to comopose then the tunes.
  
  Amongst Soundaryan,Adityan,Mustafa,Devendran,and (after thaykkam) V S Narasimhan, Bala Bharathi of Amravathy is the most talented and most ignored.Infact he is miles ahead of the like of Sirpi ,SAR. Suzhi seriyillai!
  
  VS and Mani sharma fall in the same category.Copy,good orchestra arrangements,catchy pallavis etc. However VS is ahead in terms of variety.Mani sharma is stil in the Siranjeevi Gadu music mould.Prob would end up a successor to chakravarthy.
  
  Bharadwaj ,well Pandavar Bhoomi promised but it appears he wont last till next spring.
  
  There was this guy Vijay Anand who did Nanayam illatha Nanayam and Nan Adimai illai.He sounded better but vanished suddenly.
  
  Mahesh (Nammmavar) ..Impress pannavillai.AGOSH and Magesh can stop with "Sottu Neelam doi" stuff.

  Why OISG,
  Bharadwaj has spark in him. Of course just like a spark plug konjam appa appa clean panna vendum.
  But he gave good music for Parthen rasithen ( my fav B movie) . After all he has given O Podu. Rishi moolan , Malaysia moolam ellam paarkamal it is catchy.
  What about Ramanujam? Is he alive now? ( Once his Gopala en saar was popular.
  L Vaithyanathan also has the talent which has not been utilised. His veenaiadi nee enakku tune his simple but etheral.

  Ramanujam - after Annaparavai i heard his music only once when MGR died he composed song and sang and the casettes sold ok.Someone in tfm threads mentioned that he has settled in the US.
  
  LV -7vathu Manithan was scintillating.But Lottery ticket was a big let down.I heard some of his Kannada movie songs.Not very impressive.
  
  Bharadwaj - Gemini was a big let down.It would have made him rich but i am sure he would lost lot of admirers (gained thru Parthen & Pandavar Boomi)Tamizh and I love you Da are just horrible.
  
  Sivaji Raja -sang in Anbulla Athan then did a good job in Katrukenna veli and vanished.

  OISG, I too wanted to mention Sivaji Raja- he did a fantastic job in Kaatrukkenna Veli- Rekha Rekha (Jolly Abraham-PS), Chinna Chinna megham (SPB-Anitha) and Kadal meethiley (SPB) are all evergreen in my memory. He then did Vijaykanth's Raman Sriraman, in which, Kanni thendral veesum nerangal (SPB-PS) is an outstanding illustartion of his capacity. His last film was Chithirame Chithirame, which also had some good songs by MVD and VJ.
  
  It is Ramanaujam's annan R Parthasarathi who is in U S. Ramanujam is still in Chennai, I think.
  
  LV's Puththam Puthu ulagam (SJ-LV) from 'Kavithai paada neramillai' is an enchanting melody.
  
  What about Ravindran? He came from Malayalam to do wonderful music in films like Rasigan oru rasigai, Kanmaniye Pesu and Lakshmi vandhachu.

  Maragathamani recently composed for the Hindi film Sur which had Lucky Ali as hero in the role of a music teacher. I think the album is available in raaga.com. It's not crap. At least in terms of melody he is way better than others listed here. But lacks consistency:(

  KAruppu Roja was by MSV.Raja.(Clarinet artist)
  
  He also plays the clarinet in ARR s PAdyappa.Cover credit has been given.
  
  AV Ramanan did Neerottam."Aasai irukkuthu nenjukulle" was one of the duets.
  
  SV Ramanan did Uruvangal Maarlam.Considering the Jayashree pictures advertisment (his profession)the songs were really good.

  Veettukku Veedu vasappadi has this great song
  
  Adal padal kaadhal enbadhu appodu (Tamil)
  Veena venu vaina sarigama vinnava (telugu)
  jeeva veene (kannada)
  
  all three versions are great to prove music has no language boundaries.

  I think Harris Jayaraj is doing a decent job.
  Both Minnale and 12B had good songs and good BGM.

  L Vaidyanathan gave good songs in Lottery Ticket IMO.
  Kannail vandhai nenjil nindrai nee
  and
  Avaniyai kondada vandhan

  Sparisam is correct not Salanangal.
  
  Ravindran i think did not do justice to the tamil movies.Compare his score of HH Abdullah his tamil ventures were average. G Devarajan i am sure did a better job in both Tamil and malayalam.
  
  Did Johnson do any Tamil movie?
  
  Surprisingly Telugu Chakravarthy s Kattrtha Kili Koodu s Tamil version,Kodeeswaran magal were decent.But Yamanukku Yeman was out and out a Uttalakadi stuff!

  Chakravarthi also did Kamal's Pagadai Pannirendu- Varavendum Maharajan was a good song. BTW, was it Chakravarthi or Satyam who did Mudisooda Mannan - Thodangum thodarum was a great number.
  Ramesh Naidu did a few tamil films- Mela thaalangal and perhaps Pennukku yaar kaaval.
  TV Raju did Kanimuthu papa and Rani Yaar kuzhandai. M Rangarao did Kudumbam oru kovil.
  
  I don't know if Johnson did any tamil film, but Umer did Anbin Alaigal, Joy did Yaarukku yaar kaaval. Salil Chowdhry dubbed his songs from 'Madanotsavam' to Paruvamazhai and also did Azhiyatha kolangal and Dhoorathu Idi mizhakkam.
  
  SPB scored music for Mayuri, Thudikkum karangal and Sigaram. MVD for Saamanthippoo, Kolusu and Paaku vethalai.
  
  The 70s tfm had some ocassional, but great scores from stalwarts like G Devarajan, V Dakshinamoorthi and MB Srinivasan.
  
  The 80s had Hindi composers like L-P, Bappi Lahiri, Usha Khanna and RD Burman doing a few tamil films.
